Gai could only touch Ay if uses 8 gate

Ah I got you now, this is true. Ama's up on panel before he dodges or reacts each time it's shown. But in real time this would be pretty instantaneous so I'd like to think it's a good clean dodge lol although your right he can't react till he sees it, or he knows it's coming but Ama's fast enough to make it seem that way

To me it seems that Ay's fast reaction speed is able to make a split decision as soon as fast jutsu like amatersu gets spawned up. Because from what I've seen, jutsus that come out from the mangekyo sharingan is instant. It's just how you deal with it that makes all the difference.

Sasuke's body just wasn't able to keep up with Ay's body at the time but his eyes can to a certain extent. Kinda like that Sasuke vs Lee fight.

I can see this, sasuke saw him coming right before but he wasn't able to move fast enough iirc. Susanoo is what saved him and that's an eye power so it makes sense

The impact of his hits ins't the issue, it's speed. Whether or not he can hurt JJ Madara doesn't mean that he can't react to 7th gate gai. 6 gate is no contest. as Sensei Sama said lightening is faster than sound. He'll dodge all of his 6th gate attacks

Ffwahahah even 5th or 6th Gate Gai is much faster than V2 Ei at max speed. V1 Ei gets clowned by Base Gai or 1st Gate Gai.

Gaara saw Ei fighting more than once, he witnessed V2 Ei more than once, he even witnessed Lightned V2 Ei. He didn't seem impressed at all. When he witnessed 7th Gate Gai, this was his reaction:

Gai clearly pressures Juubi Madara with his speed and taijutsu skills, without letting him to touch him with the Gudodama staff or balls, and manages to corner him and launch his finishing attack, even if then is countered and defeated back. Gai even manages to touch Juudara, even if his hits are parried; the focal point is that 7th Gate Gai is fast enough to fight on equal foot against Juudara in a physical brawl, he even pushes him back, he gets defeated because Juudara overpowers him. While Minato got defeated because Juudara straight completely outspeeded him, even if Minato just needed a mental reaction to use Hiraishin, and he couldn't pull that. Minato who clowned max speed Ei. Hence 7th Gate Gai's speed > SM Minato's speed > Minato's speed > Ei's max speed. Not to mention that Ei couldn't hope to hit Edo Madara, who casually reacted to his V2 speed, and Ei needed to be furtherly amped by Onoki. While Edo Madara was straightly up hit by Gai's Hiru Tora, his fastest punch in 7th Gate, and the much much faster Juubi Madara was pressured and nearly surprised by 7th Gate Gai.
