Gaara doesn't "fool him with a clone" I mean seriously. If he would have he would have just done the same against Madara. Also, Gaara doesn't turn the battlefield to a desert since his powers don't allow him to. The only reason he was able to use a massive amount of sand against Madara was because Oonoki made the surrounding sand lighter. And in the fight between Madara and Gokage, we can see that Gaara's sand armour wasn't even there. I'm talking about the scan where Madara says "Not ok." and shows all Gokage in blood half dead. And as I said, once Guy hits top speed, he can beat up Gaara to a pulp. His senses and sand can't keep up with his speed, since Gaara isn't a close combat fighter. The gates up to the 7th one are more than enough to defeat Gaara if normal light-speed Taijutsu isn't enough.

I'll give it to Gaara high diff. Gaara's arsenal can keep Gai on the move while he progresses to flight mode. While Gai does have a few speedy moves that can hit Gaara in the air, I think with his sand armor and shield, he can outlast Gai after he uses his gates. Gaara could take a lot of damage but I think he could pull off the win.

Gai's speed is higher level gates is insinuated in every known way that he is considerably faster than Lee. It might not have been seen, but there is enough proof to justify that Guy is without a doubt much faster than his pupil.

With that being said, Gai is till faster than even gaaras sand, at present isimply because of powerscaling from both the gates and being Lees master/hype as one of the strongest taijjutsu masters in the NV.

Gai will take this battle mid diff UNLESS its in a desert. Without all of that extre sand at Gaaras disposal, he wont last long enough to survive Gai's initial onslaught.

madara could see through clones,so it was pointless. Guy can't. He fooled edo troll kage twice with his clone. Um,gaara turned the battlefield to a desert against kimimaro. The lightened sand he used was rather small actually.

Gaara's sand armour wasnt there maybe because madara broke it?,madara has PS,moukton,rinnegan etc. Just because he beat gaara dosent mean guy dose the same,madara dosent only use taijutsu.

Once guy goes 7 gates,he will end up having to punch through a sand shield and sand armour which he cant.

Gaara showed his ability to react to taijutsu users against lee,and kimimaro.

Yes, but Guy and Lee are more vigilante than Trollkage. Remember that it's not easy to fool them with clones, especially in a 1 on 1 combat. Lee had to have his eyes closed in order to allow Gaara to use a clone and substitute himself. Hadn't he done that, he'd have been killed by that Lotus. Also, as I said, with Guy's speed he cant withstand all sand attacks. A direct punch at 7th gate will kill Gaara, considering that it's power is in comparison to Tsunade's punch that pierced through Madara's Susano'o. And we can remember that the sand couldn't stuck the Susano'o of Madara.

Guy's speed and power at 7 gates will allow him to powerfully punch Gaara with a deadly hit, and the sand won't be able to keep up with his speed in order to protect Gaara. Even if he manipulates all that sand, it'll be useless. Also, I can't see what attack might have used Madara to leave Gaara all blooded and half dead that could be more powerful than a 7 gated punch of Guy.

the mizukage had his eyes on gaara the whole time,yet didnt notice him using a sand clone,also he had gaara in a mist genjutsu and still was fooled by a clone. How would lee or guy know when gaara makes a clone?,there are no seals for that,he makes them anywhere there is sand. I know guy can dodge his sand,but that is only in gates,which means he needs to beat gaara quickly.

Gaara's defence hasnt been outsped,only his attacks have been dodged for a while. And i told you his sand sphere offers 360 degrees,so speed is nothing.

Raikage couldnt breach a ribcage susanoo,gaara's defence has proven to tank blows that can wipe out v3 level susanoos,thus guy wont do anything to gaara's defence at all.

Madara never used taijutsu to pierce his sand,he just managed to dodge some sand attacks,before being forced to use susanoo.

Hirudora can be easily intercepted,as it isnt very fast. It wont even reach the sky if gaara flies. If gaara enters his sand sphere,he can use sand sensing 3rd eye to detect guy,guy cant dodge a sand tsunami anyway,or he could just stay there and wait for guy to feel the effects of the gates.

A clone is a weaker version of the original anyway. Even if he does use a clone, his chakra may be split into half, thus defeating the clone will be just fine. Besides, the clone doesn't have the sand gourd, or if it does, it doesn't work since this only works on the original body, which is a Kekkei Genkai. If the clone doesn't have an absolute defense, Guy can simply defeat them clones with Taijutsu attacks, simple ones.

And by out-sped I'm referring mainly to the fight between Gaara and Lee, when the sand couldn't keep up with Lee's movements when he wasn't even using Gates. Going full defense as you say may work, but you can't attack. Basically, Gaara only hides this way.

In the 322 Episode you can see Madara hitting shinobi with his feet but the sand is there, protecting them, and still was almost pierced. Madara wasn't using super power or super speed, just simple Taijutsu moves, which proves that a simply sand barrier can be pierced with Guy's brute force.

Hirudora might indeed not work, but once Gaara runs out of chakra, it could. If Gaara will have time to get in his sand sphere fine, but his attacks won't land on Guy. And once Guy uses gated attacks, Gaara won't be able to get in his sand sphere. And a tsunami can be easily dodge by Guy's speed.

Facts or not, clones are either splitting your chakra in half, thus defeating them won't be a problem since it's basically 50% of chakra, or how many clones you make, or simply don't share chakra with your clones meaning that they're weak and can be easily defeated with Taijutsu.

The purpose of a sand clone is to trap Gaara's opponent. The moment Gai comes into contact with it, he would get basically crushed by a sand burial.
