Simple gen, do one hand seal placing all the targets in a genjutsu where they see feathers fall from the sky onto the field and themselves. This will place them to sleep, how would you deduce this genjutsu?

Well I'd notice the feather falling from the sky, and wonder about its source, feathers are usually gotten from birds and cannot just fall from the sky, except there's a bird above, and even then, birds don't shed their feathers so that's a dead give away

Description: The user makes one handseal, placing the opponent in a genjutsu. The user then tosses a large number of explosive tags at the opponent. To the opponent, it looks as if they are countless butterflies. The opponent then believes they are sinking into the ground, in reality making them immobilized; this allows the user to place one final exploding tag on their forehead before detonating all the tags simultaneously.

After placing the opponent in a genjutsu you will toss some tags at the opponent which to them, looks like butterflies. As they are looking at the butterflies, they become immobilize for they see themselves sinking into the ground. This gives you a small window to place a tag on their forehead, jump away from the vicinity, and then finally explode everything.

How might you counter this when set on you? And how might you layer this with other combos? I have a few in mine myself.

Well, I the butterfly would be a dead give away, since there was no summoning seal whatsoever, and thus they were not summoned, but just appeared to charge towards me, also I don"t feel the displacement of earth/sand below me, but I realize I'm sink, I think that should be enough to tell me I'm in a genjutsu.

This technique would be more realistic in forest terrains so it should work well with its jutsu, but I would combine it with another genjutsu perhaps,one that takes away the focus from the butterfly, I don't know exactly which I'll use

When it comes to canon gens, there aren't many, though the Sharingan might be an exception but I'm no expert on there. However, CJs I have seen a few but they rarely get approved.
