Yes, I see what you mean. It is praiseworthy in a way. Yet for me how and why Naruto praised him as well as how quickly he did it after finding out about him was not human for me. Maybe I'm asking too much from a kiddie manga, but I always admire a piece of work that aims for a realistic reflection of human nature even if its theme is idealistic.

Time for my shameless Neon Genesis Evangelion plug. Most realistic characters you'll see in an anime (yet not realistic at the same time). But there's also a good chance that it will piss you off and/or **** with your head. It's worth the risk. :)

Duuuude, I've seen all of NGE and its movies. Excellent psychological trip.

To forgive means to stop having feelings of anger and resentful towards an offense. To Naruto Obito is nothing but awesome to him. Sounds like he was forgiven.

And shinobi only kill to protect their village or in times of war. You're using a false equivalency to suggest that what ninja do to protect their village or in war time is the same as world class criminals.

The only times shinobi get told to assassinate someone is when that person is a rogue ninja or if them being alive will result in turmoil.
You're lying through your teeth. Ninja do whatever they are paid to do. You're completely ignoring the shinobi system that was established in the manga. If a client pays them to kill someone, then they do it regardless of whether it is right or wrong to kill that person, as long as the client pays. They are assassins, they not even remotely like the police force. Also what about things like Hinata's kidnapping? What about the oppression of the Uchiha clan? What about the bloody mist graduation exam? What about the Kazekage sending assassins after his son after driving him crazy in the first place? What about Suna betraying Pakura to the mist? Can't believe you, acting like Shinobi are only active during war when they do these horrible killings and deceitful things on a regular basis. I won't even mention Konoha's R.O.O.T organisation. And even if what you said was true, which it isn't, what about using Ame as a battleground in their wars when Ame had nothing to do with it? How many innocent people were killed for their wars? And what did they do to make amends for that? Nothing!

First off, calling me a liar only makes me more likely to ignore you.Second of course shinobi kill...that's what they freaking DO!Don't get hostile and holier than thou on me just because I question your logic.

What is your point here? That because shinobi kill they don't have the right to judge criminals? Please refer back to my police analogy for why that is bunk.

You do understand the theme isn't forgiveness
Is just about saving and protecting your comrades and basically what's precious to
Naruto is really the only who has done the forgiving all of the others were using those people for the moment kind I like the latest episode with shikamaru and the rest of the rookies they simply accepted these people in order for help they joined forces to defeat a common enemy
Also I would think another theme for naruto is to always be yourselfand don't let yourself fall into the darkness
Same with never going back on your word and actions.
It's not saying in the hidden leaf they are all comrades and some criminals are just precious to other like orochimaru to hiruzen
You also have to take into the picture that a lot of those are Uchihas
Now considering they know the legend now it's actually clear it wasn't madaras fault nor obitos nor sasukes
They were all consumed by the curse of hatred
Naruto is the only one who really takes the forgiving to far the other people just follow naruto because he earned their respect and they are letting him take the lead
Red if you want

Now if you want to look at it through a forgiveness way it could because they are showing it through naruto himself
Shinobi everyone now knows naruto has the power to change people and also a lot of the people have their reasons
Gaara
Sasuke
Itachi
Nagato
Madara
Obito

Gaara was treated like shit and lived horrible in sure a lot of us would actually be like if we never slept and our father tried to kill us numerous times and gaara follows naruto's ideals now forgiving his father for what he did
It's basically saying ANYONE can change their ways
Naruto has the power I change and save people they basically treat him like Jesus

It's not necessarily the theme of the manga that goes too far. It's mainly just Naruto's idiotic mindset that goes too far. Not everyone will forgive their enemy that caused them pain their whole life. Even calling them "awesome" and praising them while at the same time overriding all the actions done before makes you look completely stupid and senseless.

Kakashi forgiving Obito is understandable. They were teammates, but Obito never killed Kakashi's parents.

Sasuke forgiving Itachi is understandable. There was only one way out and it was to stop a war from occurring. Itachi was also trying to protect Sasuke. It's not like he was Obito and did it on purpose. Itachi's actions were all for a legitimate reason.

Hinata forgiving Neji is understandable. Neji was lost in the darkness of his clan but now he is trying to help or was trying to help Hinata before he died. Hhe even told Naruto to protect her. Neji also didn't kill her parents or anyone close to her.

Naruto forgiving Nagato was not understandable, but if he didn't forgive him then his village mates would still be dead, but unlikw with Obito he didn't cry over him nor did he praise him after killing and destroying his village.

Naruto forgiving Obito reaches the peek of pure idiocy. Obito's actions and what he has done throughout his life doesn't even come close to any body else in the NV when it comes to Naruto's enemies. Most of the shit that he did was not even needed. He just did it for the fun of it.

Actually, Naruto didn't forgive Nagato.

In the end, Obito was able to understand his crimes and atone for his sins. However, he was only able to do this because Naruto/Kakashi were helping him. If they had decided that Obito could not be forgiven, they would be dead right now.

Are the people he killed still dead? Then he didn't atone.

I think the point is that they gave him the chance to prove that he had changed rather than ostracizing him.

Do the courts in real life do something like this? No.

Btw, if they had killed Obito Madara would have not gonna revived.

I wonder if BZ can make a corpse use jutsu? If so it wouldn't have changed anything if Obito died.

Yeah because our court system is really the pinnacle of justice...

They didn't kill him because they knew he could be saved.

The boundaries between life and death in Naruto are very slim, in real life, we rely on faith/belief systems for the hope of an afterlife, while in NV, they have empirical evidence of life after death, hence there is no cessation of existence in NV and death is merely a transition to another plane of existence, while in real life we have no absolute proof that life continues after biological expiration, hence the concept of absolute cessation of being, therefore in NV it is easier in the conscience of the forgiver to forgive, just like how Luke Skywalker easily forgave Darth Vader for killing Obi-Wan since in the SW universe: "There is no death, there is the Force"

To be fair Anakin Skywalker was always destined to join the Dark Side,he didn't have a choice in the matter unlike many villains in Naruto.Him killing the Emperor and as a result saving his son Luke was what allowed the good side of Anakin to be brought back from the darkness.
