Fighting on a battle field is completely different then a 1v1. In all of the chaos anyone even powerful shinobi could be hit with a unexpected kuni or jutsu of some sort.It wouldnt be the first time that a powerful shinobi was trolled by kishi xd

It never said he tamed them, just simply controlled them. Tobi was controlling them as well, but at their first chance, they tried to attack him. I get where you were going with your theory, and it's not bad, but the only one the manga specifically stated as being the first jinchuuriki was Mito Uzamaki. Most likely they were sealed in objects, similar to the sages special weapons, or that super scroll that other have stated. Anyway, don't take it personal, I just see it as highly unlikely that he had eight tailed beasts inside him, that's all.

From what I gather... Hashirama did not die of old age. Tobirama was still alive when he named Hiruzen the 3rd hokage... from what I gather... this means that Hashirama died prematurely.

With all the hype about his power it seems unlikely that he died in combat.

This theory is a good one of many ways Hashirama died!

he was a jinchuuriki. i remember it from the manga. he was nine-tails jinchuuriki atleast... they showed all the nine tails previous jinchuuriki.. and hashi was 1 of em..
