"sigh" i'm seriously bored in dealing with clueless imbeciles

It states here that DB is the Flagship of Shounen Manga

You know absolutely nothing about DB as it's the only Anime/Manga to achieve Legendary status so deal with it!
The Legendary franchise is in a league of it's own kid.

Naruto and other Anime/Manga wouldn't even of existed if it wasn't for DB, and every single Anime has flaws but DB is the greatest Anime/Manga of all time.
I'm reporting your alter

Cruchyroll isnt a source for anything except cheap rips that they expect you to pay for. They dont even really support the industry directly.

There is no legendary franchise. Naruto and isnt the only manga/ anime, DBZ did not make the Shounen genre. Its is not the greatest, it was fun to watch when i was a kid, but growing up and seeing different anime, i see how generic it is and how bland it really is.

Like a said its a classic but just because its a classic doesnt mean its the best ever.

You don't understand. DBZ has achieved the feats that makes it the only franchise to achieve Legendary status!
DBZ is the only Legendary franchise so deal with it! Just google it!

DBZ is the God/Father of all Anime and every other Anime fan including you should know this already. It's your opinion if you don't think DBZ isn't the greatest so i don't know why your getting upset when people state it's the greatest Anime/Manga of all time?

You you take it that DBZ is the greatest?

It's a fact that DBZ is overrated. Astro Boy is the father of anime. Legendaries sell good which makes One Piece better than DBZ by your logic

DBZ is not overrated. It rightfully deserves to be the number 1 Anime/Manga because of the feats the franchise has achieved in the Anime world. Most importantly, DBZ is an amazing Anime. The franchise gives you a feeling like no other Anime.

So just because DB took influence from Astro Boy your stating that it's the Father of Anime? lol your even more predictable than i thought.

DBZ is the God/Father of Anime so stop denying the truth. One Piece only beat DB in Manga sales, That's about it.

Your take on DBZ is entirely subjective just as mine. Therefore popularity is one thing we can look at because if it appeals to so many people then obviously it has substance to it. And as for suspense, that's *my* take on things. I found goku's survival in namek interesting, akira was actually going to end the manga there but was persuaded the fans to carry on. The cell arc was also interesting. Did you anticipate Vegeta turning good? Picollo's sacrifice? Vageta's atonement? Cell surviving after goku's sacrifice? Well I sure didn't and perhaps so did many who read the manga at the time. As for action, dbz totally rocked in that field more so than anything I have come across. Power ups were totally justified in diagonally manga. Goku trained tediously hard and often was over powered in many battles. He didn't always win, he lost to tien in DB, cell in DBZ etc.

Those are not suspense. Those are some character twists. Suspense is when you are left hanging what would happen next in the story. In DBZ - that never existed. It was always either a 'Save the World' scenario or 'Tournament Battle' scenario. That's all the plot DBZ had.

Goku's survival in Namek was a great watch; thanks to its ending and the Saiyan transformation. But even if it was good, it wasn't suspenseful. One knew Dragon Ball's reviving powers and knew that like Goku was killed once by Raditz, a plot-twist can be done to bring him back to life. The Saiyan transformation could have been a big surprise but it had no suspense. It was something hyped for whole Arc; that we knew it would happen at some point. Vegeta turning good, Piccolo sacrifice, Vegeta's atonement, Goku's death ect... all were very done. Some were highly emotional too. Goku's First Saiyan Transformation and Gohan's Father-Son Kamehameha would even rank among most impactful/popular moments in Anime history. Not the best but they surely linger in all Anime fans mind til date. But they weren't suspenseful, neither were they without plotholes.

There are things in DBZ that could have make it a little more suspenseful as per storyline...A villain in DBZ always wants to destroy the world - How about certain villains have ulterior motives? First, they would have been better developed characters, the story would have had some intrigue and all Arcs won't have ressemble each other so much...Heroes get revived after deaths, another fighter always come to help another one like a Street Fighter game when one is KO. Powerups that keep evolving on and on... There's always that one fighter that would be the hope for humanity cause good must always prevail...

Simply put, DBZ is one of the most cliched story in Anime shounen types. It wasn't that it was a first of its genre either. Its just that it received a cult status somehow. While older animes and mainly newer shounens didn't...

DBZ is good for its memories - a good old action-pumped anime full of those shounen-elements that connected big time, in its time period. But a best anime can't be judged on neither nostalgia, nor entertainment and certainly not popularity.

Now, if you still think that DBZ's plot, story, character depth, character development, suspense factor ect... are all high-class and top-notch. Then first, you need to watch more animes and secondly, you need to learn the differentiation between amateurish and exceptional. Nostalgia can blind you heavily and prevents you from seeing that differentiation.

It's you, the clear-cut imbecile. Respect Dragon Ball for what it has achieved. Like it for its memories. Appreciate it for its old-school shounen elements. But don't overate it.

There's no such thing as legendary status that an Anime/Manga must reach and even if there's was, well then, it's just one of them. It's a cult anime but that doesn't mean, DBZ is not in a league of its own.

Story-wise, many bettered it. Popularity-wise, many reached astronomical heights too. Sales-wise, One Piece also topped it.

DB paved the road. Naruto smoothed out the asphalt though. It's mostly this, DBZ can be loved because of what it brought. It was the ladder that helped anime cross worldwide boundaries but it was the Top 3 and lots of newer anime/mangas that climbed that ladder and enhanced its infleunce. Perhaps, I agree that Naruto and other anime/manga wouldn't have been as popular if DBZ wasn't there.

Still, that doesn't take the fact that Naruto and other anime/manga achieved what they did with their own story, merit and everything. It's like how I can say that's it's a father who created his child and perhaps inspired him in someway. But that doesn't mean that the child can't be better than father in the future. And that's exactly the case - many anime/mangas have go way beyond DBZ in terms of plot, animation, storyline, character development and all other fields; even in sales and popularity!

Thereby, DBZ is not the best anime. If I were to judge something by popularity only, it would make no sense. Imagine that I did a Best Movies list in terms of pure fandom only, then Twilight would make the Top 10 probably. I repeat again, a best anime can't be judged on neither nostalgia, nor entertainment and certainly not popularity. Don't let any of these elements blind you.

Just because One Piece has surpassed DB in Manga sales don't mean it's better.

DBZ>One Piece

Deal with it

I agree, surpassing in sales only doesn't make one better. Just like being immensely popular like DBZ doesn't make an anime better.

Oh btw,

OP sales > DBZ
OP story > DBZ
OP creativity > DBZ
OP scenario > DBZ
OP character-depth > DBZ
OP suspense quotient > DBZ
OP comedy quotient > DBZ
OP emotional quotient > DBZ
OP music > DBZ
OP J-seiyuu > DBZ

And on and on....so yeah, sorry but overall, One Piece is simply better than DBZ and oh yeah, One Piece is not the only one in that case. Many others are also better than DBZ if we consider above factors.

DBZ is the only Legendary franchise so deal with it! Just google it!

I can Google a stupid thing Sword Art Online is the most legendary anime and Google will still agree with me. What's your point?

I'm just stating facts. It's as simple as that.

You should perhaps use logic instead of facts. How about you elaborate what makes DBZ storyline so much better than all manga/animes stories? And don't say because it's the Father/God of anime or whatever. That line of yours is expired.

Your telling me to respect DBZ when i'm informing you guys what the franchise had accomplished in the Anime world and your disagreeing? Your the one that needs to respect DBZ and know what feats DBZ has achieved.

Wrong. There is such thing as Legendary status and DBZ has achieved this, that feat alone puts DBZ in a different league compared to every other Anime/Manga

DBZ new Movie is the only Anime Movie to be in the IMAX and it''s the top-non US film overseas. Still going to other countries yet.

Every Anime has flaws and DBZ storyline wasn't the best but the franchise overall made up for that flaw by giving the audience a feeling like no other Anime. For example: DBZ is like Avatar, the movie as gives you a feeling like no other and blows your mind but the storyline wasn't that good. What would you prefer Avatar, a movie that gives you a feeling like no other movie and blows your mind or would you prefer a movie that has a very good storyline? Virtually most people would prefer Avatar. DBZ is the most well known than any other Anime, the franchise gets shown in mostly every country. One Piece has surpassed DB in Manga sales so it is more popular than DB in Japan but world wide, DBZ wins.

DB revolutionised the Anime world to new heights. It was the Flagship of Shounen Manga during it's Golden Era and many Anime that you watch today including Naruto wouldn't even of existed if it wasn't for DB. It's true that many Anime/Manga has gone above DBZ in terms of plot, animation, storyline, character development but i can't see the child surpassing the father for a very long time or perhaps forever. DBZ has achieved feats that other Anime's won't achieve forever! You need to understand this! This is why the child won't surpass the Father in the future because DBZ footprint in the Anime world will stay forever. DB came out in 1985 and it's still going strong today!!! Name me another Anime/Manga that will ever accomplish this? It's very unlikely that another Anime will the success that DBZ has achieved. The level of magnitude is just to high for DBZ to be surpassed because of Anime/Manga and it's impact.

I'm not judging DBZ on just popularity. I'm judging the Anime/Manga and the feats that DBZ has accomplished.
By judging that DBZ is the greatest Anime of all time and it will not be surpassed by any other Anime/Manga. End of Story.
Your just blinded by truth and facts that DBZ is the greatest Anime/Manga of all time but it's just not your cup of tea.

Reception and impact
The impact of Dragon Ball Z is enormous. For more than 20 years, the series has stood the test of time and has reached out to many children and adults alike across the globe. This is mainly due to the series' very clear representations of good overpowering evil, love overpowering hate, the importance of family and friends, and an unyielding passion toward achieving goals. The series also featured heavy sci-fi overtones, and a greater emphasis on fighting - making it extremely popular among adolescent boys who had grown up alongside the original series.
Dragon Ball Z has also played a large part in contributing to the popularity of anime in western culture. Though the first two seasons of the series were played on various networks in the U.S. in 1996, it would not take off for two more years until August 31, 1998, when Cartoon Network featured the show in its action-oriented Toonami lineup. Toonami heralded the show as "The Greatest Action Cartoon Ever Made," and it greatly boosted the popularity of Toonami, but unknowingly did so much more. Dragon Ball Z's newfound popularity helped to bring about a greater interest in Japanese cartoons in the eyes of western youth, which in turn fueled the western anime industry to new heights. Because of its success on Toonami, Dragon Ball Z was the first anime that made its way to the Wall Street Journal, who declared it "A Huge Cartoon Hit."

Many items such as apparel, backpacks, lunch boxes, writing utensils, candies, drinks, foods and more feature Dragon Ball Z, in both Japan and North America. Action figures, collectible figurines, plush toys, bobble heads, and character model kits were also made. The fast food chain Burger King featured Dragon Ball Z toys twice in the early 2000's. Despite the TV series officially ending in Japan in 1996, and in 2003 in North America, Dragon Ball Z video games are created nearly every year for almost every console on the market, helping to introduce the Dragon Ball Z series to younger generations that never got a chance to see it air on television. These games usually do very well in the market. Popular sites such as YouTube have attracted large Dragon Ball Z fan communities over the course of the last few years, and Dragon Ball related videos receive many views. All of these examples showcase the incredible popularity of Dragon Ball Z in many countries of the world.

Naruto wouldn't of existed if it wasn't for DBZ, read this:

Akira Toriyama's most famous creation, Dragonball became an anime and for Kishimoto this spawned a whole new interest in Manga and Shonen Jump. Near the end of Elementary school, Masashi Kishimoto was strictly a Dragonball fan, he recalls how he was so obsessed with Akira Toriyama, "He was like a god to me, I was constantly drawing characters that appear in Dragonball." At this stage in his life Kishimoto did not recieve an allowance to buy the 190 Yen Jumps, and would have to rely on a friend to show him jump to get his Dragonball fix. It was at this stage in his life that Masashi Kishimoto made a decision that he is not regretting now, and many of his fans are thankful for. He started to think to himself that "Manga sure is great" and that he wanted to become a famous Mangaka like Akira Toriyama. Kishimoto created his first manga around this time entitled "Hiatari-kun", a story revolving around a "Shadow ninja boy".

Still in elementary school, Kishimoto was still obsessed with Akira Toriyama and would spend all of his extra time making his drawings look exactly like his idols. It was then that he saw a game that Akira Toriyama helped develop called "Dragon Quest". The drawings were amazing, but unfortunately for Masashi Kishimoto he did not own a Famicon (Nintendo), which every other kid in his class seemed to own. He certainly could not ask his parents for something of this nature, everytime his father heard the word "Video Game" he would tell Kishimoto to go study. It was then that his twin brother devised a plan to get a Famicon from someone else, but could someone willing to give away something worth 10,000 Yen possibly exist, he did and Masashi Kishimoto began to view this friend as a god.
After he learned of "Akira", Masashi Kishimoto's drawings changed in a big way. He spent hours studying and trying to understand.
Today everything has worked out for Masashi Kishimoto, his dreams of becoming a famous Jump mangaka have come true, his story about that shadow ninja boy, Naruto has become one of the best selling and most popular mangas worldwide. He has certainly shown that he can draw with the best of them, and despite all the adversities, he has succeeded. Masashi Kishimoto is a true inspiration, a true role model, and will go down in history as one of the best and this would have not happened if it wasn't for Akira.

I agree, surpassing in sales only doesn't make one better. Just like being immensely popular like DBZ doesn't make an anime better.

Oh btw,

OP character-depth > DBZ

OP comedy quotient > DBZ
OP emotional quotient > DBZ

OP J-seiyuu > DBZ

And on and on....so yeah, sorry but overall, One Piece is simply better than DBZ and oh yeah, One Piece is not the only one in that case. Many others are also better than DBZ if we consider above factors.

I can Google a stupid thing Sword Art Online is the most legendary anime and Google will still agree with me. What's your point?

You should perhaps use logic instead of facts. How about you elaborate what makes DBZ storyline so much better than all manga/animes stories? And don't say because it's the Father/God of anime or whatever. That line of yours is expired.

DBZ beats One Pieve overall and every other Anime/Manga

You were being biased DBZ beats One Piece on most points. You just posted bullish!t It's a FACT that DBZ is the only Anime/Manga to achieve Legendary status! Understand or GTFO

DBZ hasn't got the best storyline and that don't make an Anime the best because of the plot. DBZ gives you something special than the rest.

Fist of the north star aired in 1984

Gundam aired in 1979

Astro boy aired in 1963

Your point is? The time gap is not huge?

DBZ is most definitely not the only anime to hit imax and be played in almost every country, its also not a top seller either.

Pokemon, which is also a SHOUNEN has also had a very huge in pact having a large market, that does not mean its legendary, that does not mean its the god father of all anime that feature protags controlling monsters.

No ones saying that it didnt inspire people, however it did not build an entire genre on its own, and its not the only POPULAR Anime out there. There are a bunch of anime with a HUGE marketing, GUNDAM, POKEMON, DIGIMON, almost any kids anime has a huge market because most of there funds come from toy sells anyway.

Just because an anime inspires someone to do something doesnt make it the best every or else almost every anime ever is the best anime, because all people really do is take what worked, put their own twist on it and call it theres, just like DBZ did just like any other anime does.

Also nice copy & paste, Kishi isnt the only mangaka out there and just because he got inspired by DBZ doesnt mean everyone else did too.

It means that Dragonball wasnt the first or only anime to do what it it did. IT did not as you put it create its own genre.

Wrong. DBZ Battle of Gods is the first Anime Movie to hit IMAX

You don't understand yet again. DBZ has achieved feats that makes it the Father/God of Anime and a Legendary franchise.
I'm not saying it's the best because it inspired the most, at the end of the day it comes down to the Anime and Manga and DBZ the illustrious and Legendary franchise reigns supreme over the rest of Anime/Manga

The Anime that you mentioned that came out before DB didn't revolutionise the Anime world, DB did!

Okay let me rephrase, DBZ isnt the only anime movie to go to a Major Theater.

And what feats did it achieve? Appealing to people that like battle shounen and homolust? What your saying is that DBZ is the best anime in ever genre ever and has somehow made an impression on every anime ever which isnt true.

You're also saying that DBZ is what made anime popular, which isnt true.

I have no idea what your trying to say in bold. Are saying that DBZ has the best drawings because thats also wrong. By your logic one piece is the savior of all anime which it isnt. As One piece has broken popularity and sells records.

Also the anime i mentioned did change anime, Most shounen of all catagories took elements form fist of the north star(DBZ is one of those anime) Gundam got pure mecha shounen more popularity, although it wasnt the first to do it, it was one of the first to do it on such a large and long lasting scale. Astro boy set the stage for things like megaman and other mecha as well.

Has them Anime Movies hit IMAX? Nope, do you know why? Because there no were near as enormous as DBZ is!
DBZ has achieved outstanding feats that won't be repeated by any other Anime/Manga, this is another reason why DBZ is in a league of it's own besides Legendary status.

DBZ influenced virtually many Anime and the illustrious franchise did make Anime popular, as it elevated the Anime world to new heights. You don't understand the bold because you can't accept the truth and facts. Also the Anime you mentioned maybe did change Anime but did they change Anime to the scale and magnitude of DB? Nope, no way in hell!

Wow.........i never knew beating Escorpiius, one of the best NB members would be a piece of cake!!!
This is even easier than i thought lol :bouncy:

IMAX isn't even a top movie theater, they just show a bunch of documentaries and indie films and a handful of blockbusters most of which are from Disney l
You're just repeating the same thing, what has Dbz change, what did it bring to anime that wasn't there. You haven't named one thing.there are tons of anime out there better than Dbz and tons of anime that had a bigger impact than Dbz. Fist of the North Star influenced most if not all battle and gore shounen and still gets referenced in anime Dbz doesn't.

Name me 5 things that Dbz brought to anime that hadn't been done before.

Of course IMAX is a top movie theatre, are you mad? You really need to google DBZ because you don't even know what the franchise has accomplished in DBZ. It's very sad indeed because every Anime fan should know the impact of what the franchise did to the Anime world. I'm not even going to state 5 things because you should already know! You should not even be an Anime fan, seriously.

DBZ has the biggest impact than any other Anime and still get's into games like Ninja Storm and Anime like Naruto and so on. You know how popular Naruto is.

Since you saw only the first 50 episodes of One Piece, I'm only going to use the first 50 episodes to prove you wrong.

I guess eating your own leg to survive is for kids huh. Well the manga shows Red Leg Zeff cutting off his own leg and using it to survive. Totally for kids.

How about the fact Nami was a slave to fishmen for many years because they feel they are the superior race. Racism. A topic totally for kids. In fact, the enslaved villages and if a single person didn't pay, they would kill everyone in that village.

How about the fact Nami and her sister watched their own mom being shot right in front of them. You know, cause every kid that watches Spongebob or Adventure Time sees that on T.V. every day.

OH and this one too.

I think that should speak for itself.

Only 50 episodes huh. Congrats on only watching 8% of the entire anime. You must know a lot.

You know why they never made it to the big screen. That is because anime wasn't very popular outside of Japan during that time. Astro boy was so old, they never even thought of making movies for anime back then. It still doesn't change the fact that they are what influenced DBZ. Without Fist of the North Star and Astro Boy, DBZ wouldn't have even existed. Show some respect to the true fathers of anime.

Oh and Spirited Away is the highest grossing animated film, not DBZ. In fact, it barely makes the top 20. One Piece Strong world is 16th and One Piece film Z is 9th world wide. Oh, and the highest grossing movie with an anime series is Pokemon The First Movie, coming in at 4th.

Wrong. DB was influenced by the Drunken Master, the franchise was to big of a phenomenon to have not existed if it wasn't for those Anime. DBZ is the true God/Father of Anime so stop denying it.

DBZ Battle of Gods is hitting 3 billion yen in box office revenue and the Movie is still making it's way to other countries like Peru, Paraguay, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, and Chile!

You need to show respect to DBZ of what it's rightfully accomplished in the Anime world.

usually i keep my hands away about this DBZ IS THE BEST BS, but damn this ****tard is going overboard,
you say DB beat OP overall sales huh ? ok i know that but I don't trust worldwide statistics. I have yet to see where the 350 million DBZ total sales statistics comes from. It reeks of lies. US manga sales barely even touch 10,000, so where would the extra... ?

news flash for you One Piece is more than legendary already, some tourist said not liking One Piece in Japan is like not liking Food in US, don't make me mention OP 2 new Movies Strong World and Film Z each one them sell more than that BS called Battle of Gods

what ? super asspull power up ? they can only pleased 10 years old brat with that, are you one of them ?

Awwwwww.........your getting hurt and upset. You just can't take it when people state DBZ is the greatest Anime/Manga of all time

One Piece is not Legendary at all so i don't know what dream world your living in kid. DBZ is the only Anime/Manga to achieve Legendary status so shut up and accept the truth, it's not difficult.

DBZ Battle of Gods wipes the floor with them garbage movies.

Look who's the OPtard now lol

IMAX isn't a movie theater it's a type of screen available to any movie theater willing to pay for installation. Regal Cinemas have Imax screens as do AMC theaters. This should clear the confusion

Shut up!!!

DBZ > Naruto. Wouldn't even think of considering OP, it's not very appealing to me.
