Itachi instead of protecting the village and eliminating the threat decided to join him. So you're telling me that Itachi backed down because he feared Obito?

So what's to stop Obito from attacking Konoha if his allies were there protecting him? Your reasoning makes no sense. Obito was just honoring a pact. Itachi would help him if he spared Konoha for the time being.

Secondly, Obito had no reason to attack Konoha before Itachi's death anyhow since they needed to capture the jinchuriki in a numerical order. Obito believed he caught Killer Bee and initiated the attack on Konoha.

He would have done so regardless if Itachi were alive or not.

What a fail post, Itachi dropped dead via Ninja AIDS whereas Obito died saving Naruto, Kakashi, and Sasuke and decided to give death the finger and keep fighting anyway.
