Falsity

Samehada, Kisame's massive chakra eating weapon was said to eat or absorb, however you wish to interpret the meaning any kind of chakra. I think this is a false accusation determined by the majority who haven't really taken into account the whole "Samehada taste chakra" implication. Samehada has been shown on multiple occasions to eat any kind of chakra with zero difficulty EXCEPT Katon, to be exact Itachi's C-Rank Katon. Why exactly does Samehada struggle to absorb such a low ranking fire technique? Could it be that Samehada presents a Wind nature, making it weak against Katon? Or is it simply because it doesn't "like the taste of fire"? Here's what I believe..

  • Samehada may possess the nature affinity of Wind. The idea isn't to far out there, as one of the seven swordsman wields a lightning based sword correct?
  • Further more supporting the above idea, this would mean Katon>Fuuton; thus Samehada would naturally be at a disadvantage against Fire based technique..
  • Samehada doesn't like the taste of Fire (presents to be bad for Samehada); to much of a bad thing can kill you right?

With the previous ideas being voiced, I want to also bring up the fact that later on in the same chapter, Killer Bee forcefully stopped another one of Itachi's Katon based technique, but this wasn't with Samehada, Killer Bee used his one hand to block out the flames further more yelling "Hot, Hot, Hot." due to his actions. I want to ask everyone this: Why exactly would you risk a hand injury, when he could simply use Samehada to absorb the flame? With that being provided this concludes my opinion.. Samehada is weak against Katon.

Conclusion

  • Samehada is weak against Katon based jutsu
  • Samehada may present to be a Fuuton based weapon

Interesting and original theory. I'm pretty sure Samehada eats chakra and Fire is just hot, but you make sense.

I mean it would make sense correct? The sword Kiba channels Lightning chakra, so wouldn't a Wind based technique insulate it?

Madara's Meteorite>All haha.

Wind makes fire stronger. As the wind fuels the flame.

Thanks Rikerslade. I mean it's 50/50 right now we'll never know in the end.

Itachi's chakra has nothing to do with it. Katon in general would affect Samehada.

if this is the case why does it not appear to prefer wind chakra jutsu

Weak against katon yes, futon no it doesn't display any air attacks. Your skin is weak agains fire are the people of nv wind monsters? My point is you don't have to be wind natured to be hurt by katon. Was samehada actually hurt I don't remember or was it indicating it didn't like the flavor something about it being too spicy? If it had been futon based it wouldn't have blocked the attack and would have strengthened it.

I wouldn't have thought weapons in general would have had elemental affinities. Until I looked at the seven swordsman wielder who had Kiba the Lightning based weapon.. This got me thinking you know? Each sword has an unusual characteristic.

Nice theory man

Thanks bud.
