First, Itachi has access to his Sharingan right?

If it's Sharingan Itachi vs Gai without the gates... Itachi could very well win against Gai. Itachi's Taijutsu and speed if extremely good/fast, add the fact that he has the Sharingan he will be able to read and react perfectly to Gai's taijutsu.


But once Gai uses the gates... Itachi will fall behind obviously... at which gate will Itachi be overwhelmed that i don't know... but he will loose eventually without a doubt.


Base Gai is good but Kakashi is on par with him, Kisame kept up with him, it's only when Gates are included that shit will hit the fan.

Sharingan Itachi >= Base Gai
Sharingan Itachi < Gates Gai

Well Gai would win. Itachi wont die as fast as some say but Itachi loses no chance of winning.

Gai would win even without gates. It would be Lee vs Sasuke all over again.

Even without gates, his greatest advantage, the sharingan, is the only thing that will keep him alive. Guy is also a lot more experience then Itachi being quite a lot older than him and has fought evenly with another sharingan user in the past, Kakashi. In the end, guy would still win even in base mode due to his experience in battle with a sharingan user.
