Loss of blood is a serious condition, and a not very uncommon one in the shinobi battlefield. When a person reaches such a dangerous state, a Medical Ninja can ease their symptoms by using this jutsu. First, the medical nin places a surgically precise cut on the patient and then another cut on the donor. The donor and the recipient must have their respective cuts within six inches of each other; this is typically accomplished by cutting their opposing arms and having them lay beside each other. The Medical Ninja then forms a sphere of chakra between the two cuts drawing out blood from both patients and altering it so that the blood type of the donor matches that of the recipient. It is important to remember that taking more than 1 pint of blood from a donor is extremely dangerous, even with the loss of only 1 pint of blood the donor may suffer from dizziness and fatigue.

The Technique:

(Iryō Ninjutsu: Chishio Tensou no Jutsu) Medical Technique: Blood transfusion Technique

Type: Supplementary
Rank: A-Rank
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 30 (per turn)
Damage Points: N/A
Description: Once the Medical Ninja has a donor (a willing one or not), he or she makes two small cuts, one on the patient, and one on the donor, placing them side by side so it is easy to put those cuts about 30 cms apart. Then the Nin forms a chakra orb which then transfuses the blood from the donor to the patient. The technique requires high levels of chakra control and can even change the blood type of the donor to match that of the patient.
Note: It transfers 400ml of blood per turn

Homework:

The homework for the class is to write a small description and explanation of blood loss and its effects on humans, namely in narutoverse context. You'll be graded in how you can join real life logic with narutoverse logic.

The blood in a person's body carries oxygen and nutrients throughout the blood vessels delivering it to tissues and organs while also removing any waste. It is made up of red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, and plasma. The red blood cells carry and release oxygen throughout the body, white blood cells help fight infection and platelets help the blood form clots, which stops bleeding. When a person suffers a wound, or puncture to a vessel blood begins to escape the body there are other ways blood can escape the vessels beyond just a punctured vessel though such as internal bleeding, or tears to the organs.

Blood loss in the real world comes in two forms, rapid blood loss and gradual blood loss. When it comes to rapid blood loss the person's blood pressure falls, and they may become dizzy, lightheaded and cold losing the ability to think rationally. Blood pressure falls because the amount of fluid in the vessels becomes insufficient to sustain the body, and tissue. Due to rapid blood loss the body’s oxygen supply would be drastically reduced because the number of oxygen-carrying red blood cells will have decreased at a quick pace. Both of these symptoms can lead to a stroke, heart attack or even death if not treated quickly. When blood loss occurs gradually over time, the person may be tired, short of breath, and pale. If too much blood is lost, a condition known as hypovolemic shock can occur. Hypovolemic shock is when severe blood and fluid loss causes the heart to be unable to pump sufficient blood to the body. This results, in the tissue not getting enough oxygen, leading to tissue and organ damage. If left untreated, this condition can be fatal.

When it comes to the rp, blood loss is usually a regular occurrence. When a shinobi in a battle losses blood at a rapid pace due to a wound their movements end up being slowed, their reactions tend to be slowed and in certain situations even their ability to mold and use chakra falters. Due to the fact that a shinobi tends to be in battle when blood loss occurs, they tend to have 2-4 turns to stop the bleeding or get medical attention before they die because of it. The effects of blood loss are usually up to the sensei or mod checking a fight.

Hemorrhaging or also known as "Blood Loss" is what occurs when blood escapes the circular system of the person either internally, like within the vessels or externally through openings like the nose, ears, mouth etc or physical puncture. The blood is what fuels the body in ways and keeps everything working together. Not only that but it carries very important nutrients and such to the necessary organs throughout as they are filtered through the body. There are four classified levels of blood loss that increase in severity.

  1. When the patient has lost about 15% of their overall blood there will be no visual signs and he may just feel slightly dizzy. (In Narutoverse)

  2. When the patient loses 15-30% of total blood volume. A patient's heart rate increases with a narrowing of the difference between the systolic and diastolic blood pressures which are vessels inside of the heart. The user's body attempts to compensate with peripheral vasoconstriction which means is the narrowing of the blood vessels resulting from contraction of the muscular wall of the vessels, in particular the large arteries and small arterioles. Skin may start to look pale and be cool to the touch. The patient may exhibit slight changes in behavior. Blood transfusion is not typically required at this stage yet. In this stage you'd feel dizzy and very fatigued with no energy to perform complicated tasks. Making it hard to focus completely.

  3. Involves loss of 30-40% of circulating blood volume. The patient's blood pressure drops, the heart rate increases, shock and the mental status worsens. Blood transfer is definitely necessary at this point. I would say this is the stage at which the shinobi feels very fatigued and on the verge of passing out.

  4. Lastly, after losing more than 40% of circulating blood volume, the limit of the body's compensation is reached and aggressive resuscitation is required to prevent death. The body enters into something similar to the staging of hypovolemic shock which is a state of decreased blood volume; more specifically, decrease in volume of blood plasma. Blood plasma containing many important nutrients in your blood.

In the Narutoverse the most common experiences a shinobi goes through in battle are the first two stages which consist of mild blood loss, either by being graced by a thrown projectile or stabbing one's self to be released from an illusion. If the battle worsens and the user loses a limb, or is stabbed in an important artery, the severity of the blood loss would escalate to level 3 & 4 at which point it needs to be treated as soon as possible and a blood transfusion needs to take place. This is not to say that the level 1 & 2 aren't dangerous levels. If the patient is unable to naturally coagulate his blood it means that he will continue to lose blood at a slow rate, but lose it nonetheless which means he will need a blood transfusion to survive before the stages escalate.

Long story short, blood - a body fluid - is vital to the well being of a human, or mammal, as it is responsible for the transportation of nutrients, oxygen and metabolic waste around the human body. Loss of blood, then, would inhibit the bodies ability to execute these vital functions.
Blood Loss - the act of blood flowing out from the circulatory system - is medically termed as a 'haemorrhage', which can occur as either internal or external bleeding. Internal bleeding would involve blood escaping from vessels into a patients 'internals' - within their body, such as into a cavity between tissues - i.e lung capillaries bursting and releasing blood into alveoli would count as internal bleeding. External, then, is the act of blood leaving the body entirely, i.e vaginal bleeding, nose bleeds, or being cut, or you know, vaginal bleeding.

As aforementioned, losing blood can be srs bsns, as it can inhibit the bodies ability to perform vital functions, and the severity of interference will increase proportionally to the amount of blood lost, obviously. Losing a bit of blood then, won't interfere with homoeostasis much, but losing too much will kill you as the bodies vital processes will begin to shut down.
Blood loss is split into categories defined by the total volume of fluid lost, and these are as follows;

At Class I is a haemorrhage that involves up to 15% of a persons blood volume. Generally there won't be any serious side effects, vitals will remain consistent and resuscitation won't be necessary. Have a nice shake and burger and you'll be solid soon enough, true story.

More severe then, would be the class II Haemorrhage . The heart start beating faster to get better use of the blood that it still has left; What do you do when you don't have enough delivery men to deliver your pizzas? You tell them to drive and deliver faster if they want their bloody pay, that's what. (Lol, but no, in all seriousness the heart has to work harder because less blood = lower blood pressure = the pump has to be stronker) Also, the amount of pressure in blood vessels during times when the heart is beating and not beating will become increasingly similar (systolic and diastolic blood pressure). The body will also begin to compensate by supplying less blood to regions that aren't absolutely vital - such as organs, this is called peripheral vasoconstriction, and will result in paler and cold skin and other side effects. Someone with this level of haemorrhaging needs fluids such as saline solution, but an actual blood transfusion is not necessary.
Severer still is the Class III haemorrhage that involves loss of 30-40% of circulating blood volume. The patient's blood pressure drops, the heart rate increases, peripheral hypoperfusion (shock) ( Which is basically cellular damage and inadequate tissue function), they'll also get drowsy/start hallucinating etc. At this point saline solutions and blood transfusions are necessary
Class IV Hemorrhage involves loss of >40% of circulating blood volume. The limit of the body's compensation is reached and aggressive resuscitation is required to prevent death. TLDR; You'll die if you don't get fluids m9.

Pleb shinobi will often find themselves bleeding in battle, such as after having to release a genjutsu by inflicting a wound, or because they were too incompetent to properly defend from an attack. Most of them however have a semi-decent brain, and because of this likely won't experience more than a class 1, maybe class 2. If they're experiencing a Class 3 then they're either getting worked by their opponent or done effed up. Either way, it's not looking good for them. Saying that their reactions would drop is an understatement, their ability to perform any physical action would be severely hampered, their ability to effectively mold chakra would likely be inhibited as the creation of most techniques requires some degrees of concentration, and if they don't get help they'll definitely pass out pretty quickly. Obviously if they hit Class 4 then they might as well throw in the towel.
