He was talking about his mother's strength and love. He doesn't say he gained her ability to control sand and its never been said anywhere she had that ability.

Gaara already has the magnet release, since he was seen using gold sand. But I think he also uses the magnet release to control regular sand. Yeah that is why I think magnet consists of Wind/Earth.

it never said she had the ability to control sand, and it pretty much sounds like hes referring to the sand manipulation if hes comparing her to the shukaku, which is known for sand manipulation.

No he says the sand will always protect you, telling him that all those times it wasnt Shukaku protecting you but your mother because she really loved you. If Gaara's mother had that ability then why did Gaara's father now just come to the conclusion that it was the mother who had the ability?

The 3rd/4th kazekage derived their abiltiies from it's magnet abilities.

Gaara himself says he puts chakra into the sand to manipulate it, so it's not magnet release. If it even were, gaara would be able to magnetize kunai by now.

Yes and Shukaku uses the magnet release to control sand. Look at the spoiler, Naruto needs a sealing tech, Shukaku has a sealing tech which he used regular sand. Naruto says Senpou magnet release rasengan, the sand in the ball + the black seal writing looks exactly like the sealing tech Shukaku used before . That is the giant connection there.

i think that gaara having magnet release was amplified by the fact he has shukaku. it also could be that he only recieved it from shukaku as he is the only one among his siblings that seemingly have magnet release.

The folks at Narutopedia need to realise that those with the power of the Sage can use all 5 elements and combine them however they please. Obito did it (using at least 4 elements according to Hiruzen). Then Naruto did it with Lava and Magnetism. Now Madara has done it with Storm release.

We don't. Given how Gaara's father used Jiton, I'm inclined to believe Gaara's own ability had little to do with Shukaku, evidenced by the fact he retained the ability to control sand after it was extracted from him.

Not necessarily, Obito showed that you can still use a Tailed Beast skill even after its extracted as he can still use the Truth Seeker Balls to form a staff.

I was always under the impression that Gaara got his power from the Shukaku and his mother fixed it so it would give him the absolute defense, more like she modified it.

The shukaku possess the ablity to manipulate Sand and possess Jiton and Fuuton. Gaara's Sand isn't a feat of Jiton else, its just the Natural ability of the Shukaku, Gaara would have moved the Gold by its self instead of using His Sand move it.
