If Naruto had fought Gaara when he was in his base form with his shield of sand active, he would have had no way to bypass Gaara's defense. He didn't have the penetrative power, nor the speed.

So when people say that Naruto>Sasuke at this stage of the manga because Gaara>Sasuke that is not true at all. Without Sasuke to break Gaara's ultimate defense, without Sasuke to wound and push Gaara so far into a corner that he had to rely on the mythical monster inside him, Naruto wouldn't have been able to tie with Gaara (yes, it was a tie).

To beat Gaara at this stage of the manga, both Naruto and Sasuke's unique skillsets were required. Sasuke's speed and penetrative power (Chidori) was needed to bypass his defense, something Naruto wouldn't have been able to do by himself at the time and Naruto's destructive power (shadow clone spam) and stamina was needed for the fight with Gaara when he was in Shukaku mode.

I'm sure you all knew that but I'd just thought I'd clear it up, anyway. :devil:

Initial jinchuriki naruto had the speed to bypass gaara's defense and uzumaki 2000 combo broke through shukaku gaara's sand shield let alone base gaara shield.

Neji also could have beaten base gaara, neji is faster than lee without gates and therefore faster than sasuke as well. Neji also has heavenly spin which could have deflected gaara's sand.

OP your logic is terrible why to take away shukaku form gaara its his power . Take away Sharingan from Sasuke and Gaara would rape him.

Look, I can see that you're a Madara fan so I can understand why you're a little slow to absorb what I said in my post so I'll sum it up for you:

-Only Sasuke was capable of bypassing Gaara's defense at this time in the manga thanks to his speed and penetrative power. Sasuke was the only genin (maybe with exception of Neji) who could beat base mode Gaara at the time.
-Only Naruto was capable of matching Gaara for stamina and able to take harsh punishment on the body from a number of attacks. Naruto was the only one who could compete with Shukaku mode Gaara at the time.

This is one of many subtle examples where Kishi shows what Sasuke and Naruto can achieve through cooperation. Sasuke fulfilled his role in the battle as "the eyes" and Naruto his as the body. But eh, guess you missed that.

You say that Neji>Sasuke because Kakashi said Sasuke, without his chunin main stages abilities is weaker than him. By this logic, Sasuke>Naruto because chunin prelims Naruto is no match for Sasuke.

Except I said Gaara's sand shield, not Gaara in Shukaku mode. In that mode Gaara forsakes his auto sand shield for more destructive power, with Naruto's speed at the time and his strongest move being a punch, he's not bypassing base mode gaara's auto sand or the armor of sand.

0/10 effort for a last-resort, weak argument, because you were salty that I refuted everything you said. If Naruto fought base Gaara in the same setting as Sasuke, using gamabunta wouldn't be allowed and even then the only time Naruto can summon gamabunta successfully is when he's running low to empty on his own chakra reserves (see Neji and Gaara fights for proof) and then he can freely tap into Kurama's chakra. Gaara would end it before that happened.
