He could survive, doesn't really matter to me... but i agree that would be more epic if Gai dies.

Either way, there was no indication of a method to save Gai before he opened the Gates..actually the opposite.
Everybody said he would die, and Lee would continue his legacy as green beast.

For Naruto, from the minute the Kyuubi was extracted Kishi gave us hints on how they could save him.
And there was absolute no chance of Naruto dying, that was quite obvious.


For Rinne Tensei.. Is there any panel saying that Rinne Tensei kills the user?
Nagato died because he had almost no chakra left, he was VERY weak, he didn't have something like Zetsu support and decided to revive the whole Village, not one or two...
that's what killed him...

Tsunade could heal him.
Kabuto could heal him.
Sakura could heal him.
The big ass slug could heal him.
Naruto could give him chakra.
Someone could pull a granny Chiyo move and exchange their life force for his.

Lots of possibilities... But I'd rather he died and Orochimaru bring him back as an Edo[\B].

Exactly. Kabuto is the best candidate to heal him at this time, but yes any of these shinobi could theoretically do it.

And for those bringing up the flashbacks.. not only did Onoki have flashbacks but Obito had some of the most important and longest flashbacks of this manga and still didn't die after using Rinne Tensei.. soooo yeah.... anything is possible at this point, its Kishi's story. He can do whatever he wants.


(But on a side note, I think for the sake of the story, it would be best for Gai to die a meaningful death like this. Against Madara, protecting important people to him. And having Rock Lee be the new Gai of Konoha so to speak..)

Hey its nice to actually see someone support me xd. I do agree that it would be a meaningful death for Gai, just wanted to comprise a list supporting the possibility of Kishi letting him survive.

Flashbacks. Jiraiya and Itachi got super flashback tour of doom before they died. Gai's history, especially after his words to Lee. Him surviving wouldn't accomplish much...

Well look who hit the nail on the head? Guy might still die but you were right about Naruto giving him chakra.

I think my original idea might come into play here, if Guy lives, he certainly won't be able to perform as a shinobi again. I like how so many people are now posting that idea, relating it to how Lee might have been without his surgery, just as I did 3 weeks ago.
