Databook is full of hyperbole?

Has Yata repelled every attack ever sent at it, as the Databook states? Yes? Has it received similar hype in the contexts of the manga (by the being who knows the entire history of shinobi, no less) Yes? Hmm. Interesting.

Necromancer:

The weapon, presumably due to it's lore (not just from the databook--the lore Zetsu spoke of in awe when Itachi initially activated it), has existed within planes of battle in the narutoverse for quite a while. Because of it's properties to alter it's contents to defend from attacks, it donned a hyperbole-ish rep of being able to "turn back any attack". However, even with this reputation and feats it has shown, the claim that with those two together it can truly defend from any attack without providing proper evidence to make this extrapolation falls under a no-limits fallacy.

Take this scenario:

I'm now the creator of some fiction. In this fiction, there's a spear. This spear breaks through every foundation on Earth and completely wipes it of everything. Let's call this "V" - the initial evidence. By humans who have witnessed it's power, it's claimed to be able to "pierce anything". We'll call this "W", the claim. However, in that same verse, another planet is introduced with better and far more advanced architecture than Earth, and it's defenses are also far better put together than Earth. With V + W, can I make the claim that the spear can as well wipe the buildings/foundation/architecture of the second planet? No, I can't. It's applying the no limits fallacy; a fallacy where just because something was stated or shown to supposedly have no limits, or, something was stated to have no limits with evidence backing up, I now say there truly are no limits despite not being able to provide proper evidence for what I am saying. Example: saying Yata mirror can tank juubidama, a full onslaught from a juubijin/30 year old naruto and sauce/kaguya/prime so6p, even a ****ing star exploding, I might have both V, which in this case is Yata's history, and W, which is Yata's lore/claim, even so, making the claim that with what was shown and just the mere statements about Yata from it's lore and extrapolating it to being able to tank such things would be fallacious here.

I would say it'd depend on Itachi's usage of Yata while trying to block the tbb.

Basically the Yata won't break, but Itachi won't be able to endure it, such as Susanoo not being able to take it.

Pretty much and he doesn't even have the stable "perfect" Susanoo.

Look, just read the descriptions of the abilities and disregard the hype. There you go.

How debates around these work

>see a statement thats obvious hyperbole
>decide whether the statement works in favour of your favorite character
>accept that statement as being above everything else
>disregard all statements that contradict the previous one

Itachi fanboys in a nutshell.

What makes yata mirror different is that it has hype in the manga as well. THATS what gives it credibility, as it was information from a reliable source (manipulator of shinobi history)

Also, that temari shit is bull, it is a metaphor used at the title of every single characters page.

And itachi vs jaraiya thing is absolutely stupid, we KNOW he was pretending to be bad and was just checking up on sasuke, and we KNOW that jaraiya sure as hell could never take on itachi especially with back up. Do you know who that backup is? Then you should know it was a bogus lie to prevent a conflict.

The Yata mirror is stated to make any and all attacks "lose their meaning." That means it essentially negates all hype, making it a tier above in terms of hype. Coupled with the fact that it is a spiritual weapon of mythological origins compared to simple jutsus and man-made tools, make the Yata mirror's hype even more exemplary.

Pretty much that.

lel Kishi can't make the Yata M feats any more clear I don't see why people like to deny manga facts. What is stated in the manga = Data book. It was never contradicted because they were only shown twice doing exactly what they are said to do. Even the phrase spirit weapon is something only Itachi is known to have.

Itachi is invincible with his susanoo up. If the data book contradicts manga facts than the manga is correct. Kishi flat out says this BZ is even the most reputable character at the time

Read my previous post. You could have a statement of something seemingly having no limits, yes, and then you can even have some feats which back the statement. But however, it's fallacious to use that statement and those feats to try to extrapolate it and claim something like "because Itachi blocked some attacks with Yata + it was stated by lore to be unbreakable = it is unbreakable and derp hurr can block several juubidama an onslaught from Kaguya or Juubijins derp can block hokage nardo and 30 yr old sauce array of attacks durr". You're essentially using the no-limits fallacy, just because something was stated to have no limits, or claiming this was even backed up with feats of it truly being what I say it is, however, without being able to provide proof of the following, I now claim because of the statement and the supposed "backing" feats from the statement that whatever (in this case yata mirror) is truly infinite and has no boundaries despite me not being able to provide complete evidence of it being able to do something like survive a multitude of juubidama, I just claim because of it's lore and the feats shown it's able to. We can even go with a example, here. Say I create a fiction, wars have always been going on. In this verse, there's some kinda special shield (similar to Yata here), and that shield tanks everything that has been thrown against it. These are the supposed feats. Because of this shield's uncanny blocking abilities, it gains a reputation for being "unbreakable". This is the claim about it/lore. With the supposed feats and the claim, however, if I introduce a planet busting attack to the series and the shield is to go against it, combing the feats and claim/lore, can I really say the shield would tank that with those two and not showing proper evidence that it would?

People are so bias towards the databook. They only believe what they want to believe and everything else is false to them.

Thank you sir. The descriptions of the abilities is where people should pay attention not the hype symbolism about a characters speed or power. People claiming Temari's a universe Buster can't tell the difference between symbolism and detailed explanation of a power. If Temari's a universe Buster then Chidori spear sings a song of death. Like really?

Titles with Symbolism (Hyperbole, and other Figurative Language) is where the hype and Bullshit is at.

The long and detailed passages is where the FACTS.

These people man SMH

>sees hyperble in databook and manga
>uses it in debates and says it's true
>deny other manga facts because they can't accept it

prime example is manga saying Jiraiya beats Itachi even with help. ppl still deny this :leaf:

im guessing that mist sword that can shatter all defenses breaks yata mirror

lol, the hyperbole takes all logic out of things, that's why you should accept the fact that it's a hyperbole and not true
how did itachi even equip the weapons on his susanoo, lol?

Itachi was obviously lying to protect Konoha ... If he actually lies Konoha, why tf would he kill arguably their best shinobi? That would contradict his character
