The Rinnegan's Genjutsu Prowess

Prologue

The Rinnegan is said to be the final evolved form of the Sharingan, yet people deny the fact that the ability to use Genjutsu is out of this Doujutsu's reach. I say that is complete falsity, and in this thread I will prove how the Rinnegan has a Genjutsu based approach.

Genjutsu

What is Genjutsu firstly?
Genjutsu (幻術; Literally meaning "Illusionary Techniques") are techniques that are employed in the same fashion as ninjutsu, requiring chakra and hand seals. However, the primary difference between the two is that the effects of genjutsu are illusory; instead of attacking the victim's body, like taijutsu or ninjutsu, genjutsu techniques manipulate the flow of chakra in the victim's brain, thus causing a disruption in their senses.
"Genjutsu is employed through the same fashion as ninjutsu, requiring chakra and/or handseals; manipulate the flow of chakra in the victims brain, thus causing a disruption in their senses.". Look specifically at the previous sentence, why exactly? Because the Rinnegan does just that, with the aid of .

The Rinnegan's Genjutsu highly revolves around Chakra Receivers, how this works is One of the Six Paths make physical contact with their enemy (piercing them with the Chakra Receiver). The Chakra Receivers allowed Nagato to control the Six Paths, along with his many summoning's, that being said Nagato would transmit his chakra through these Chakra Receivers to control his opponents movements/senses as seen with his battle with Kakashi. Once Kakashi was struck by the Chakra Receiver Nagato was able to distort Kakashi's own chakra creating an illusionary face disrupting Kakashi's accuracy enabling him to dodge the Raikiri.

To further more support my theory, Genjutsu is that of Yin Release, creates false images, and does not physically harm the opponent:
According to the Second Mizukage, genjutsu fittingly falls under the broad category of Yin Release. This is often used to create false images or to cause pain from trauma (because the body is led to believe it is in pain); however, there are plenty of other uses depending on the situation. They are not used as often as ninjutsu because they don't physically harm the opponent.

Users that possess the Rinnegan are able to use Yin/Yang release just look at Nagato/Madara/Obito/SO6P.. They all possess Yin/Yang release. In conclusion; look at the conclusion.

Conclusion

  • The Rinnegan allow the user to transmit their own chakra due to the aid of the Chakra Receivers (if physical contact is made) allowing them to distort their enemies chakra flow affecting their senses, thus making it a Genjutsu based approach.

Addition By Rollin:
i agree as well
the rinnegan comes with all six nature types that includes genjutsu

Yeah, I guess.. but I wouldn't call that ACTUAL genjutsu. It didn't really disrupt Kakashi's chakra flow because he still had the air in his hand.

It just caught him off guard and freaked him out.

I doubt it distorts their senses. It literally directs their movements, albeit very slightly. You're too hung up on the visual devices kishi uses to portray direct control.

I agree! The genjutsu itself is not on par with EMS and MS, but I think the eyes are better. Physical contact needed is a hinderance.

Solid thread. While it may not be directly classified as Genjutsu itself, I can see how it definitely falls under that category. Nice thread.

It's a nice theory, but I disagree. The Rinnegan isn't the final evolution of the Sharingan, it is a stand a lone Dojutsu. For it to be the final evolution of the Sharingan, an Uchiha wouldn't need an external source to achieve it (Senju DNA).

Each Dojutsu has been shown to excel in one aspect of Ninja Techniques:

Byakugan: Taijutsu

Sharingan: Genjutsu, Ninjutstu(It is the only exception here)

Rinnegan: Ninjutstu

Best Genjutsu wielders in the Manga? Uchiha's. Anybody with the Rinnegan (Minus Obito who relies on his Kamui more) has shown large scale Ninjutsu techniques, whereas the Hyuuga's have been shown to be the best Taijutsu fighters in the Manga bar outside cases like pure Taijutsu fighters: Lee and Gai.

It may have no disrupted his chakra flow directly. However, an indirect disruption had been made, along with the other qualifications being met: didn't cause physical harm, saw false images, is Yin Release based etc.

Also what do you mean he still had air in his hand?

I don't really think that 'face' is part of a Genjutsu or illusion. Just a way of indicating that the foe is having their chakra system made irregular by the real Nagato, since his chakra is being sent to those rods [ ].

So you say the Rennigun is evolved from sharingan, yet sharingan doesn't require rods to put someone under genjutsu which is much better!
Just a question: What is Yin/Yang release?
The Rinnegan is no doubt Ninjutsu based. Sharingan Genjutsu based, and Byakugan Taijutsu based. However, this little bit of Genjutsu the Rinnegan possesses does not tie into the Sharingan's prowess.

Yin/Yang release:
I doubt it distorts their senses. It literally directs their movements, albeit very slightly. You're too hung up on the visual devices kishi uses to portray direct control.
I see it more as it distorted his vision; accuracy. Along with yes it did move his movements somewhat most likely.
