A stream is something which flows I guess and is constant. So in the context of this element, a stream would be the type of Jutsus in which the user releases the fire as a steady stream. So it leaves either their mouth or their limbs, and it continues to do so until the chakra which was gathered for that technique runs out. They also do not require much shape manipulation as they are just let out continuously, and all the chakra in the stream are evenly spread out, unlike projectiles which can have the chakra split into a few fireballs and so on. Streams are usually narrow from their point of exit and become wider the further they go. This gives a wider range for the user to attack with, since if they just turn their head or one of their limbs, the fire stream would change direction. But I'm thinking, the further away the user is from the target, it will take slightly longer for the whole stream to change direction right till the end of it right? Because first the base of the stream will move and then the end will move last, so it may take like a second more if they are further away. Also, the streams have a constant requirement of chakra, since they are not being released as projectiles. This can be a disadvantage, since the user will be vulnerable to attacks at the time because they can not perform any other Jutsus whilst that one is active. But I guess they can stop it then to perform another one. Also, can some streams lift the user up into the air due to the force? And can the streams be manipulated even at the tips of the fire stream by the use of chakra to change direction without moving the head or limbs?

I don't think you can do that. You have to angle your head sidewards, or possibly shift your body, to alter the stream's direction.

I'll input my knowledge about streams.

Streams: A stream is a constant and well defined flow of an any material. For eg: a stream of water. Here, you gather chakra, and then simply release it in a steady flow outwards toward your target and you maintain that steady flow until the chakra you've built up for the technique is no longer there. This means that streams have their power spread out evenly throughout the technique as opposed to several individualized bursts of chakra that have their own capabilities, meaning you have to constantly focus on your chakra, however, you're free to alter the direction of your attack, since you still maintain the control over it until the amount of chakra that is built up gets exhausted.

Advantages to Method

With constant flames, you have a set level of power coursing throughout your entire technique, as opposed to projectiles where you may end up releasing several projectiles with limited strength. You also have a larger range of fire with these techniques for the most part. With projectiles just covering single points, to a certain distance, constant stream based fire technique provide you with a wider area of attack.

Disadvantages to Method

The biggest disadvantage these types of techniques seem to have is the weakness of being unable to perform another technique while the one they currently use is in effect. With projectiles, you channel all the chakra for the technique into that one (or several) shot(s) of fire and once it's released, you're freed up to preform even more techniques for attack or defense, etc, etc. However, with constant flames, you're constantly fueling the chakra and feeding the technique. Without Yin Yang release to possibly control more elements at once, the user must stop the technique they're doing to change natures or even techniques of the same nature. This gives your opponent various openings, attacking you with a technique that forces you to maintain that technique while they attack from different angels. If they have the free hands and you don't they can easily take advantage of that, leaving you helpless.

The techniques below are easy ones to identify as a stream, so I'll teach you these first. Now, your job is to list all D-A Rank Katon techniques, which would obviously fall under the 'stream' category. I won't teach you the ones you've already learnt, but I want to test your knowledge.

(Katon: Gōen no Jutsu) - Fire Release: Great Flame Technique

Description: The user does one handseal and inhales while molding a great amount of chakra into their lungs and expelling a large stream of flames from their mouth. The user has control over the concentration of the technique, being able to produce a narrow jet of flames, highly concentrated or one that will widen along its range. The flames are hot enough to quickly evaporate large quantities of water within a relatively short amount of time.

This was used by the Sarutobi clan against the Ten Tails. This is one of my most favorite fire techniques. It's pretty simple. You weave one handseal, inhaling a large amount of air while you gather up a very large amount of chakra in your lungs. You mix the inhaled air with your fire chakra and exhale out a super tremendous stream of flames, akin to a flamethrower. Either, you can focus your chakra at one singular point to make the stream very concentrated, which does greater damage, although it loses horizontal width then. You can also release it like a normal stream, which would start narrow, but widen as it travels, covering a very wide area, and is very destructive. Even small contact with the flames will turn the opponent into ash. These are so hot that they can evaporate massive water bodies in seconds.

(Katon: Gōka Mekkyaku) - Fire release: Great Fire Majestic Annihilation

Description: A technique where the user makes the horse hand seal and then kneads chakra inside his body which is then converted into fire and expelled from the mouth as a massive wall of intense flames, which covers an expansive range in both vertical and horizontal dimensions, making it extremely difficult to avoid. However, due to its massive width and height, the technique is not one of the fastest seen so far.

S-Ranks are beautiful, and so is this technique, which is one of my favorite to use. You weave the Horse handseal and inhale a large amount of air, while kneading massive amounts of Katon chakra, after which you mix the inhaled air with your Katon chakra and channel it to your mouth. You then exhale out the fire, in the form of a massive stream of destructive hellfire which widens in it's range as it travels, akin to a flamethrower. Once the flames hit the ground, it blasts forward, widening suddenly into a gigantic wave of fire. The width is so high, that it covers a very tremendous area as it travels, scorching and melting the very ground as it travels, and rising a certain height in the sky. However, due to the width and the height it possesses, it doesn't travel as fast as a normal fire stream would travel. It is destructive enough to burn the entirety of a forest in mere seconds. The downside is that, due to the unthinkable area it covers, the vision of your opponent is hindered to you, and the vice versa respectively. This is one of the strongest Katon techniques in the manga, as well as in the canon Fire list. A lot of people use this casually, and exploit it way too much. It required upto 10-15 Suiton users to extinguish the flames, in the manga, and the anime.

(Katon: Gōka Messhitsu) - Fire Release: Great Fire Destruction

Description: A technique where chakra kneaded inside the body is converted into fire, and then expelled from the mouth in a massive stream of intense flames, after doing the Rat → Ox → Dog → Horse → Monkey → Boar → Tiger hand seals. The technique has an enormous range and can cover a huge area. When it was used by Madara Uchiha, the massive scale of the technique was such that, in comparison, his incomplete Susano'o seemed small. The main advantage of the technique is that it can be used to burn large areas in an effect in everything similar to a flamethrower.

Another of my favorite techniques. Call it a sibling of the previous technique. This was used by Madara from within his Susano'o against the 5 kages. You weave a certain set of handseals, and knead Katon chakra in your lungs, exhaling out a super powerful stream of flames. The stream is so wide that Madara's incomplete Susano'o itself seemed like an ant in comparison. You can burn down entire forests and wipe out entire landscapes in seconds with this, given that the stream has a very high temperature and can turn down everything to crisp. Again, it works like a flamethrower, destroying everything in it's path. This is faster than the previous technique.

(Katon: Gōen no Jutsu) - Fire Release: Great Flame Technique

This is the one technique out of the S-Ranks streams which has a range of up to mid range. It is of course very powerful as it stands at the top with the other S-Ranks. I find this technique quite handy as the user can change the concentration of the technique. When it is made thin, it has a lot of concentration and so it can damage a specific point more than it would damage if it was less concentrated but wider. It would be good to make it narrow if there is only one opponent, and also if that opponent is in a tight spot. Also, concentrated streams may be aimed not at the opponent, but perhaps something next to them. This would for one, confuse them. And another, it could be used to strike something allowing it to break onto the opponent. It would be effective to make the stream wider and less concentrated if the opponent moves around too much and is harder to aim at, since with narrow streams the user must be precise or else chakra will be wasted. The wider range would make it easier to then hit the opponent. It is also a great technique to use against multiple opponents, as it can cover a large range. I think this ability to change the concentration makes it a very versatile technique in comparison to the other fire techniques. This technique is also fast to perform as it only requires one hand seal. But, it requires a lot of chakra due to the large amount of damage it causes. This technique is so hot that it can vaporize large quantities of water in mere seconds, this would make it disadvantageous to ninja who rely on water to fight, as their water source could be taken away with this technique.

(Katon: Gōka Mekkyaku) - Fire release: Great Fire Majestic Annihilation

Unlike the previous one, this technique can extend up to long range. It is also very powerful and is used by performing one hand seal and after molding fire chakra, it is released form the mouth. It leaves as a stream which heads over to the opponent. When it reaches, the stream hits the ground in front of the opponent and it blasts upwards, making a large wall horizontally and vertically. The opponent would then be caught in it and since it is so big, it is a very difficult technique for the target to avoid if they are not prepared for it. It is probably good to use it after binding or occupying the target. Also, since it is so large, the fire wall covers the sights of both the fighters. Also due to the range, the opponent can not escape by using a technique to move upwards by jumping, as the fire reaches a great height. But since this technique is so large, it is not as fast as some others, and so the opponent can still have adequate time to make arrangements.

(Katon: Gōka Messhitsu) - Fire Release: Great Fire Destruction

Whilst this technique is pretty strong, it requires seven hand seals, so it would be a little slower than the other two techniques. It would not be a problem though for ninja who specialize in this element. It's speed of travel is faster than the previous one though. This one seems more like a generic fire stream, except it is super powerful. So since the stream widens out considerably when it is let out, it can take out multiple people at once if they do not defend from it. However, again sights will be blocked due to the range of this technique. I might use it if I am in the air, as that would also give me a greater field of view. These large techniques can also wipe out large areas like forests, so if it is known to the user that there are enemy ninja in a specific forest, all they would have to do is just burn down the whole forest without the need of having to confront the enemies. This one can probably also vaporize large water sources.

Well, all in all, these S-Ranks are pretty powerful and they should be used with caution. If used carelessly, they would only serve to disadvantage the user as it would block their view.

Now's time for method 3.

Method 3: Alternative Releases

This method encompasses techniques that fall within the category of Katon, yet do not actually produce Fire but rather a substance that possesses properties that can aid fire. In short, it's Fire release that doesn't possess fire. The substances that are created using techniques within this method are generally flammable mists or thick clouds of ash that is highly combustible. However there can be techniques that do utilize fire with another medium to create an even greater source of fire, i.e lava, which allows for the technique to be considered an alternative method of release. As far as chakra goes for build up of techniques within this method, one would gather their chakra as they normally would for katon, however before release they would only superheat it enough to keep it in a level of purgatory between becoming actual fire or not and temper the technique to come out the way they want it (mist or thick clouds of ash) and then, based on how the technique is (if it's wide spread like a stream) they would release the chakra manifested into that entity. As for the alternative techniques possessing fire, one would simply release fire the way they would, combining it with the second medium to create the stronger element to get the results. For example, to create lava, one use Fire+Earth. Create the fire with Katon, mix it with earth and the results will be a Katon technique that equals Lava.
Advantages/disadvantages of the method, doubts, etc.

The good thing with this method is that it makes another form of fire, which makes the element more interesting. When gas is released, it can not be seen, and so if the enemy does not know that a flammable gas has been released and it is lit with fire, the enemy will be burnt. It is good for stealth attacks. There is also ash then. Ash can be used to hinder the targets view, and can probably also ignite and burn the opponent. Lava is also an alternative release. It can be powerful, and would be wonderful to use against opponents which use mainly elements that are weak to it. And since it uses two elements, it is stronger than other techniques.

Disadvantages with this method would be for example with the flammable gas. If the user releases it, and so not take notice of strong wind blowing that day, it would blow back to them. And if it ignites, it would burn the user instead. It could backfire, so the user must be careful when using this alternative release of fire. Also with the ash, it hinders vision. But it can be blown back to the user, affecting them instead. Another thing is that when the chakra is being molded for these, it is not superheated fully. Since ninja are used to doing it fully, it may be a little difficult as it might not be so easy to have the skills of superheating it exactly how it is meant to be.

Not really. The gas does have a colour to it, so the opponents can simply blow away the gas. But, well done overall.


Advantages To Method

A big advantage I see is that this method provides versatility to the element, allowing for shinobi to use more than one way to release fire. Generally the techniques in this method are fire augmenting techniques that allow for one to add flames with techniques from this method in order to produce a grander technique. The techniques also engage in a larger ranger relatively, having a wider range of attack.

Disadvantages to Method

Arguably, one could use Katon's own natural weakness to avoid techniques involving mist or clouds of ash. Though still Katon release, these entities do not actually possess fire from the beginning, thus the result in it of itself isn't in fact Fire that can be augmented by wind techniques. Mist or ash clouds can be blown away or forced to stay on another path.

Lava Release, meaning the KG, is done by mixing Earth and Fire chakra natures, to form Lava natured chakra, whereas for eg, mixing a solid projectile of earth with a stream of fire or a projectile forms molten earth, which is somewhat like Lava in nature, but not actual Lava. Actual Lava can only be formed by Lava Release.

A potentially useless technique, but here it is. After gathering your Fire chakra, you channel it to your leg, stomping the ground as hard as you can. This powerful stomp causes an underground tunnel of sorts to be created. You then, exhale out a powerful stream of fire at the tunnel underground. Obviously enough, there would be debris, rocks, and all sorts of earthen materials. The exhaled stream is so hot that it can easily melt rock. As you would blow the stream, the force of the stream would push the rocks and debris, as well as melt them. With one handseal, you control the lava like material to erupt below your opponent, which would easily burn them alive with the slightest contact. A very long tech, and nearly useless thus. The opponent usually escapes into the air, but you can use it after trapping them in a genjutsu or something of those sorts.

This technique is one that takes place underground until it is erupted by a single hand seal above the surface. Although this technique is slow, I think it is still a great technique when used in the right way. If I was to use this, I would use it as an opening move if I was to go first. This is good because the hand seal is performed after the molten fire in the ground underneath is ready. This means that even if it is slow, when used in the beginning of a fight, it would not matter since the opponent can not stop their technique at that time, I think... Anyways, about the stomping on the ground which would alert the opponent, it could be done in a subtle way, perhaps pretending that the stomp is for something else. It is also good how this technique can be used up to long range. In fact, I think it is actually best to do it in long range, as that way, the opponent will be less likely to notice the stomp. This technique is also great to use when the opponent is hiding in the ground. They would die if they were hit by this underground. But the best way I think is when the opponent is airborne. The user can make the timing that as soon as the target lands on the ground, the fire will erupt onto them. This is awesome because the target would have been in the air, and so would not have even felt any vibrations in the ground and may have not noticed the user stomping their leg, which makes for a great surprise attack. Because if the opponent is on the ground, they could probably feel the vibrations and jump away. But it's true, this technique is slow, and for that, I guess it can be stopped by the opponent unless they are in a tight situation. But if the target is hit, they would be very heavily damaged as it is quite a powerful technique, but timing is just necessary for it.

Excellent. With that, method 3 is over. Now's the final method. Miscellaneous. I think this method is pretty self explainable. Well, this method is reserved for techniques which are different from each other. They do not fit into any of the other three because of that. Some techniques from this list are combinations. This means that there are two elements in one Jutsu, which saves a slot in a battle whilst adding another element to the technique. Then there are those techniques which require the user to send their chakra into the atmosphere, and the fire will materialize without physically having been released from the users body parts or mouth. I guess this is not predictable by the target since they can not see it occurring. There are also techniques which are released from the mouth, and then they take shape around the target, like wrapping around them. And there is one technique here which requires a sword before using it. Shinobi who do not carry swords can therefore not use it. There is also a technique which requires another technique to have been previously activated, otherwise it will not work. Shadow clones are also used in a couple of them here. Shadow clones are quite interesting to use, as you can make them do unpredictable things.

One of the most widely used fire techniques in our RP. I killed a testee in the Rain test, using this technique. So, you knead your Katon chakra into your legs, and then stomp the ground with any of your legs with great force. This releases the chakra into the ground, and wherever you want the chakra to be manifested, obviously upto mid range. Then, you divide your chakra into 3 parts, and shape manipulating it to form three, tall, flaming pillars of fire to burst out of the ground. The pillars can act as a wall against incoming projectiles, etc. But, almost all of the RP'ers form the pillars in such a way, so that one pillar bursts out below the opponent, and the other two burst out in such a way, that all three of them form a triangular shape. It is quite expected that your opponent would use a water technique to douse the fire, so you can keep that in mind, and follow up with an earth technique, or a lightning technique, which I did in that Rain test. One of my favorite fire techniques.
