Getting frustrated at his blatant lack of progress, Kakuzu grows some threads from his head to give the apperance of hair being grown. The threads shape into "hair" which resembles Goku's Super Saiyan 3.

With a forceful insertion of chakra, I as I move my finger away from your forehead, manipulate a hair of yours to follow the track of my index-finger. ''This is how it feels. This is how you should focus. It should be similiar to your thread technique, but alas you've to channel the chakra to a variety of new depots if so to speak in order to produce or re-produce hair sacks.''

I sink my finger back on your forehead, and in conjunction the hair receeds along with it. I remove the finger.

After experiencing the sensation of his hair being forcefully grown through chakra, Kakuzu becomes more acquainted with the idea of growing it in the same way. The method wasn't entirely different to the way he grows/manipulates the dark threads which constitute his body but it wasn't exactly the same either. Focusing his chakra throughout the hairs on his body, he utilizes the chakra to initiate an unnatural process of rapid growth. This doesn't look nearly as cool as it sounds, his hair does indeed grow quicker but it barely exceeds the normal size he usually allows his hair to grow to.
