(Katon: Hōsenka no Jutsu) - Fire Release: Phoenix Sage Fire Technique
Analysis: This is an offensive C-Rank technique which can not go further than short range. It costs little Chakra, but causes a good amount of damage. This technique requires the use of six hand seals which are Rat → Tiger → Dog → Ox → Rabbit → Tiger. The user has to also inhale a decent amount of air in, and mould Chakra in the stomach. This Chakra is then superheated to give it properties of fire. This Chakra travels to the lungs to mix with the air before reaching the mouth. At this point, the user exhales this Chakra, and fire is released. Just before it is released, shape manipulation is used on it, to make the fire into the shape of fire balls.
When the fire balls leave the mouth of the user, the user controls the fire ball through the Chakra in the fire balls, allowing the user to aim at the target with an unpredictable movement, as the fire balls are controlled by the Chakra. These fireballs are slightly bigger than Shuriken, allowing the user to slip a Shuriken or a few into different fire balls, which will hit the target. These Shuriken in the fire are also controlled by the Chakra.
Isn't this technique one of those classified as a projectile? I thought that projectiles were out of a users control as soon as they leave the user. So can other techniques also be controlled with Chakra, or is it only this one because of all the hand seals used?
Advantage(s): The great thing about this technique is that Shuriken can be hidden within the fire balls. This means that when the target is hit, they will get burnt, as well as deal damage from the Shuriken. So it's two in one.
Another good thing is that this technique is short range. Since it is short range, the target will not have much of a reaction time to dodge it, especially with it also being controlled by Chakra. It will be extremely difficult to dodge this technique.
One more thing about this technique is that it is a very good distraction and it does not require the usage of much Chakra. Since the target will be desperately trying to dodge, the user can quickly perform another technique, and catch to the target by surprise, as this technique is mainly used as a distraction.
Disadvantage(s): A major drawback to this technique would be the amount of hand seals that need to be performed. It would be best to use this if a person specializes in Katon, as they can perform the hand seals much faster. Or, the user will have to start performing the hand seals before entering short range.
Just like how it is a good thing for it to be short range, it can also be a bad thing, as the user can not reach opponents who are at a longer distance.
Ways to counter:
1- This technique could be countered by the use of a Sharingan. Sharingan users would be able to see the unpredictable movements of the fire balls and therefore defend against it by using a water or earth technique.
2- A water or earth technique could be used. Although I am not sure if the opponent will have enough time to perform those counters?
(Katon: Honoo no Saigai Hi Kagayaku no Jutsu) - Fire Release: Flame of Disaster Fire Shine Technique
Analysis: This is also an offensive technique but it can reach up to mid range. It does not require much Chakra, but nonetheless, it causes good amounts of damage. There are no hand seals required here, so it is pretty simple and straightforward to perform. The user gathers up Chakra in the stomach, at the same time inhaling a large amount of air. They then mould the Chakra by superheating it, giving it properties of fire. This fire Chakra is then taken to the lungs where it mixes with the air, before going to the mouth, where it will be released. When the fire Chakra is leaving the mouth, it does not need much shape manipulation on it as it is just a giant flame that is released; a flame as big as the target. It will then travel to the target, and upon contact, this giant flame will wrap around the opponents body, surrounding them in fire. This will ensure that their whole body gets burnt.
Advantage(s): This technique does not require any hand seals, so it is very fast and easy to perform. I'm not sure about the speed of the flames though. Would they travel fast to the opponent?
Also, this technique wraps the targets entire body leaving them burnt, which will also not allow them to not move whilst in this technique.
Disadvantage(s): It can not reach opponents who are in long range.
Since the flame is so big, when it leaves the users mouth, it will most likely hinder their sight, allowing the opponent to perhaps make a sneak attack. Shadow clones may be used for this.
Ways to counter:
1- A water technique can be used to extinguish the flames and continue on to injure the user.
2- An earth technique could also be used to block the fire.
