Ummm ok. I really don't think he could beat Itachi and Pain.

I know he trained his eyes to counter the genjutsu but I doubt he could counter tsukuyomi which takes a second in reality but takes a lot longer in the genjutsu. There is also Amaterasu and Susanoo.

Pain hmmmm the deva path can use shinra tensei to blow the C4 away plus the preta path could just absorb the C4 since it is chakra.

He is pretty powerful except when he runs into a ninja who can use raiton. Sadly for him there's a fair amount of ninja who can use raiton, like most of the ninja from the Hidden Cloud.

Favorite character=/=powerful character. You can like a character even if he is not the strongest. Anyway for the opinion, no i don't think he is the strongest but he is still one of them. I think Itachi, Nagato, Tobi, and Kakuzu are stronger than him, but he can beat the rest though.
