I'm glad that you love Doton so much that you felt the need to warn me. =D
I love it when a Sensei teaches me their preferred Element/ Subject, it makes the Training that much more fun. Coyote's favorite Element is Water, so I asked for Water. Crutch Kaguya's favorite Element is Wind, so I asked for Wind. I'm not sure if it's his favorite Subject, but I'm having a blast with Negative Knight in Kenjutsu. I hope we can have a lot of fun, while I learn as much as you're prepared to teach.
I also end up saying this to all my Sensei's. (No kidding) Congrats on passing, and thank you for accepting me as your student. I will try my very best to live up to the expectations you have for your students.
I would also like to thank you for giving me a "full house". I now have training in all of the basic 8. And I did it without the use of a pun in any of the titles. (And trust me... I had a few in mind >_>)
Shayde was excited to finally learn Earth Release. His teammates and others were constantly using Suiton, knowing there was no way he could effectively counter them. Well that was to change today!!
"I wonder what this new Sensei is like... I just hope I do well..."
Shayde takes a seat on the ground and get's into a meditative position.
He had been waiting for this moment. All these hours of being buried in the ground, and now his efforts had payed off. His entrance was going to be grand, absolutely superb!
Slowly rising from the earth, unmerging from the ground just as he had merged into it to begin with, Gildarts Clive grinned as his eyes became normal once more, and he could see the woman changing in her room. As Gildarts grinned, he chuckled, which gave away his location. Squinting his eyes as the woman screamed a blood-curling howl, she kicked Gildarts in the nose and began to stomp on the top of his head to force him back into the ground. Without his hands available, Gildarts scrunched his nose several times in attempts to soothe the pain as he retreated back into the ground; he got what he had come for, and now he was needed elsewhere.

Making his way to the training ground, Gildarts slowly slid up from the ground, blood running down his nose as he looked at his opponent, a glazed look in his eyes as if he could understand nothing of the world around him. His eyes wandering, Gildarts eventually noticed that his student was a guy and literally jumped back a few feet. Whoa! Oh, sorry there...Wiping the blood from his nose, Gildarts began to walk back towards the man, blinking several times to rid his eyes of the glazed effect. So, you're going to be my student in Doton, eh? Well, let me tell you that Doton isn't a piece of cake. It's more like a piece of rock!Chuckling to himself, Gildarts became unable to hold the laughter at his own joke and fell to the ground, his injured nose bleeding once more, his laughter becoming loud and uncontrollable. Raising into the air, his left hand made a fist and came crashing down onto Gildarts' cheek, the laughter stopping immediately. Slowly pushing himself to his feet, Gildarts wiped the blood from his nose, and then spat on the ground next to him. Anyhow, as I was saying, it's not going to be easy. You could even say that it's going to be... Hard...As Gildarts began to grin, his body instinctively acted against his mind and forced his hands to slap his face, first his left hand then his right. Shaking his head as though he had just had water splashed onto him, Gildarts took a deep breath and let it out. Sorry. Now, before we begin, I have to know that you understand everything. So tell me Earth's relation to chakra, it's relation to the other elements, and everything else you think you know about earth right now. Just tell me everything, and I'll make sure anything you missed will be covered.
Shayde was seated, waiting patiently for his Sensei to arrive. He noticed the ground start to move and shape itself in the form of a man. Gildarts appeared, then immediately leapt back... Why...? Exactly? A bloody nose and a big smile...
"Are you... Okay?"
Shayde takes another look at this guy.
His tattered cloak has obviously seen battle... His big grin suggests that he doesn't care much for it right now. But I bet... When he's fighting he's as serious as they come...
"So what's first Sensei?"
Shayde listened as his new Sensei started to talk... The moment he opened his mouth... Shayde started to regret asking him what was first...

Puns? You have got to be kidding me... Okay... This guy is just... So silly... Is he even my Sensei? This could just be some drunk who's made their way here and decided to piss about with me...
"Uhhh... It wasn't that funny..."
Gildarts smashed his own face with his hand to control the laughter, but the damage was already done... Shayde was beginning to wonder why his Sensei was... Well... He certainly wasn't what Shayde was expecting...
Seriously... What is with this guy...
"Let's see... Earth Release is..."
Earth Release is one of the 5 Basic Elemental Natures and it's based on the principle of creating or manipulating rock, mud, and basic earth. Earth Release has the latent ability to change the composition, density and shape of any existing source of Earth, making it stronger or weaker, heavier or lighter, larger or smaller. Each of these forms of manipulation have pro's and cons, and it is up to the user to decide how to use these changes to their advantage. Creating massive walls for defense or manipulating the Earth beneath your or your enemies feet are some of the ways Doton can be used. Earth Release is most commonly used by the Shinobi of Iwagakure, and the process of making Earth Release techniques usually involve use of the Snake hand sign.
Earth is strong against Water, as it can withstand the pressure Water Release attacks provide, but this may lead to the Earth becoming soft, like mud, and even weaker to it's main elemental weakness, Lightning. Lightning can easily travel through the Earth' dense structure and break apart the Earth. While Water is weak to Earth, it can also assist it. Giving an Earth Jutsu the force of a Water jutsu is a recipe for death. Thanks to the added force and pressure that the Water gives the Earth, it becomes a destructive force.
Some notable Earth Style users are Jirobo as he made a self healing Earth Jutsu that stole chakra from people, Hashirama Senju for obvious reasons, his Wood style is derived from Earth and had to have been powerful, Oonoki and Muu use the Weighted Boulder technique, which is an advanced technique that allows the user to change the density of anything they touch, by manipulation it at a molecular level, as well as the Dust Release which breaks anything down at that same molecular level.
It's involved in the use of Explosion, Lava, Wood and Dust Release.
"That's about the extent of my knowledge in Earth Release. Was that enough? Or would you like me to "excavate" some more facts from my brain...?"
Shayde immediately regretted taking part in the "punnery"...
Staring at his student after he finished talking, there was an irritated look in Gildarts' eye. Puns? What the hell do you take me for!? This is neither the time, nor the place, to make ridiculous puns! Now drop and give me fifty!! As he spoke, Gildarts' irritation appeared to manifest into rage, his expression becoming that of someone who was genuinely furious at the world around him. A few seconds after yelling, thought, his expression lightened, and he chuckled. Nah, I'm just messing with ya! No need for push-ups... Gildarts then rubbed his fist into the top of his student's head in a friendly fashion. But we may have to get serious soon... What you said was pretty spot-on, but it doesn't compare to actually performing doton. Now, while you start molding chakra... Clapping his hands together, Gildarts began to force a massive figure to emerge from the ground. As the golem stood over him, it grabbed his student in one hand. ...I'm just going to put you in a place where there's lots of earth. Eventually, you'll be able to tap into your Doton affinity... The golem then opened its mouth and placed Gildarts' student within its mouth, closing it to become like a cage, trapping the boy.

In the mean time I'll just take a nap... Closing his eyes and laying on his back, Mystogan started to relax, slowly entering a state of sleep as his student remained trapped within his golem.
The moment his Sensei started to speak again... Shayde was wondering why this man was so crazy. First he arrived in a somewhat flashy display of his skills, then proceeded to make an ass of himself. Then he shouts at him, just because he made a single pun. Gildarts told Shayde he was to do push ups... Was Shayde here to become better at Taijutsu? Nope. Didn't matter much, Gildarts was just messing with him... Even if he wasn't Shayde "ain't got time fo dat"...
This is going to be a long and difficult training session... I just know it...
Gildarts proceeded to rub Shayde's head, like he was some kind of juvenile.
"Hey, quit it!! I'm not just some kid you get to pat on the head, as if I've done a good job. I'll take my praise when I've mastered this element, not a second sooner."
Shayde watched in awe as Gildarts summoned a massive Golem. The size of it was only matched by the skill and ease that it took Gildarts to summon it. The Golem stood, towering above both Shayde and Gildarts. Shayde was too busy, looking at the size of the Golem to pay attention to his Sensei's words.

"Huh, what was that? I didn't quite catch... Hey!! What the hell?!!"
The Golem had picked Shayde up and place him in it's mouth. It was neither roomy nor comfy.
"When I get out of here I'm gonna kill you!! Mark my words!!"
Shayde words were nothing but a muffled cry to Gildarts, as the density of the Golem prevented his voice from going far, plus he was already dozing off... Shayde thought about the situation. Could he maybe blast his way out with a Lightning technique? Nope. He hadn't progressed that far in Raiton, besides. If he blasted his way out, his Sensei would probably find another way to make the training uncomfortable... Like bury him up to his neck in earth and tell him to do the same thing...
"God damn it... Why did this jerk have to be my Sensei..."
Shayde thought about the position he was in. Why did his Sensei put him in the Golem's damn mouth? If he wanted him dead, he would have just killed him and went on his merry way. If he wanted to teach me a lesson, why not speak to me face to face. He obviously wanted to put me in a position where he would learn something then.
Okay... It may not be the most conventional method, but I guess he want me to tap into the Earth Release, or at least the feel of the Chakra... Okay... I'd better get through this quickly. Don't want to be in here any longer than I have to...
Type: Supplementary
Rank: A-Rank
Range: Short-Long
Chakra: 30 (-10 per turn to keep active)
Damage: N/A
Description:
One of the Three Great Dōjutsu (San Daidōjutsu), the Sharingan is the kekkei genkai of the Uchiha clan. Unlike the other Dōjutsu, not all members of the Uchiha Clan possess the Sharingan. This great Dōjutsu seems to awaken only on exceptional Uchiha members and only in times of great stress. Once awaken, the pupil turns red and a single tomoe (巴) seal appears around the center pupil. As the user masters and evolves their eyes, the tomoe (巴) seals increase, topping 3 per eye. The main ability of the Sharingan, like any other Dōjutsu, is to enable the user to see the flow of chakra. This ability is further improved as the Sharingan gives color to chakra, enabling the user to differentiate chakras from different people or from different sources. Although the user can see chakra through matter, he cannot see beyond dense matter or in long distances. Coupled with the ability to see chakra, Sharingan users gain acess to an incredible clarity of perception that enables them to read insanely fast movements or minor details, enabling them the ability to foresee in an easier way, traps, incoming attacks, etc. This clarity of perception is so great that a Sharingan user can sometimes start performing a counter to an attack that is still being performed, enabling the counter to be launched only a split a second after the attack. This clarity of perception leaves Sharingan users able to track high speed movement easily as well as to read through handseals. This last ability enables them to learn techniques much faster and sometimes copy them directly from the enemy, as long as the user has the necessary chakra affinities and requirements to perform it. Finally, the Sharingan is often linked to Genjutsu and mind-manipulating illusions, mostly because the user can, mostly through Eye Contact, directly and precisely use his chakra to manipulate the enemy's chakra flow. In return, the users clarity of perception gives him the ability to more easily decipher visual illusions cast upon him and see past them. The Sharingan has a great cost to the user though. The chakra consumption disables its use for long periods of time and, even when the user grows stronger, it's still hard to keep it active for long periods of time.
Note: The user, if he hasn't gained full mastery over his Sharingan, will need to spend a move to activate it, although as long as he has chakra and enough stamina he'll be able to keep it active until the end of the match. If the user is Sannin Rank or above and has gained his 3 Tomoe Sharingan and held it for one month, he becomes able to passively activate it, meaning he'll no longer spend a move of his 3 per turn.
Note: To avoid direct Eye Contact and be able to focus only on the body movement below the chin, the opponent needs to have mastered Taijutsu to possess the necessary skill.
Note: Predicting the nature of a technique or what it exactly is requires the user to either know the technique or that its a cannon technique.
Note: Danzo and Kakashi bios activate the Sharingan by removing the covers in their respective eyes and suffer a +10 chakra consumption per turn penalty
Note: The user is bound by the abilities and limits of the stage of sharingan he possesses, stated in the rules of the KG.
Shayde activated his Sharingan and assessed the Golem.
Okay... So that's what Earth Style Chakra looks like. I don't want to try and copy his Chakra, it's too potent, too strong... I just have to get my Chakra as close to this as possible... Right, here goes...
Shayde closes his eyes and reflects on what he knows about Earth. It's strong, and doesn't yield easily to attacks. An admirable trait... It's universal, the constructs are only limited by the imagination. Making it among the most versatile Releases... Strong... Universal... Unyielding... Shayde focused on these things and nothing else. He began to feel strong, invincible. Like nothing could stop him. He applied these feelings of density and consistency to his chakra. It began to slowly take on similar properties to that of the Golem. He may not have liked it, but being surrounded by the Chakra in the Golem was helping... Even though he could have done it without the Golem...

With that Shayde proceeded to bang and shout to be let out of the Golem... Too bad his Sensei was fast asleep...
After trapping his student, Gildarts slept until morning the next day. Blinking his eyes slowly, Gildarts stretched and yawned as birds fluttered overhead, singing morning songs. Relaxing from his stretch, Gildarts looked around himself and widened his eyes. He left his student inside the golem all night!
Quickly getting up and running towards the golem, Gildarts leapt into the air, performing a back-flip as he focused his chakra into his foot. His foot coming into contact with the golem, a large explosion erupted from his foot and destroyed the golem; a decision Gildarts immediately regretted. As his golem crumbled, the rock pieces began to fall all around Gildarts, coming dangerously close. That... Was not good.

Cowering on the ground, Gildarts waited for the rocks to stop falling, and then slowly stood to his full height, scarred at first, but then taking on a heroic pose. Never fear, young student; I meant to do that! Now, could you tell me everything you learned last night?
Shayde had fallen asleep himself. He wasn't exactly comfortable, but he adapted to the surroundings soon enough... He used his ninja pouch as a pillow and wrapped himself up with his jacket, as the Golem wasn't exactly the warmest place. There were many jagged rocks that dug into him as he drifted off from the training. He dreamed about what he expected was his future, many great battles, great victories and crushing defeats, and it all lead back to here. The training he was receiving right now would help him in future endeavors. Morning had broke and not a single peep came from outside. Shayde could hear birds chirping... Stupid little creatures that would wake him up first thing... Now, he welcomed the sound, it was a nice distraction from the fact he was cold, uncomfortable, hungry and slightly depressed. He placed his hand on the cold wall of the Golem's mouth, trying to tell if his Sensei was still there. For all Shayde knew, he left him there to... Die... With no real way of escaping, Shayde was screwed if he did.
Did that jerk forget about me...? No... He wouldn't forget about me, he certainly better have a good explanation though... Leaving me in here overnight... That's not even remotely fair... Oh well... It's still early... I guess I should try and get back to slee...
The Golem began to shake violently, the only thing Shayde was thinking about was whether he was going to make it out of here alive and intact. The Golem erupted in another flashy display of his Sensei's skills... Something Shayde was beginning to resent... Debris was flying everywhere, and Shayde himself was violently thrown through the air, before landing but a few feet away from his Sensei. With what can only be described as "complete failure", Shayde performed the most perfect parallel, full body, face plant ever seen by no one... He laid there for a few seconds...
He meant to do that? Oh that was it...
Shayde's face was still firmly planted in the ground, but experts at the cipher division believe that his unidentifiable series of choppy utterances and guttural grunts equate to the following sentance:
"Beyond you leaving me trapped in the mouth of a Golem of your own creation for a full night, with the most uncomfortable living arrangement known to man, you blow aforementioned Golem up, with me still trapped inside, and you assume me to tell you what I have learned so far?
Okay... I have learned many things, and performed many a back flip this day, but none of it compares to the overwhelming desire I have to beat you to a bloody pulp, then continue my training..."
Shayde had finally gathered the strength to pick himself up after his (less than) stellar aerial performance and looked the man responsible for the tremendous amount of pain he had received... And he forgot about the anger and remembered why he was here... A few deep breaths later, Shayde spoke with poise and clarity...
"What I meant was... While my stay in the Golem was less than comfortable, I believe that I have tapped into the raw feelings that produce Doton. Determination. Even the smallest stones are usually hard as nails. Strong. Doton is not for the weak willed, the weak minded or the weak bodied. You must be physically and mentally prepared for the trials and tests that the Earth will throw at you[SUB], even if they are stupid Golem's...[/SUB] Universality. A user of Doton must be prepared for almost anything an enemy will throw at him. They must have a clear and precise state of mind. To stop the target. Now... If you forget about me next time, I swear I'll... I mean... What's next Sensei...?"
Gildarts was blissfully unaware of his student's anger, having sat down after asking his question with a stupid smile on his face. It was clear that he was oblivious to the world as he simply sat there for a few seconds after his student had stopped talking, his smile never-changing on his face until he realized the silence. His face becoming serious, almost scarred that he had been in a daze too long, Gildarts tried to get up by tripped and landed on his face in the scramble. Pushing himself into a kneeling position and spitting out dirt, Gildarts turned his attention back to the boy. Uhhh... Uh, good! Yes, that's exactly what I wanted you to get out of that. I couldn't quite... hear when you were mumbling, but the rest was good. Doton is one of the most versatile elements, and mastering in it grants a person a far wider variety of techniques than mastering any other element, in terms of what you can accomplish. Yeah it was good... Towards the end of his speech, Gildarts began to check under his fingernails, trying to remove dirt as he spoke. After he finished, he looked up expectantly at his student for a few seconds, before the half-serious, half-terrified expression came over his face once more as he remembered that he was the sensei, not the student, at which he quickly made himself stand up. Yes, so, umm... I guess the first thing we do is get you to mold your doton chakra... Once you've got enough, you need to focus it into the earth over... there, I guess. After that, you can cause two massive pieces of the earth to rise from the ground and clap together, crushing everything between. Remember, this technique is large enough to make an Akamichi who has grown to their full size look like nothing more than a child; you need to use a LOT of chakra in order to get it right- Part way through Gildarts' explanation of the jutsu renown for being the most powerful earth technique in existance, something hit him in the back of the head and knocked him out for a short while. Standing behind the man was another, dressed in a black robe covering his many layers of clothing, and a green mask which covered most of his face; all that could be seen, and even then just barely, were his eyes. My apologies. He gets jittery when he's excited; can't think straight. Not that he can think much to begin with... Turning his back, Mystogan began to walk away from the field. I shall be observing your training, young one, but he is your instructor, so treat him with an appropriate level of respect. Even if he doesn't deserve it, which he won't, at least treat him nicely. Mystogan continued to walk, and once he had walked far enough that he was no longer in view, Gildarts began to come to, propping himself up on one elbow while rubbing the back of his head where Mystogan's staff had hit him. Oww.... Where was I? Oh yeah, the technique! But... Ah, something hurts in my head... Sitting back, Gildarts looked up at his student. What do new students even do? I can't remember...
Why don't you just - ah... - focus your doton chakra into the ground over there and cause a pillar to rise from the ground. It doesn't take much shape manipulation, not a lot of chakra, and it's not too complex overall so it's easy to focus on. Once you get that, you can... uhh... I don't know, make some tools and shields and weapons, and things like that... Make it a bit harder for yourself with shape manipulation and- and coloring inside the lines... No matter what they say, that s*** is hard...
While you do that... *yawn* ...I'll just sleep off this bump on my- Before he could finish his sentence, Gildarts fell backwards and began to snore, his eyes closed and drool slowly collecting inside his open mouth, leaving his student to practice what had been described for him.
"You... Couldn't hear my mumbling? Oh I'm sorry, I sai..."
Wait a second... The only reason I'm not in some other Golem is because he didn't hear me... Better not push my luck here, I mean, he's already stuck me in one golem... Then blew the damn thing up... Don't want to think of what else he can do to make this training as uncomfortable as possible...
"Oh that... That was nothing Sensei I was just... Complimenting you on an amazing explosion... Hahaha... Ha..."
Shayde watched as Gildarts stared off into space, even cleaning his fingernails. An awkward silence soon ensued. Just as Shayde was prepared to speak up, Gildarts' face changed and he once more began speaking. Starting to tell Shayde to focus Doton chakra and simply perform just two massive pillars and have them crash together in a single display of sheer and utter power...
"WHAT?!! You can't be seriou..."
Before Shayde could finish his sentence, a mysterious figure turned up out of the blue and knocked Gildarts out with a single swipe of a staff.
What the... I didn't even sense his approach... He must be very skilled to even catch him off guard...
"Who are you and why did you do that...?"
The Masked Man gave not a name or even a moniker, he simply apologized and said Gildarts was like that. Jumping the gun, so to speak. he continued by reminding Shayde that Gildarts was the teacher and had to be treated as such, even if he didn't deserve it. He also mentioned that he would be nearby, watching the training progress. Chances are if Shayde tried anything funny or improper, he would probably step in as a "reminder"... The Masked Man began to walk away.
"Bu... Ah. Understood. Can I at least get a na... Gone... Oh well..."
Shayde waited a short period, to let his Sensei wake up. Once he had he began by asking,
"Hey, do you know a guy who... Never mind. Okay. What's first, Sensei...?"
Mold my chakra into Earth chakra then use it to shape a pillar? Sounds easy... Since he didn't tell me how big to make it, I'm assuming he isn't expecting a miracle.
"Okay, I'll get right on tha... He fell asleep again?! Jeez, how much sleep does this guy need? Fine... I guess I'll just... Practice until he wakes up..."
Shayde was ready to start practicing now, but the words of that Masked Man rang in his head...
"He is your instructor, so treat him with an appropriate level of respect. Even if he doesn't deserve it, which he won't, at least treat him nicely."
"Guess I'd better do this where I won't disturb him... Man... I can already tell this is gonna be a chore..."
Shayde walked a fair distance from Gildarts, as not to disturb him, but close enough that he could still see the snoring Sensei. He didn't want anything to go wrong after all... That Masked Man would no doubt hold him responsible and give Shayde a stern talking to... And with that, Shayde thought it necessary to begin right away, until his Sensei woke up... He could be there all week for all he knew. He began by remembering how he felt inside the golem, the feeling of being strong and durable... This training was going to be hard, even more so with his Sensei most likely sleeping all the time and generally making an ass of himself, but he knew he had to endure that if he wanted to be just as strong as the man himself. His chakra began to feel dense, like he was being weighed down. He began to focus as much Chakra into the ground as he could. Since he had many other Sensei teach him Shape manipulation, it was somewhat easy, but since it was his first Earth Style Shape Manipulation it felt different. Lightning was based on the users ability to vibrate their chakra and produce electrical currents using that vibration, Water was naturally free flowing and therefore easier to manipulate, since it has no real shape to begin with, Wind relied on the users ability to create thin and sharp chakra by grinding it against itself to create the thin and sharp nature, then making it suit the users need whether it be rotating blades, gusts of wind or simple enhancement, and finally, Fire being a specialty of Shayde's because of his blood, it was as natural as breathing, Fire simply relied on the user heating chakra, focusing it, and harnessing it to suit the user's needs, be it containing it in the shape of a ball, multiple controlled balls, streams, enhancing tools or wind or even adding flame to Earth itself. But nothing compared to the difficulty he was experiencing with the Earth. It was harder, more stubborn. The other 4 Elements were found in form that were easier to control, but Earth was and always will be Earth, nothing more nothing less, something Shayde forgot to accommodate for. He was too busy trying to completely change it that he was forgetting the nature of the Earth. Eventually he sat down and thought about why it wasn't really working. He looked up at the sky, the sun was high. He must've been at it for at least 3 hours. He was beginning to wonder if he would ever grasp it. Shayde looked over at Gildarts, still asleep. At least there was that. His Sensei was too busy sleeping to notice his ineptitude for Earth... He balled his hand into a fist, and without thinking drove it into the ground. He subconsciously added chakra to the mix, after all the times he tried to force it out, he was used to it and he hadn't tried to change the nature of the chakra. Without even meaning to, a pillar rose from the ground like a zombie, with Shayde seated on top. Shayde was so shocked that he leapt from the pillar and landed on his face... "Pulling a Gildarts" he thought to himself, while spitting the dirt and grass from his mouth... No, that wasn't fair. He didn't want to resent or insult his Sensei, but then again, acting like him wasn't a good sign either... He then promised himself that he would try his best to live up to the teachings he was subtly showing him. Even though he probably heard Shayde and what he mumbled, he didn't let it get to him. He didn't care what Shayde thought of him, he just grinned and bared it. With that, Shayde picked himself up and resumed his training, promising to thank his Sensei for what he had already taught him... Even if he hadn't learned any Jutsu yet he had already learned plenty.
It was high noon when Shayde had picked himself up, but now the sun was slowly setting. The Training field was wrecked with Earthen constructs. Pillars were formed with the technique and then had Kunai thrown at them. Earthen shields were made then Shayde rigged some traps for himself, trying to defend as many of his own tools as he could. More pillars were formed and Shayde used them as platforms, trying to hit designated points, while in the air. Every so often he would peek over at Gildarts, still sleeping and sometimes look into the trees that lined the field, trying to spot that mysterious man. The sun was setting and Shayde was covered in many cuts and bruises, his clothes were tattered and covered in dirt, truly it had been a long day of training. He took one last peek over at Gildarts, whether he was awake or not Shayde couldn't tell. He fell back and went to sleep, but just before dozing off he wondered how he did. He would find out in the morning by the look on his Sensei's face no doubt. For now, he was going to sleep off the longest day in his life...
Am I here to learn Doton, or Wallie Release? God damn, that took a while... Now I can see why this training will be long, but fun as all hell!! I can't wait to continue Sensei. XD
Gildarts awoke. Looking around, he found himself in a very dark place. Looking up at the sky, he saw something he hadn't seen in a while; stars. He had fallen asleep outside instead of a cute girls' bed. Standing up, Gildarts couldn't see to find his student. Taking a few steps forward, he hit one of the earthen pillars his student had made, crushing his face into it. Ow!he said, quite loudly. Reaching about him, Gildarts found plenty more pillars. This isn't going to be fun trying to find my way around in the dark... he thought. So, to solve his problem, Gildarts threw down a flashbomb to try and light up the area so he could see. Ah! Oh my god, it's so bright!! ARGHH!! Stumbling around in the sudden darkness, rubbing his eyes, Gildarts stepped on a sharp earth weapon. Taking a moment to register the pain, Gildarts had quite a delayed reaction before he began to yell and scream in pain as he fell to the ground, trying to pull the weapon out. For goodness sake, would it kill you to clean up when you're done!? Oh, that sounds good; goodness sake... (rice wine <.<) As Gildarts began to day-dream about his "goodness sake", he slowly began to come to without beating himself up, and instead summoned multiple lanterns of fire around him, which then spread out and acted as a light source so he could see what was happening.

Wow, would you look at that... Gildarts looked around at all of the earthen pillars, weapons, tools, and shields, trying to find his student amidst the mess. ...my freaking student is SLEEPING! Stomping on the ground, Gildarts caused a pillar to rise under his student's gut, intended to fling him into the air and cause him to land on the ground, waking him up.

Now, it's obvious you can perform the technique, but can you actually useit? I'm going to need you to tell me everything you can think of regarding this jutsu; tell me creative uses, drawbacks, ways to counter, when it's best used, when it's a terrible time to use... C'mon, we're burnin' daylight by me waiting for you, kid! Outside of the flame-lantern-lit area, the darkness of night surrounded Gildarts and his student.
Shayde was sleeping peacefully amidst the chaos he had created and left to clean later. He wasn't dreaming or anything special, simply resting. His eyes would flicker randomly, signalling that he was in deep slumber, only a very loud noise, bright flash or a decent amount of pain would wake him up before his body told him to do so. Unfortunately... It seemed like rest wasn't an option for him at the moment... First of all it was the *thud* of Gildarts stumbling on to his "training tools" that made him stir, followed promptly by the light of the flash bomb he threw down to help find his way that caused Shayde to begin to wake up...
"What the... *Sigh* 5 more minutes mom..."
This was odd as Shayde hadn't seen his mother since he was very young. This was most likely a bi-product of his disturbed slumber, either that or he was trying to relive simpler times. Nevertheless Shayde was beginning to wake up. As soon as his vision was no longer inflamed by the previous flash bomb, Shayde began to settle back to sleep, but not before Gildarts "found" another one of his tools. His yelling and exclamation once more stirred Shayde from his deep sleep.
"Ugh... What's going o..."
Before finishing his sentence, Gildarts summoned an army of flaming skull shaped lanterns into being. Each one combated the darkness that surrounded them by shining brightly, while giving off an eerie glow and a radiant heat. This disturbed Shayde's slumber once more, yet also provided warmth and comfort, something Shayde was lacking at that moment. But seeing as the brightness of the Demon Lanterns kept pulling him back from his sleep, Shayde decided it was time to get up, since peace, at this point in time, was an idle thought at best. He lifted himself up and leaned forward, trying to discern anything in the somewhat blinding light from the Jutsu, but to no avail. His muscles were still aching from the recent training regimen he put himself through, but he turned over and began to lift himself up. At that moment Gildarts stomped his foot on the ground and raised a pillar of earth into his students gut. The force from the pillar caused Shayde to be lifted into the air and tossed through it like a rag doll. Shayde felt a great deal of pain and distress from having his solar plexus traumatized in such a manner. Shayde landed, thankfully not on any of his earthen tools, and laid there for a moment, finding it difficult to breathe, having had the wind completely knocked out of him. As soon as he got his second wind, he stood up, looked Gildarts in the eye and opened his mouth. he was angry that his Sensei would take such a direct approach. Then he remembered his previous thoughts and the words of the Masked Man... He then hesitated to say anything rude or unbecoming of a student. With his mouth still wide open, he thought carefully about his words.
"I... I'm sorry Sensei. I shouldn't have fallen asleep... I totally deserved that. Next time I feel tired, I'll just... Keep it to myself and persevere... Right. What's next?"
Gildarts then asked Shayde to say aloud all the uses he could think of for this technique. Such a thing is necessary after all, if he is to show his aptitude and understanding in the use of this and all other jutsu.
"Okay then... Uh, well..."
I was using it to create pillars, tools, shields and other constructs. The pillars can be used to get the user out of easy situations like tools being thrown at the user. They can create the pillar beneath them to remove themselves from the line of the tools, but would make themselves a bit more of a target. Another method is to have the pillar made in front of you, this is useful as it also blocks the enemies line of sight, allowing the user a brief moment of confusion that they can exploit, either by creating clones or hiding in the earth or building up chakra for a large attack. The tools can be made as quickly as the user can draw tools from their ninja pouch, making them somewhat effective, and since they are made and compressed from solid ground, they can be just as strong as normal tools, and carry more weight, making them heavier and able to easily redirect other tools of similar size/ shape. The shield is the same as the pillar, but smaller and portable. I imagine it being similar to the wooden shield Yamato makes in the Chikara Filler Arc, the one he uses against Hidan at the beginning of the Arc. Beyond that, basic shapes and constructs are only limited by the user's imagination and the fact this is a D-Rank Technique. To some extent this makes Earth Release similar to Water Release in the fact that it relies on the users imagination to create tools and other things relevant to the current situation.
"So... Uh... Was that enough Sensei? Also, should I do this after every technique I perform?"
His eyelids drooping, Gildarts was hunched over as his student spoke. As he finished, silence engulfed the area for a while before Gildarts' mind could register that his student had stopped talking. Oh, what was that...? Sorry, I wasn't really paying attention... Gildarts then turned his head and began to pick his ear towards his student with his pinky finger. After a second or two, he stomped on the ground and made a staff of earth rise out of the ground, which he caught with his hand which was picking his ear. Holding the staff at his student's neck, Gildarts continued to stare away from his student as he grinned. I'm joking. You gotta take things a little less seriously, or you're gunna die out here. Lifting the staff quickly, Gildarts tapped it against his student's jaw, which would push his teeth together forcefully if they were gaping apart.

Type: Supplementary/Offense
Range: Short (Mid on throw)
Chakra Cost: 10
Damage Points: 20
Description: This technique allows the user to take a small chunk of rock and turn it into the shape of a staff. The user can then use it as a melee weapon or throw it with pinpoint accuracy at their opponent. A variation of this technique allows the user to create several staffs and launch them at the target, but with less accuracy.
I planned this whole thing from the begining; our training will take place at night, when it's dark out. Why? You have to feel the earth; know that your technique is happening. In a fight, you can't be watching yourself, your opponent, and your techniques to ensure that everything is happening as it should; you'll be mauled alive if you try. Confidence is what you need. It's like... Trying to talk to a pretty girl. You have to do it right, but at the same time, if you try to do it right, you'll fail. That is where your confidence comes in. These techniques are an extension of yourself; just as you can move your arm when you can't see it, so too will you be able to perform these techniques without looking. Holding out his hand, Gildarts quickly closed it into a fist, extinguishing his flaming lanterns. And yes, I do want you to describe everything about the jutsu as you perform it. Now use the earth technique again, but only form a staff; you'll be doing exactly as I just did. Once you've got the technique down, create a lot of staffs and see if you can get the hang of causing them to hover in the air. You'll be able to feel it if you can't do it; trust me. Remember what you said about the technique being limited by your imagination; all of doton is just that.

Sorry for the delay. Kind of got a bit fed up of stuff there, but I hope I can get back to training at a regular pace. My replies may lack a bit of detail until I get back into replying, so I apologize in advance. Anyway, training.
Again Gildarts was inadvertently and yet blatantly ignoring his student, a true feat of skill and wisdom, one that Shayde wasn't all too eager to learn but would no doubt have to put up with for the time being. Picking his ear towards Shayde, he was beginning to wonder if this was all deliberate... Then, in an instant, Shayde was put in a very uncomfortable situation. A very long, very sharp spear of stone was held directly below his chin, too close to his neck for comfort.
"Uh..."
Shayde didn't get to say anything since the spear was quickly lifted, closing his mouth for him. Gildarts then said he had planned all this from the beginning. Having the training continue at night. Aizen complex much? (Jk Jk ) He spoke of how being in total darkness would benefit the training, since paying attention to so many factors can be a distraction in a fight. That sort of made sense, but didn't explain how or why he would or could do this. He had no control over Shayde's actions. He already put Shayde in a prison for an entire night. Then one day was spent simply getting the hang of controlling the Earth itself... So many things could have gone differently that it was almost impossible to fathom that Gildarts was speaking the truth. Gildarts then extinguished all the lanterns in the area. And the training field fell silently back into the darkness of the night. Too bad the field was still a complete and utter wreck... So many thoughts were gnawing at Shayde's mind that he couldn't think straight.
How could he have planned this from the beginning. He trapped me in that damn Golem then he fell asleep, I was training for an entire day, then I fell asleep.. None of those events could have been determined by him... Could they? No, that's just silly. He couldn't have planned this all out. I can see why he'd say that though. And I can see why he wants me to train in complete darkness. If one of my main senses is rendered almost useless, I'll be forced to pay more attention to everything other than myself. I'll have to be prepared for anything. He is right though. If I want to get better, I shouldn't have to focus on my own actions. I shouldn't have to look at my hands when weaving signs or performing Jutsu. It should come as naturally as breathing. I guess I should get started...
Shayde put his hand on the side of the spear that was still pointed at him and moved it slowly to the side, where it was safe and couldn't pierce his throat or anything.
"Right. *sigh* Just need to focus..."
Shayde began to focus his chakra, but instead of changing it to Earth, he did the smart thing and flooded his eyes with the chakra, activating his Sharingan, and making it easier to see the previously built tools and pillars. He would clean them up later... Probably...
This ability is further improved as the Sharingan gives color to chakra, enabling the user to differentiate Chakra's from different people or from different sources. Although the user can see chakra through matter, he cannot see beyond dense matter or in long distances. Coupled with the ability to see chakra, Sharingan users gain access to an incredible clarity of perception that enables them to read insanely fast movements or minor details, enabling them the ability to foresee in an easier way, traps, incoming attacks, etc.
"That's better. Now..."
Once again, he built his chakra up, this time focusing it in his hands. Shayde lifted a medium sized portion of the ground and began to compress and shape it into a spear. Thanks to the amount of times he used the previous technique, the spear was easily and quickly formed into a similar shape of that of the one Gildarts was holding. It wasn't as sharp or as long, but it was good enough for now. Now, focusing more chakra into his system, Shayde lifted more chunks into the air, compressing each one into a spear. This process was much slower because their were more spears to create than before and more chakra was needed to control them in the air. Shayde tossed the one he held over towards one of the previously formed pillars. It hit the pillar and smashed it into pieces. Shayde then controlled the remaining spears towards more of the pillars. Some made contact, but it wasn't direct, not precise. This showed that controlling them with chakra reduced the accuracy for direct assault and targeting. Shayde turned around and did as instructed, detailing what he had learned from this technique.
"Hmm... Right, well first of all the technique seems to have great penetrative abilities, thanks to the shape and the force required to toss it, it adds momentum to it and makes it lethal if it hits a person, and slightly destructive if it's thrown at the environment. In addition, the user can create several spears and can control and toss them at the target, but with a lower rate of accuracy and less chance of being direct. The spears themselves are easy to make, handle and throw because they aren't intricate or unique in any way, they are simple spears. As for their speed, to create them it only takes a few seconds, which is okay for an Earth style technique like this. I think that's everything. I hope that was okay Sensei."
Goodness what has he done to you ;_; Perform the techs.

Description: The user will concentrate their chakra into their arm and then release their chakra creating a ring of rocks that are then flung at the opponent.
Now this one is another very simple one. You will gather raw chakra and then channel the chakra in their arm all the way through your hands. I want you to nature manipulate the chakra into doton chakra now and release that doton chakra from your hands. You will manipulate the doton chakra on your hands to shape them into small sized rock rings. I want you to create one in one of your hands and send it flying towards the dummy mid range from us. Hit him where ever you want.
Sorry for the extreme delay, I'll try to post as soon as possible from here on out.

Okay, I was going to post an image for this because I know exactly what it is, it's Onoki's Tilt Combo from the Naruto Storm games. The tilt has him lift several rocks from the earth beneath his feet and makes them form a ring around his body, which he then tosses over his head. In the game it has decent range and for some reason, a chance for knockback from a support. Anyway, this ain't Storm 3 online, this is NarutoBase and I have a technique to perform and dissect.
Perform the technique: The user gathers chakra, the technique states in their arm, and they change the nature of the chakra by focusing on making the chakra physical, sturdy and rigid. This change in nature and allows the user to create rock from the chakra. The user uses shape manipulation to control the rocks and has them circle their arm, and when they are ready, throw at the desired target. These rocks will deal basic impact type damage since they aren't very big or thrown in any special way.
Creative uses/strengths: No handseals are required, and it's just basic manipulation of the Earth Element, making the jutsu very quick to perform. The rocks surround the users arm/ hand, meaning they could possibly be used to enhance Taijutsu or block D-Rank Taijutsu as well as incoming tools. Since the projectiles are tossed as fast as the user wants them to, they can be thrown, them enhanced with Water style, to increase anything from speed to range to impact depending on how you support the rocks.
Drawbacks/counters: Since the rocks aren't very large they can be overpowered by just about anything. I mean, if they are made from and surround the arm, they can't be very large can they? This means the attack is better used in conjunction with other moves to enhance and strengthen it. As far as counters go, the most basic Lightning Style moves will break through this move.
With D-Ranks you don't need to. Just perform but now it does not matter.
(Doton: Ganban Kyu) - Earth Release: Bedrock Coffin
Rank: C
Type: Offense
Range: Mid/Long
Chakra Cost: 15
Damage Points: 30
Description: After performing the Rat hand seal, the user to control multiple sections of rock and move them around their opponent. The user then forms two gigantic sections that crush the opponent.
This is a rather simple straightforward jutsu. You will perform one hand seal and manipulate multiple sections of rock around the terrain, you will move them around your opponent and set them opposite of one another. The rock sections when set are rather large in size both width and length but not so much though you can not evade them. The user will make the two rock sections come together and crush the opponent together. Note that this technique can only be used up to mid and long range, this is because the sections are so large if they are close to the user their is a chance you will be crushed along side.
Perform the technique: I start by gathering chakra in my body, focusing it on my hands. I change the nature of my chakra to Earth by focusing on it's basic properties, eg; it's sturdiness. As soon as my chakra has it's nature changed, I slam my hands into the ground and use shape manipulation to alter the ground mid-range from me, creating several sections of earth that gather together to form a dome, in which one would trap their target. Once the dome has been formed, I focus more chakra into the ground, this time creating two larger pillars of earth that I bring together, crushing the dome I previously made, and any occupants within it.
Creative uses/strengths: The technique is very simplistic, you trap the opponent and crush them. Once they are in the dome, they may wish to escape via merging with the ground, a good way to stop this and combine it with the technique is to use the A-Rank Fire Style technique that boils the Earth beneath the opponent, then erupts. It's a good plan as they are already caught from above, with below being their only option, while they hide, you blow them up. Other plans could include trapping them in the ground with say the Head Hunter technique Kakashi uses, then crushing them, or using the combo Izumo and Kotetsu used, Water Release: Starch Syrup Capturing Field to trap them. The technique on it's own may be simple, but when used in conjunction with techniques like that, it's deadly.
Drawbacks/counters: With more than one step in this jutsu, you are left open. If the opponent can destroy the initial creation, the dome that traps them, they can target you directly, since they won't be in the one place for the sections of earth to crush them. Also, from watching the episode this Jutsu was shown in, I know the dome is relatively fast, but the crushing part was tedious and slow, that's how Yamato was able to escape, he merged with the Earth while the "crushing" sections took their sweet time.
(Doton: Moguragakure no Jutsu) – Earth Release: Hiding like a mole technique
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Long
Chakra cost: 15
Damage points: N/A
Description: The user changes earth into fine sand by channeling chakra into it, allowing the user to dig through it like a mole. While underground one can sense what is happening on the surface and use the information to launch a surprise attack on the enemy. Once can also hide deep in the ground, escaping to a depth where the enemy cant reach. It also appears that after digging, the ground can be returned to its original state, leaving no trace of where the user entered the earth. While inside the earth, the user cannot make handseals and can only use Earth techniques below C-Rank. If he tries to do a higher ranked technique, he'll disrupt the Hiding like a mole technique and be left crushed.
One of my favorite earth jutsus. The user will channel a large sum of there chakra towards the ground making it into quick sand pretty much and sink down in the ground. The performance of the jutsu is fast with no hand seals just focus and leaves no traces whatsoever. While you are underground you can move freely around however and wherever, also you can sense everything what is happening above ground this can help with always being on top of the situation of what is going on and you can set surprise attacks from below which is an area an opponent will usually not think about. While underground performing hand seals is impossible and you can also use only C-Rank earth and below. Now this jutsu is considered one of the dangerous as well as handiest for if the opponent ever catches or figures out you are in the ground they can easily disrupt the ground to have your chakra expelled from the area crushing you in the area, jutsus like world shaking will do. So never go underground with the opponents knowledge of it, you will be handicapped.
(Doton: Shinju Zanshu no Jutsu) - Earth Release: Double Suicide Decapitation Technique
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 10
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user, emerging from the ground below the target area, pulls down the opponent so that only their head is above ground. Unable to move, the opponent can easily be decapitated or tortured.
Note: user must already be underground through the use of (Doton: Moguragakure no Jutsu) – Earth Release: Hiding like a mole technique
Okay you see that dummy over there? I want you to get into close range of it. Send your chakra towards the ground below you and dig down by using hiding like a mole. When you are underground you should remember the dummies position and sense it. Stick you hand out the ground and grab the dummy by the ankle. Use the ankle to pull yourself while simultaneously pull your opponent down. You should be on foot and the opponents head should be sticking out only. From there decapitate the dummy making it a successful kill. Note something important is you must have already used hiding like a mole technique, so overall it would count as two jutsus. I want you to perform this jutsu. No need for the use of a template.
Woo hoo!! I always loved the look of this technique, but it has it's drawbacks. Still, it's a cool technique nonetheless.
Perform the technique: I start by channeling raw chakra through my body, focusing on the basics of Doton. Raw strength, sturdiness and an unbending will were only part of what makes Doton what it was. By concentrating on these feelings, my chakra's nature changes to Earth. I begin to release this chakra through my feet, breaking down the earth beneath me into very small pieces, allowing me to tunnel through the earth beneath and around me, depending on the situation. I assume that your chakra only affects the ground directly around/ beneath you, as the technique states " It also appears that after digging, the ground can be returned to its original state, leaving no trace of where the user entered the earth.", this implies that your chakra is actively affecting the immediate area, since the ground will/ can be returned to it's original state.
You must be registered for see images
Creative uses/strengths: It's simplest uses involve escaping from a particularly dangerous technique, but that use is obvious. More creative uses would involve using this to determine exactly how many shinobi one would be engaging in a fight in the NW, or even using this to silently take one's target out without hassle, since they would be required to know your location via Doujutsu or Sensory abilities to know where you could strike from. The additional use of being able to use C-Rank and lower Earth jutsu that don't require seals allows the user to basically control the playing field around the target to kill them (The Earth Release technique allows for free manipulation of Earth without seals, so you could in theory kill a target from below with a sharp spear or by splitting the ground beneath the target, making them fall. The creative uses are almost endless)
Drawbacks/counters: This technique may have some of the most simple counters imaginable. I don't have first hand experience using/ dealing with this technique, but I can see that the user can literally be screwed if the opponent figures out where they are. You mentioned that by disrupting the users chakra, they will be buried alive with techniques like world shaking, this much is obvious, but techniques like Swamp of the Underworld will bury the opponent alive, since the density of the surrounding Earth is changed to mud, the jutsu will be rendered useless since this was only shown used on solid earth. I believe one way to pinpoint the opponents location if they use this is to use the technique Minato used to track Kushina when she was kidnapped by the Kumo nin. I don't know if you can actually learn this technique or if it's unique to Minato, but if the target is "digging" through the Earth, you should feel the vibration from their digging and be able to pinpoint their location, since Minato was able to track his targets from a fair distance away. But like I said, I don't know if or how this technique is used in our RP.
Still underground from the use of the previous technique, I use the vibration from you standing on the ground to pinpoint your location, and from there I visualize the location of the dummy I am meant to so violently decapitate. I'm not known for a photographic memory, but anyone should be able to do this if they tried. I locate the dummy after some fumbling around, grab it's ankle and start to pull it into the ground. The hiding like a mole technique makes it easy for me to pull my target in, and myself out, since there is little to no resistance from the earth, since it's soft and all. As I pull the dummy down I use the motion to pull myself up, just like a counterweight in a Rube Goldberg machine. As I pull myself out of the ground, the Hiding Like a Mole technique solidifies the ground, since I am not there to make it soft enough for easy egress. This leaves the dummy's head exposed with it's body completely submerged in the earth, unable to move, from there I can torture/ extract information from my target or kill them in any manner I see fit. I take out a kunai from my back pouch and firmly draw it across the throat of the dummy, cutting cleanly through it's throat and "killing" it. With my quarry dispatched, I await further instructions.
(Doton: Ganchūsō) - Earth Release: Stone Spikes
Rank: C
Type: Attack
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 15
Damage Points: 30
Description: This technique lets the user create a few rock pillars that will protrude from the ground to skew the target. The rock pillars will even pass through obstacles to reach their target if these are less dense. The pillars/spikes can be done in any earthen surface, including other earth techniques of the user.
Quite a straight-forward and versatile technique. This technique requires no formal handseal, but a hand gesture usually accompanies it. After focusing your chakra, you're able to cause a small number of rock spikes to grow from the ground and skew a target of your choosing. These rocks can grow out of any source of earth, and pierce through weaker defenses such as basic buildings and the like, allowing for a bit of subtlety when using the jutsu. I really like this basic technique because of the number of locations I can grow the spikes out of, and if I've used other Doton techniques to box my opponent in, I can leave them with no where to run before skewering them from all angles.
(Doton: Yochi no Douyou) - Earth Release: World Shaking
Rank: C
Type: Offensive
Range: Short - Mid
Chakra cost: 15
Damage points: N/A
Description: The user will concentrate and release their chakra into the ground to create a small tremer that can result in making the enemies lose their footing and fall to ground or miss the aim of a given technique.
Another basic technique, and another one without handseals, at that. Basically, after focusing your chakra through the ground, you cause the earth to shake. Just a minor, low-magnitude, localized earthquake. It can cause your opponent to lose their footing, possibly disrupt them as they run or form a longer string of handseals, but it doesn't cause major direct damage to your enemy. It can also be easily avoided by going into the air. Basically, it's a good supplementary technique to force your opponent to miss when firing projectiles, or to set them up to more easily land an attack, but it's not good for much else.
