I wanted to make a similar thread like this, but I knew that a lot of flaming would be done so I didn't bother =/
In my opinion, I believe that God is in fact, REAL, because I don't think we can go through this life of sin and I truly believe that God helps us through everyday of our life.
Imagine a Harley Davidson Motorcycle, for those motor-freaks out there, you'd find it rather pleasing to gaze upon it's metal work, it's smooth, colorful paint and as well as his complex engines. Obviously someone went through hard work making this motorcycle, you'd agree with me that something as complicated as making as a motorcycle should be done by a professional motorcycle mechanic, correct?
Now imagine one of the Pyramids of Giza, notice it's grandeur in both shape and height. It was built by blocks heavier than five elephants put together. And it took a long time for it to be made. Obviously, someone made this as well.
If you look at the Sun's majestic shine, into the void of the oceans, into the great mountains of the Himalayas, obviously something as complicated as these things should have a maker as well. Creation is the best evidence that there is a God.
You can believe in God, but don't start to make a mockery out of things that already have been proven by science. You let it sound like that everything just popped up the way it looks now. Complication and creation are not proof of God, they are proof of evolution. The himalaya's once the bodem of the ocean, but it got pushed up. It's a proces that if you follow it backwards you eventually would end at the origin of our planet and then to the origin of the universe. At this point you can start to talk about God, because here science doesn't have an answer for.
Mountains, the pyramids, Harley Davidsons...are all examples of evolution.
Man first started to use simple stone tools, slightly they started to use metal tools that got comlicated over the centuries. This proces has eventually led to things like motorcycles, but it is no proof of God.
You just make a mockery out the human mind. You can believe in God, I have nothing against it, but you don't need to insult the human mind and ingenuity .
From your Attacking stance, I can only conclude that you are a person filled with anger and resentment toward people who express views about religion that you don't like. This makes me doubt whether you are truly able to debate at all.
Answering your "rebuttal" :
a) The idea that God exists to watch over you, ant farms etc, Those are your distortions about what God does or is all about.
I obviously don't see God the way that you think I do.
b) In my view, Existence in the afterlife is merely a continuation of existence on this plane, therefore our species doesn't end when this universe ends, as Science tells us that it will some day.
We will have our memories and history intact. This then will give meaning to having existed, and to all our sweat and tears, our loves and hopes. Then It doesn't all just disappear into a black hole.
c) Federal law is not a good justification by itself alone.
Federal law once made it okay to own slaves, deny voting rights to blacks and women, and to Mass Murder Native Americans. In the wrong circumstances Federal law can become the enemy of good.
Also ASCE do not limit your thinking to Canada and America. In some countries, their Federal laws prevent women from driving a car (Saudi Arabia).
I keep looking at things in an ultimate/universal context, and you keep missing the point.
My main point then is that individuals act not because of the law, but because of their own inner motivation. If laws worked, then there would be no crime. Think about it, I am safe from my neighbour not because there are laws saying he should not harm me, but because he wishes not to harm me. If he chose to harm me, the law may or may not punish him after the fact (after the deed is done).
d) Logic. Logic varies from person to person. There are Thousands of logical murderers for instance.
Also, possessing advanced minds didn't stop the Third Reich (Adolf Hitler etc) from murdering 6 million Jews, or The Stalinist purges in Russia, or the Rwandan Holocaust, etc etc.
Obviously Logic and advanced minds haven't done the job, have they? So my question still stands. If people are seen as merely biological machines, without a soul of eternal value, why give a rip. Those who commit mass murder obviously didn't think their victims had value.
e) My Having an eternal soul hasn't stopped me from catering to the present, so your statement is patently false. I took my sick mother into my house, bathed her, fed her, loved her until the day she passed on in my house.
Paradoxically too many people are thinking only of the present, which is what you appear to advocate. The end result is extreme selfishness and evil with no thought for consequences.
I think I have adequately rebutted your rebuttal. I would suggest that we make all further conversations LOGICAL and non-personal.

I've got 2 things to say:
1: 'dance puppet dance' because the way you say it, it's like we're nothing more than plants if God wouldn't exist. So we need a master who controls use, thus then we're puppets.
2: You maybe can explain all this religious and spiritual stuff with fancy words, but you don't know anything about science. That you even dare to say that science said that the universe would eventually end. That is, in your terminology, blasphemy.
About these kinds of stuff science only has theories. Why? Because they can't predict the future. Earth and the sun are doomed. Why? This is not a prediction of the future, but by studying the universe they gathered knowledge and saw patterns in the universe. The sun is going to implode eventually en will take the earth with it.
About the universe are 3 major theories: One is that it just will keep increasing, like it is doing now.
Second is that it eventually will start to expand and then it's going to shrink again, to the point where everything started=the place of the 'Big Bang', that's why this theory is called the 'big crunch'.
Third is the same as the second, only it will expand again. This raises the question if there's a cycle that has been going own long before our current universe.
Your problem apparantly is that you don't have enough knowledge about the world and it's workings. So to explain things better you start to search for God.
I'm a person who takes things from both sides. I don't believe in God, but I believe in Jesus. I believe he was a good person, but I don't believe a thing of these miracles(however changing water into wine is a nice accessory).
I don't believe in God, but I believe in the human soul.
I was raised christian(more or less, I've been baptised etc.), but I have no believe in God. I know a lot of the history of christianity and evolution. I just had exam about 230 pages of philosophy and I'm studying atm 160 pages about the human evolution. So I'm probarly one the most informed persons about this kind of subject in this forum(can't say for sure, because I don't know all of you).
Because of this, I've been hammering on my own believes and it are truly my own believes. However is that case with you? For so far as I can see you don't have great knowledge about science. Even you're knowledge about christian religions isn't what you would expect from someone who's such a believer in God. For example you said once in your previous posts that if there's no God, we have no existence bodies just rot and are food for worms. But God doesn't care about your bodies, a body is nothing more than a vessel for your soul. In fact, throughout history religious people cursed this body because it attached us to the earth and cut us of from the heavens.
To me it seems that you may think you choose your own faith, but in fact it looks more that it was pressed upon you.
I really must be bored that I just wrote all that >.<'
