I know there are a few threads guessing the identity, but I think some analysis needs to be done on Sasuke's "The One That Knows Everything" comment. Everyone guesses without giving any thought to what "everything" is.
Inf 591, Itachi releases the edo, leaving Sasuke in a cave, alone, with an identity crisis stricken Kabuto.
He starts to say, "I'm...," but he stops.
In 592, Sasuke does not finish the sentence he started, because, in looking at Kabuto, he realizes that he, too, does not know who he is or who he should be. He has Unanswerable Questions:
"What is a Clan? He thinks of his father's idea of the clan, in contrast to his brother's.
"What is a Village?" He thinks of Konoha, and the Surutobi crew, who were all complicit in the destruction of his clan, but he also thinks off the other kage, including the Fifth, in contrast, doing what they can to save all clans.
"What is a Shinobi?" And he thinks about Naruto, Sakura, Kakashi, and the rest of the Konoha 11, who have gone to incredible ends to try to save him from himself.
"What am I?" He thinks of his sharingan, his anger, and Kabuto's pitiful existence living lie after lie.
Sasuke has always defined himself as an Uchiha, but what should that mean? He realizes now that he has no idea. He wants to stand in the memories of all as the ultimate representative of what it is to be Uchiha, but he simply does not know what that example should be.
Before he can consider it, he hears that Madara is alive still, and this causes him to resume thoughts about who he should be.
He thinks about his brother, and how his brother believed that what was right for the village and the Uchiha clan were consistent with each other. Shisui, too, another of the greatest names among the Uchiha, felt the two were symbiotic.
He also remembers that his brother felt that it was his duty, for Konoha, to end edo, and Madara, in his continued existence, is an insult to the success of Itachi's mission.
Before he can speak, Suigetsu gives him the scroll.
We know the scroll:
(1) Has information or power that enables the wielder to rule the shinobi world.
(2) The scroll was in orochimaru's testing layer, where Edo was perfected.
(3) The scroll is "it." "The clan. the village. I'm going to meet the one who knows everything."
(4) However, Orochimaru, upon seeing the scroll, said, "What do you want to meet them for?"
(5) To speak to them, they must travel to someplace very familiar to Sasuke.
I've got my own theories, but, using the totality of these facts, can someone clearly delineate their position on who the "one" is (i.e. not just saying "Izuna" and walking away but actually going through how Izuna meets these requirements)?
