Kyon waits a moment, then begins his explanation.

"Between these two methods, Environmental Manipulation changes the appearance and features of the earth, while Advanced Conversions, combine 2 elements to create a separate element. With advanced conversions, you could combine water with earth to create a mud like substance. With the Environmental Manipulation, you could change the appearance of the Earth by channeling chakra into it and creating a new physical appearance. When using advanced conversion techniques, such as the creation of mud, the user must combine their water and earth chakras together to create mud. To preform environmental manipulations, the user must channel their chakra into the ground and mold the field to change. Advantages to both of these methods is the fact that using these techniques could change the way the battlefield is set up."

"Wrong..." Lee stomped on the ground and a single earthen spike sprouted up from behind you, catching the end of your shirt and hoisting you up a foot off the ground.

"Pay attention. Earth manipulation deals with affecting and manipulating the earth that already exists, like what I just did. Unlike the previous method where you create your own earth, all you're doing is manipulating the earth that already exists. By projecting your chakra you cause the earth to bend to your will.

Now advanced conversions is nothing more than an advanced method of the latter I just explained, but it's still purely earth release. There's no combination of elements being done. When you create mud, you're changing the substance of the earth into a different state all together; from solid to liquid. You can also create sand, gravel, metal (under some conditions and only to certain degrees). All such manipulation is still purely earth based. You can create mud and metal through combining elements, however to certain degrees. However we don't cover that in this training."

Doton: Koka no Jutsu) - Earth Release: Hardening Technique

Description: The user releases a burst of earth chakra from all over his body. As he does this, a multitude of rock seemingly grows from his skin, forming a large, dense armour or rock much bigger and bulkier than the users original size. The armour can be manipulated and used to create extendable weapons to strike a target with like rudimentary swords or hammers. The downside is that the user cannot mold techniques from other elements a part from earth while sustaining the armor. The armor can be manifested in only specific parts of the body if the user so chooses.

Description: The user slams his hands on the ground and lowers or raises the ground in the surrounding area at high speeds, allowing them to create giant holes in the ground or avoid attacks. The size of the affected area as well as the depths that it is lowered to is up to the user and rasing earth can be done up to 20 meters tall creating a small cliff or they can create trenches that can be as deep as 20 meters. Other than being moved below ground relative to the surrounding surface the terrain is not altered, plant life and people retaining their same positions.

"The last technique would constitute as an Environmental Manipulation technique. With that technique all you're simply moving the earth around you to create deep trenches or heightened platforms. There's no converting the earth itself into another earthen property.

Try it again and this time think of something that changes the physical structure of the earth."

Description: The user will first perform Boar → Tiger and then by changing the surface of an object beneath an enemy into mud and creating a non flammable swamp, the user can sink his enemy into the mud. The adhesive, chakra-infused mud ensnares the enemy's body, making it almost impossible to recover one's strength and escape from the swamp. The size and depth of the created swamp depends on the user's skill and the amount of chakra used, but if the user is an expert in this technique, it will always be possible to make a fair-sized swamp which is extremely effective against a great number of enemies or when having to face gigantic creatures.

"Alright then, now we're going to get into learning the techniques. These first couple of techniques are basic projectiles so they're easy to learn. Following the first method of self created doton, all these techniques will be utilizing your own doton chakra to create your own earth. No source of earth is necessary for these techniques." After he spoke Lee took in a deep breath through his nose and he began to summon a large amount of chakra which he directed up into his throat and mouth. Turning away from you he released several wide spread shots of mud. They were all thick with adhesive mud to the point they were almost solid, enough so in order to be able to cause blunt force damage and travel at a moderately speed.

"This is your first technique. You will gather your doton chakra from your core and have it travel up the centerline of your body into your mouth. You will be forming a adhesive, tightly packed sphere of mud so essentially you want just enough chakra consistency so that it's a pseudo solid. I want you to begin by shooting just one bullet...work on your accuracy on that tree in the distance (Points mid-range). After I want you to divide your chakra evenly between several globs of mud just before you release it. You will be using the principle of chakra division which states that the individual < whole. So in essence the more you divide your chakra the weaker each actual projectile is however combined they have the same amount of power as the technique as a whole. Try not to have any questions but if you must go ahead. Start with one bullet of mud and then try to shoot 5 rapid fire bullets."

Wow, that was impressive with only one breath you were able to release multiple globs at once. Let's see, I'll give it a try

Taking a deep breath using his nose, Kyon inhales as much oxygen possible without straining himself. Channeling his doton chakra from his stomach and abdomen area, builds up doton chakra into his mouth. Using shape manipulation once the chakra is in his mouth, he creates a sphere like ball within his mouth. Now that the balls is formed, he converts his doton chakra into an consistency of earth similar to an aqueous, sticky ball of mud. Turning his body facing a tree, Kyon exhales outward releasing the tree the Lee pointed out, about mid range from him. Performing the same process two other times, Kyon perfects his accuracy making sure that he hits the tree with stunning precision. This time, Kyon listens carefully to his instructor. Performing the same inhaling action as before, Kyon follows the first protocol with great precision as this would be his 4th time performing the same action. The main difference with his technique this time is that, while his doton chakra was within his mouth, he equally splits the chakra into 3 different parts. Continuing on, he manipulates the 3 equal amounts of chakra to form into mirroring images of the first large technique, only this time the globs were smaller. Aiming at the same tree in the distance, Kyon aims each of the globs at a different positions on the tree, one on the bottom, one on the top, and one right in the middle. Doing this coats the tree in a sticky mud.

"Good, that's your first technique; the Mudshot and Multiple Mudshot technique. The next technique, which in retrospect I should've taught you first will be easier. Focus your chakra into your hands this time instead of your throat. You'll create several small rocks in your hand that will rotate like a ring. From there you'll launch the rocks outward toward your opponent. In this case you can aim at the tree over there. It's not an especially strong attack but it's basic."

Channeling my doton chakra into my hands, I manipulate my chakra to form. After they Have formed, I manipulate them into rotating around my hand itself. Once they have all formed, and are all rotating around my hand. I make them shoot out like bullets toward a nearby tree

"Hm, hm, good. Next up, keeping that same mode of area, you'll concentrate your chakra into your hand once again only this time focus on creating one solitary large rock out in front of your palm. Just like in the last technique you'll send that rock flying toward the target. Once you feel comfortable with one, try creating more (3). However, what I want from you when you the latter I want you to gather more chakra for when you're creating the three. When you create all three each bolder should be equal in strength to the first one you created in terms of power.

So: Start by making one large rock and firing it at the tree over on the right.
Then: Create three large rocks, with each one having the strength of the first one you fired and fire it at the tree over to your left."

Raising his right hand, Kyon was ready to try the technique. Channeling his Doton chakra to his hand, Kyon feels the chakra building up in his palm. Once enough chakra is built up, Kyon manipulates said chakra to for a large rock the size of both his clenched fists together. Once created, Kyon forcibly releases the rock from his palm at fasts speeds toward a tree mid range from himself. As the rock makes an impact with the tree it rips through it.

Taking the first use of the technique into consideration, Kyon readies for the second more difficult technique. Raising his hand with his palm facing forward like before, Channeling his chakra into his palm, he makes a decent amount. From the last try, he only created one stone. But this time, he channels an amount of chakra 3 times the amount of last time. Creating a rock the same size as last time, Kyon launches the rock at the tree. Differing from last time, Kyon rapidly creates two other same sized rocks to be launched shortl after one another.

Hey there. So, I'll be taking over your Earth training. Just tell me which method you are on, and till where did my sensei continue?

I had just finished learning the Mudshot techniques and he said we would continue with the projectile jutsus to start with.

So, I'll be continuing in the same way as him.

You gather up your Earth chakra in your stomach and channel it to your mouth, spitting out a semi solid form of earth which you then give a shape of a giant slab of rock. You can use mental gestures to make the giant slab travel on the ground with tremendous force. It is powerful and destructive enough to cause splinters in the earth as it goes. I don't really see any uses of it, except maybe in short range to disorient your opponents or to use it to halt their movements in short range.
