It's said that Mokuton converts the user's chakra into a source of life, causing the trees to form so I don't know how it would play out. Anyone can answer?
Edit: I added a poll so go ahead and vote people!

No it doesn't work for the reason you stated. Saying Preta can absorb Mokuton is like saying Preta can absorb a real tree.

I believe it can. It would absorb the chakra out of the wood, making it just a tree and no longer a plant being controlled.

-Just like how Madara was attacked by Gaara's sand. The sand stayed as sand but was no longer manipulated by Gaara b/c there is no chakra in it.
--Without chakra it can't be controlled, this goes for wood release as well

Doubt it. I know people like to say its possible in matchups though. It would pretty funny if Preta could pull it off. With something like a fireball jutsu it might work like it did samehada but I still kinda doubt it.

Well that's a simple way to put it. Thanks

What is Preta path going to do ? Suck the wood !?
 the wood jokes never get old

where did nagato come from?[/QUOTE
Exactly, this by no means is a versus thread though I do agree with that statement.

Can the preta path absorb fire style? water style? earth style? wind style? lightning style?
A little off-topic... The reason why I asked is because of the conversion of chakra to life energy. Wood style is different from lightning, fire, etc because it involves what is considered a living thing.

So you're saying that Preta Path would be used to prevent Hashi from controlling the trees. That's an interesting point..

Yes it can as long as the wood isn't made from the users body itself (out of their cells).

Well I know fireball would work since it's strictly chakra based. Samehada eats the chakra of what it touches, it shaves off chakra basically. Preta sucks up chakra based attacks but it's hard to say if Mokuton is what would be considered strictly a chakra based attack.

What do you think would happen to the trees after they would be affected by Preta Path? Do the trees just die, or stop moving, or what? That's part of what confuses me about the whole deal.
It's possible we would find out. Depends on how Sasuke feels after his talk, he might let Hashi fight Madara and maybe it'll come up then :)

It would absorb the chakra out of the tree, but the tree would still be hitting him with enough force to kill or extremely injure him.

Doubt it. That's like saying it'd absorb the houses Yamato built.

Remember chakra created things can be absorbed not just drained, Jiraiya's boiling oil wave was absorbed and not just the chakra in it but physically gone afterwards. So it should be possible for him to absorb the wood while he is still growing and adding chakra to it but afterwards it'll just be a tree so unable to be absorbed.
