Whats to stop Kishi from letting Guy survive?

One last point: Oonoki had flashbacks..... and didn't die. So Guy having flaskbacks doesn't confirm it either.

The way I see it, there is a possibility that Guy will be saved but suffer irreversible damage to his body, similar to how Lee would have been if he had not gotten his surgery. I also feel that since Kakashi has admitted to suffering vision loss, I feel that after the war he will never be able to use his sharingan again and bandage it up forever.

Therefore, I think its possible that after the war Guy will no longer be able perform as a Shinobi and Kakashi will have a serious downgrade in the form of losing his Sharingan. Thoughts, comments, concerns, suggestions?

Edit: Btw I don't want anyone getting the wrong idea with this thread. I am not a Guy fanboy who's hoping his favorite character gets to live. Rather, I've compiled a list of reasons why I think its possible that Kishi will let Guy live and how he might justify it later on.

I like the idea but all the characters who you said survived had something important they still had to do so Kishi couldn't kill them off i.e Obito still had to save Naruto, Choji is K11 and Naruto is going to save everyone in the war.
Guy is willing to sacrifice himself to protect everyone until Naruto comes back. He has nothing left to do after that.
So Guy will most likely die but your idea could also happen
We will just have to wait and see

Sounds about right. I think Kishi will find a way to bring back most of, if not everyone, who died in the war. It's his thing. Good people never die and such. Many characters have used the "surefire-death-causing" techniques and survived. And even those who have died got revived.

I do think that many strong characters who are currently in the war will suffer injuries and disabilities that will cause them to be less capable as shinobi in the future. This will most likely serve as a plot device to eliminate many powerful characters as Hokage candidates and make way for Naruto to become the next Hokage at the end of the series.

Don't get me wrong, I think it would be great for the story if Guy were to die here. I'm just proposing the possibility that he lives. I think everyone has considered the possibility of Kakashi getting Obito's other eye, but having 2 MS means he will lose his sight entirely at some point and even now his sharingan is loosing light. I think it would suit him better to simply not have it after the war.

Very great point. Yes, Guy has nothing left to do after this, so it would be very fitting for him to die. I'm simply showing other instances of people surviving un-survivable things before.

I think your right about characters suffering injuries or disabilities. Perhaps it will pave the way for Naruto becoming Hokage, but I think it would also serve as a way to show what characters sacrificed in order to achieve victory over Madara.

Yes but he still survived something that was said to be un-survivable. My point is that kishi has created ways for characters to survive before, so its possible he will do the same with Guy.

POSSIBILITIES:

Tsunade could heal him.
Kabuto could heal him.
Sakura could heal him.
The big ass slug could heal him.
Naruto could give him chakra.
Someone could pull a granny Chiyo move and exchange their life force for his.

Lots of possibilities... But I'd rather he died and Orochimaru bring him back as an Edo[\B].

And for those bringing up the flashbacks.. not only did Onoki have flashbacks but Obito had some of the most important and longest flashbacks of this manga and still didn't die after using Rinne Tensei.. soooo yeah.... anything is possible at this point, its Kishi's story. He can do whatever he wants.


(But on a side note, I think for the sake of the story, it would be best for Gai to die a meaningful death like this. Against Madara, protecting important people to him. And having Rock Lee be the new Gai of Konoha so to speak..)

Flashbacks. Jiraiya and Itachi got super flashback tour of doom before they died. Gai's history, especially after his words to Lee. Him surviving wouldn't accomplish much...
