Gaara is the strongest of the current Kage

Gaara is impressive, don't get me wrong. I think he could take both the 3rd and 4th Raikage. But Onoki is a different matter. He just seems to be a tier above Gaara.
-Gaara can create a sand shield over the village (but at great effort). Onoki can casually carry a whole island across a vast distance.
-Gaara can simulate flying for himself and others. Onoki can actually make them fly
- Garaa can survive a meteor strike... Onoki can actually stop it (one at least).
-Gaara can crush his foes. Onoki atomises them.
And this is all sub-prime Onoki, who is assumedly weaker than prime Onoki.
Onoki has a variety of techniques too, from stone golems to rock clones, which will at least slow Gaara down, and seems to have large chakra reserves to spam them. Assumedly he could petrify or weigh down Gaara's sand if he managed to get a grip on him too. None of which accounts for his ace in the hole- Dust techniques. I'm not even sure Gaara can slow Dust attacks down, and when using his full strength (even without Tsunade), Onoki seems to have alot of reach and distance on these.

I'm just not seeing it. Onoki is an insanely powerful character, as is his teacher Mu (which only makes it more insane that EMS Madara apparently effortlessly schooled them both at the same time without even trying). Only the really high end guys have a chance against him (like the current Naruto, Sasuke, Nagato, Itachi, Minato, Hasmirama, etc).

A is most likely stronger than Gaara. Even Part 1 Lee without weights was speed blitzing Gaara. A would rape.

Well all the Kages you mention have something about them that stands out. As for Onoki vs. Gaara, I'd have to agree with others that Onoki wins unless he gets unlucky with back problems. I'm really not too fond of the whole "Gaara will never let Onoki get the time to pull it off" ideal. One because such a tactic rarely works, and two because of everything else going for Onoki like doton clones as diversions, golems, and his flight speed. Not to mention that Madara commented on how much of a pain dealing with Onoki's experience on the battlefield was.

Although some speculate that even if Onoki breaks down Gaara's sand it wouldn't matter since he controls particles of sand anyways. But I don't think Gaara can get by if Onoki aims one of those laser-like Jinton beams at him. I guess he could get by a few times with a sand clone or two but nonetheless..

Gaara has gotten alot faster and stronger since the frickin Chunnin exams. These days he's fast enough to tag guys like the 3rd Raikage. He also has a vastly improved defence (and use of clones), so it's not like the Raikage can just hit him either. He can also easily go out of the range of the Raikage, and spam him to death, and/or seal him. This is Gaara, easily.

Saying A can beat Gaara is like saying Tsunade can beat him too. A is fast, but his destructive power pales in comparison to Tsunade's. Furthermore the Hokage can regenerate herself, so Gaara can't deal with her so easily.

And how can A or Tsunade defeat a flying Gaara? They are taijutsu fighters.

With some of the crazy stuff we've seen Gaara's sand stand up to, I'm not seeing A being able to penetrate it... assuming he can find the right Gaara, assuming he isn't sealed by then. Gaara is a guy who, before he even reached his prime, could levitate an insane amount of sand over the top of his village to form a shield (that stood up to Deidara's huge explosion). The range and quantity of sand he can call on is too much for the Raikage to deal with. Way, way too much. Then of course, Raikage has no way to fight him, because Gaara can fly and use his attacks from long, long distance. If A tries to jump at Gaara he'll be helpless in the air, unable to counter properly. I give A the credit he deserves, but in this case it's hopeless for him Gaara is much stronger. Onoki on the other hand should be fine.

Haha wow. Don't even compare these two. All Tsunade has is raw power while Raikage has powerful nintaijutsu, speed, huge chakra reserve and can easily pierce through defense.
Raikage > Tsunade. She definitely does not stand a chance against Gaara. She isn't fast enough and she will have a harder time breaking Gaara's defense.

A can speed blitz him before he takes flight.

By the time he has powered up and charged Gaara, Gaara will be surrounded by ridiculously tough sand defences, have already switched places with a sand clone to fake Raikage out, and be 20 feet in the air ready to mop the floor with the now helpless Raikage. Even A's stronger father was slowed down by Gaara's sand attack (and unable to dodge it), so I'm not sure how you think A is just going to walk through it. Meanwhile Gaara can either go underground or airborne as soon as the fight begins, and at that point the fight is over.
