So far i know, the only thing stated is that it seals everyone it pierces. So the sealing technique only takes effect after it pierces someone. If it can't pierce someone, nothing happens

Why don't you accept the fact that Gaara can defeat Itachi? He has counters to Itachi's attacks... The Susanoo, Tsukuyomi, Amaterasu is useless against the Kazekage. What else can Itachi do? He can't seal, stab or burn him. The Sand protects Gaara.
where was it stated it pierces anything?it only says it seals anyone it pierces,and it cant pierce the sand.
When has itachi used more than oner or two clones?,his stamina is shitty,gaara's on the other hand is enormous. Gaara's sand clones are easily superir to itachi's crow clones,his sand clones regenerate,can use sand and each have the ability to quickly disperse into sand to ensnare the opponent.
Itachi in the databooks surpass gaara himself in speed,but his sand is much faster than itachi,he surpasses gaara in taijutsu and genjutsus,both of which gaara has no need of,except knowledge on how to prevent getting caught which he has mastered,itachi
in the databooks surpass him in handseals,gaara dosent need handseals,he makes sand clones without handseals,strength department is useless to gaara as it is a part of taijutsu. The databooks simply show that itachi surpass gaara himself in taijutsu,genjutsu,inyelligence and handseeals,3 of those are useless to gaara and his fightong style,which leaves only intelligence,but too bad gaara's raw power more than makes up for that. So your databook argument goes out the window just like all your other onesxd. Fyi all those databook scores are for gaara himself,not his sand,so most of them are irrelevant to use.
Itachi is not faster than sasuke's enton,itachi is not faster than instant explosions,itachi is not faster than a rising forest,gaara's sand has reacted to all these easily,itachi dosent light a candle to gaara's sand speed with all those feats.manga>databook.

First of all. Itachi using clones not for offense, hes using them for diversion plus they can explode. Your sand clones are more or less useless so far in manga, itachi has water nature dont forget that. Water > sand.
By yours scenario gaara simply locks himself into sand ball and gona capture itachi with his sand tsunami or coffen?
Itachi can easily use clones to fool gaara witch would definetly be like that and use one long range attack destroy his sand ball or simply use totsuka to stab through him and seal him.
Gaara cant even scratch itachi.
P.S. Susanoo shield without yata is able survive his sand atacks. Just go and reread kages submit arc. Pathetic....

gaara also uses clones as well,his sand clones useless?,a single one was able to fool and resrtain the mizukage after taking the shape of onoki to trick him,another one proved tough enough to hold it's own against joki boy long enough for gaara to get gold sand,itachi's clones are actually more useless in the show,and the clone exploding wont bother gaara,seeing that he handled an explosion that levelled a building when he was 6xd.

How many clones can even itachi make with his pathetic levels of chakra?,and then go on to use ms jutsus. IIRC when he uses his ms jutsus 3 times,he turned off his sharingan completely,and gaara has sensor sand which can easily detect the real itachi while gaara leaves his superior sand clones which have more chakra in them than itachi's owns and can regenerate to deal with the fakes.

I have already seen the kage summit arc,and gaara blocked 3 entons like child's play,would have broken sasuke n half if sasuke didnt form the bigger version of susanoo,gaara attacked with sand drizzle in thet fight. Gaara can easily take advantage of the under opening of susanoo which means itachi os a dead duck,not to mention itachi can't even hold his susanoo for 5 minutes b4 dropping dead LOL. gaara cant beat sasuke and if his sand is already spread in the ground then gaara would win against itachi cause he wouldn't be caught in his genjutsu but if its a sudden fight where neither is prepared then gaara would lose to itachi
so if gaara has prep time he can at least take itachi otherwise gaara dies

And one more thing, by you because sand isnt elemental attack it would srike through yata mirror? Please dont compare madaras regular susanoo shield and attacks with legendary weopons and use them like example here. According to black zetsu(madara) hes invincible with yata plus totsuka. Saying what gaara can beat itachi you disapprove with manga, kid.....

As I know the Yata Mirror is a shield, it can't protect the Susanoo completely. But Gaara can attack from all directions. He can simply bury Itachi under the sand and wait 5 mins until he runs out of chakra. It's a cheap victory, but is a victory.

I'm not a Gaara fangirl, nor an Itachi hater. I'm neutral. And I think ( actually I know) that Gaara can defeat Itachi. geni expalined why.
itachi can make just abt 2 clones tops,his chakra is shitty.gaara simply needs sensor sand to find their location,then makes several sand clones to deal with the fakes while he deals with the orignal.gaara's sand sensing found muu who had no form or chakra,which sasuke's sharingan can't do,so please dont compare them.
Blade of totsuka is just a variant of kusanagi blade,it's a legemdary weapon,so what?,a small sand protected gaara from 5 susanoo attacks at the same time when he wasnt even looking. Itachi's clones do not really matter, they are weak clones and can be destroyed easily by Gaara. Actually comparing Itachi with the mizukage is laughable, during the mizukages time he has fought against really powerful ninjas who itachi can never beat, he has fought many wars and itachi has fought non, he has fought more battles than Itachi and is older than him, so his battle experience is far more than that of itachi.
What a childish question. Sasuke has to look around in order to spot the clone but as long as the clone is on the sand/ ground Gaara can sense him easily.
Legendary weapon my foot, orochimaru's sword is legendary but what has it done for him really. Not even itachi can block five susanoo swords without getting damaged.
It has already been shown how Gaara has blocked several more powerful attacks than your precious totsuka which is all hype and has no real feats.
Magatamas my foot. Gaara has blocked c3, jokey boy, meteors, five susanoo swords which are all more powerful than itachi's magatamas.

1) gaara can make sand clones of his own which can not only disperse into sand,but regenerate from damage,and he can make more clones than itachi can. Gaara would just let his own clnes deal with thse of itachi's.
2) dont know what you are sayin abt mizukage and muu,but gaara sensed them easily,muu himself acknowledged it and gaara found the clam through mizukage's genjutsu and showed onoki where it was,so him sensng the clones,which itachi can make like 2 or maybe 3 would not be difficult especially when he has several of his own clones around.
3) gaara dosent have to worry aby blocking that sword,his sand blocked one when he wasnt looking,and i am sure he can bring his sand to protect him in time if he managed to react to a rising forest.
4) shushi's eye only works for his own ms,and it is a bloody crow,can a crow bypass gaara's sand?
