So Spring Workouts have just started, and I want to get my 40 time up. I'm currently running a 4.5 (believe me or not that's your choice) anyhow, I'm currently weighing in at 170 5'9 1/2. I'm actually trying to gain weight (220 by junior year, freshman now).

So how do I go about getting my 4.5 40 time to 4 flat? I know that is a HUGE reduction, but I want this, I strive for this. I want to succeed as much as I want to breathe.. Pain is temporary Success is forever. (I play Running Back by the way)

Resistance is key run a lot more walk more do cardio everyday and you will be good....I don't do 4 flat but I gotta friend that does!!!

I constantly perform resistant based drills (someone pulls on the rope, and I run; Tire pulling etc.) I'm thinking about getting a weighted vest. I heard those make you quite fast.

parachutes... i use those to train. Feel like a pro.
But the weighted vest idea works. Depending on the kind of training you want to do with it

Weighted vest I've tried never tried parachutes!!! Some heavy ass leg weights too!!! But they say those could mess up your ankles!!!

I forgot about parachutes.. I'm a noob. With the weighted vest I just want to do intensive cardio (sprints) as I need the burst to get through the holes.

If you have money to spend then I suggest you purchasing a "weighted vest" that's like 60 pounds. Put that on you while you run.

I repeat do NOT buy ankle weights to do this training...you will mess up your ankles unless you're just doing pull-ups.

well i also am doing workouts for football but what my coaches tell us for 40yd when u break set position you gotta start with your head down and staying low when you start then you pick your body up and get big chested and move your feet breathing in and out and when you get to the time recorder at the 40 yd mark dont stop running and imagine the timmekeeper person isnt there and keep u breathing try laying flat on your back and breathing in through your nose out through your mouth and then try it in a steamy room
lighter wieght shoes wouldnt hurt either
(my spelling i kno)

Do intense weight workouts (not to hard that you'll die) and run/walk with ankle weights & wrist weights for a whole week.

You will feel the difference, you'll feel like a feather ;)

Weighted vests work wondrously. I play soccer, either as a forward or a mid. Keep at it.

running with weighted vests and ankles weights are bad for your joints. the most you can do with those are things like squats and hiking without damaging your body.

However parachutes only use air to push against you so basically no harm. Best method if you ask me because it doesnt strain your joints. And still increase your speed.

Sounds good. I might try them all. I mean you only live once right? (YOLO lol..) But seriously, taking risk is what is needed to progress to the next level.

Also, to give yourself more energy/stamina, and for your training to go better you should go to your local GNC and ask about "creatine." It's completely legit.

false. you live everyday. you only die once. unless youre jesus or a zombie Lol.

But yeah try long distance sprinting with the parachutes as well as short bursts. One helps the acceleration while the other helps endurance.
