That's not the point, the fact is that the prophecy did not bring anything good for Naruto as a character.
Just compare the part 1 Naruto and beginning of part 2 with what he turned out to be, it's a shame.
It has nothing to do with the fanboys.

If that were the case I would not be here complaining about how your character ended, hell.
The Naruto that I liked was the one who fought against fate, and not the Chosen One.
I wish Tobi could have stayed in his idiot form forever. I loved the part where he was trolling the 8 man cell during the hunt for Itachi arc. A jester kind of villain would have made a nice change of pace from the emos who wanted to burn the Narutoverse as well.

well naruto himself didn't change just his story, kishi ran out of ideas.

Naruto turned into an unrealistic character able to forgive even the one who caused the death of his parents, transformed the life of his best friend in hell, began a war that caused the death of thousands of shinobi, including his comrade, Neji.
But you say he is still the same ...
He never said he's was the Chosen one, but then it says "can do anything".
Not to mention his ego at the beginning of the war, the conversation with Itachi did not help much.
This is not the Naruto I know.

Naruto - The guy became literally unbearable during the Pein arc.
Gaara in part II - I swear this guy's sphincter tightens when he says the word Naruto.
Kurama - He was this fearsome malevolent entity, and then, he became a domesticated, whipped ***** with fetters on its neck.
Obito - He was only good as Tobi.
Madara - His Hashirama fanboyism was nauseating.
Hashirama - He turned out to be a complete idiot like Naruto.

Naruto-It's not because of the child prophecy thing, it's his Sasuke obsession and how in the entire war arc he has been spouting shit, thinking he can defeat the enemy and save everyone all by himself. And, the whole Obito being the coolest guy ever just puts the icing in the cake. Part 1 Naruto was such a good character, he really was an outstanding main character for shonen. It was easier to sympathise with him is well. Not to mention, his TNJ really got out of hand.
Obito- When he was Tobi he was so cool, the way he planned everything out. When the mask came off everything went to hell.
Black Zetsu- I didn't really care about him before, however after the Madara stab his character is filled with plot holes.
Hinata- I am leaning towards dislike, despite still officially being neutral. Finding out she's all filler makes me want to puke and ashamed that I even liked her, heck even her boobs in canon are not that big...still a SasuHina fan though. I know she's a side character, but that doesn't stop me for not get grossed out by this horrific fact.
That's about it...from initial liking to dislike/hating.
