we use the combination of water and lightning because the lightning powers up the water like wind does to fire and also prevents the opponent to use an earth jutsu to cancel out the water jutsu.

Well he can use an earth jutsu. If you use doton no jutsu (which allows you to create small pillars and tools, etc) you can shoot yourself out of the water.
Water conducts the lightning but when it is in the water it will not be conducted by the earth in rp.

while the hound is attached to my hand they would use a wind style jutsu.

i would use the change of body stance and cancel the jutsu when i switch places then re cast it from a new location

You could block it with wind, yes. When the opponent cancels out your jutsu you should try something that fits the situation. If the opponent uses wind, then you could use an earth jutsu that strikes from beneath the opponent. But if the wind cancels out the lightning jutsu and goes on to hit you, then you should block it, go out of range or go underground before using another offensive attack.
