But honestly the Ballon dor is full of crap, they overlook a lot of amazing players and goals, I mean we can ALL AGREE that Peter Crouches goal against Man City 24/03/12 was way better than Neymar and Matic yet he isn't even in the line up, why?? How on earth can you overlook a goal like that?

Why aren't players like Aguero, Falcoa or Rooney even thought about in the Ballon dor? They have Ribery in the line up yet in the preview video at the actual Ballon dor ceremony they show Robben giving the assists and scoring the goals. Seriously WTF ballon dor??

Actually, I still maintain that. For me, the Ballon D'Or was a real deal before FIFA merged with it and in that respect, Sneijder and Ribery both deserved it. Actually, both won the journalists vote in either case. But then, let's see it in the proper way - if Sneijder (or Iniesta) never won it, I don't see any reason why Ribery should.

It all but confirms that now, team success is a criteria that doesn't tilt Ballon D'Or success like it used to before. And it confirms the domination of exceptional talents over Ballon D'Or - that are Ronaldo and Messi over the next 5years and more...Whether it's a good thing or bad thing, we must now accept that with FIFA, it's an individual award now. And in that respect, big congrats to Ronaldo who was downright amazing and an outstanding winner in that respect.

And quite frankly, it would have been a real shame in football history if an outstanding player like Ronaldo didn't win it more than once.

Actually, it's a clear Messi v/s Ronaldo battle now every single year...except if both get injured. The 3 players - Suarez, Bale & Neymar - who show amazing talents to carry a team on their shoulders individually, are now either playing alongside Messi/CR7 or outside of the illustrious Champions League. In a way, 2 possible challengers to defy one of the most fierce duo of football rivals in a decade, are now in the shadow of both Messi/Ronaldo. It's a monopoly; team success won't really affect that, except if Madrid/Barca are winners. Perhaps, the closest outsider to really try to break Messi/Ronaldo's power on Ballon D'Or would be Zlatan. Provided PSG win the CL (obviously treble), then for sure, Zlatan would make for a more enviable challenge than Sneijder/Ribery/Iniesta. Because, he'll be a winner with solid pedigree and a player who isn't million lights away from the genius skills of Messi/CR7; unlike Ribery/Sneijder/Iniesta.

True but i watch iniesta week in week out in laliga and the dude is phoenomenal not a game changer as messi or neymar as he is lacking in goals but then again he is a midfielder, messi and ronaldo importance are sometimes exagerrated in thier indvidual teams in my opinion and i say this because if you watched madrid last season with ozil who not only scores goals but makes brilliant passes and runs you will see madrid arent the same side, though isco is good but nowhere near a game changer or a star as ozil was to madrid and as important as iniesta. Isnt to barcelona, however on an indvidual level i think iniesta on his best day isnt light years away from the duo. Frankly ribery would have stood a higher chance if his goal tally was improved even if he ended the year with 40-50 no where ronaldo who netted close to 70 he would have had a real chance. Also do you agree with the worldXI? Well heres mine.

I must applaud fifa though because they finally removed pique who hasnt been what he used to be since 2011 but its still a suprise how ramos whose defense is just hilarious is there i mean the dudes red card tally and rash decisions is quite alot lol his not that bad of a defender but like pique not one deserving to be on this list. Then removing alves and exchanging for alaba would be good. Its also funny how the english league doesnt have any player here lol, guess its really the best league in the world. .__.

With the recklessness that Bayern destroyed opposition, if Ribery tripled his score tally, then perhaps he wouldn't have needed to campaign for the Ballon D'Or! Because, then Bayern would have had actually look like a wonderful team with Ribery as a standout player.

As for your stern defense of Iniesta, I respect it. But you know very well, that those points won't be as valid as mine, if we analyze from FIFA point-of-view. It's not that I like that charisma, stats or game-changing ability, are such crucial factors now. In fact, I hate it- but it's like that now! And unfortunately,despite all your admiration for Iniesta, you know, as well as me, that Iniesta will probably always remain lightyears away from having a credible chance of winning Ballon D'Or with CR7/Messi & Co. around.

For Ozil, I'm a big big fan of the player, but let's not only mention his outstanding strong point. He's also often inconsistent in certain matches.

The FIFA XI is an utter joke. I didn't even bother, looking at it, after last year's hilariously awful-lineup.

Okay, this year is a lil' better but still poor from many points. Dante should be there instead of Ramos. Same for Alaba instead of Alves. Schweinsteiger is an obvious choice instead of Xavi.

Now, about two debatable choices - Zlatan & Iniesta.

Iniesta had a good season in La Liga; though not his best one. On the contrary, Gundogan was key in Dortmund's exploits of last season. Same for Martinez in Bayern's winning squad. Robben & Muller also got similar very strong case and can easily postulate for that spot also. Just like Iniesta, Vidal also had a strong season in the league with Juve. Somehow, I may include one of them instead of Iniesta; though tight choice.

As for Ibra - he was amazing. But right now, for me, Suarez is the best No.9 in the world and Lewandowski, for all his mercenary morals, was also extraordinary with Dortmund. Perhaps, just for all the wonder goals that Ibra scored, I'd retain him, but again tough choice atleast for me.

Yeah true, also iniesta only last chance and hope of winning the ballon d or would be for barca to win the double[league and cup] or treble[league,cup,ucl] and for spain to reclaim the worldcup then it would become even visible to the ignorant few out there that he deserves it but thats a long time from now lets see how the season progresses.

Yes iniesta is also debatable but common escorps zlatan isnt, what was even debatable was zlatan not being shortlisted for the ballon d or, now dont get me wrong suarez is an exceptional player but not on zlatan level of play and experience yet, do you know zlatan has the highest goal tally in the ucl this season 8 i think only behind ronaldo who has 9 and he has been in ridiculous form for psg both in the league and cup coupled with his team winning the ligue 1 and he advancing to the quarterfinals until they lost out on goal differences to barca and with all this information and stats i would say he deserved his spot.

I also dont fancy a player being in the worldxi who has had no european play be it europa league or champions league as we both know thats a whole different ball game than the epl. Also why do people think dante is worldclass lol? I dont agree i think his good nothingmore nothing less the dude makes mistakes as seen in ucl but then again who doesnt and is also second choice for brazil though in a team that has thiago silva who wouldnt? But yeah i dont think he deserves to be on the list, i take hummels who i think is a better player out of the two on thier best days performance wise.

Also you being a manchester united fan how do you ascess your teams chances of making it in the top four? Meh i think united still got a chance no team in the premier league except city can lose two of thier most important players being rooney an being rooney and vanpersie and not have any issues. TBF Iniesta was in any other generation he would've had 1 if not more Ballon D'ors and even in this generation without Messi/CR he could've had 1 or arguably 2 Ballon D'ors to his name.

No player at the moment such as Ibra/Suarez/Aguero/Negredo/Neymar on current form will find it difficult to compete with those two.

All tho I'd like Messi to stay around for a while, but at the same time I find it interesting how competitive the next generation players will be with Messi/CR out of the picture. Deulofeu/Neymar/Thiago/Gotze/Koke/Isco/Moura/Pogba/Veratti/Jese/Morata/Draxler/El Shaarawy/Oscar

Yea, Ronaldo winning the Ballon with Messi close behind was no surprise at all for me. I just don't like either of them as much as I used to , because they just dont play for their teams anymore. They've become global stars and you get the feeling that they just want to score goals regardless of the team's performance, moreso from Ronaldo. At least Messi tries to set up goals for others. But then again, i think it'd be a true victory for football as a whole when those subtle genii like Iniesta, Alonso or Sneijder too share the spotlight with goal minded centre forwards.
