Weird matchup. But I'll say Gaara would win more often than Minato. Gaara has the ability to know where Minato and each and every kunai are with his sand(Gaara feels by touch with his sand), so he has a major advantage here. Now I know there's quite the chance that Gaara can't keep up with instant attacks from midair teleports, but Gaara has the ability to sink kunai that are on the ground and render them useless. Nor does Gaara have to worry about Minato's speed seeing how Gaara's sand is quick enough to stop V2 Lightening Armor A's attack on Sasuke.

Gaara's only concern should be kunai flying in the air, and he can deal with those by assuming that if Kunai aren't on the ground, the direction where Minato faces or his own location is where Minato is most likely to teleport or throw kunai. Gaara just has to much going for him in a desert.

Doesn't he need to spread kunai to teleport? Wouldn't Gaara sink them in the sand :wut:

Minato gets dealt with, why would he fight gaara in the very terrain the can he can maniuplate by sinking all his FTG formulas/knives into quicksand? And minato lacks proficient firepower to fight Gaara in the desert. Gaara's sand is able to cover the whole village and he blocked a village busting move (C3). Gaara could fly and rasengan no matter how big is not defeating a tidal wave of sand.

Minato is 100 times faster than rock lee or guy in every gate form combined being the fact that his ability is teleportation not a active run or sprint like the gates are. Therefore gaara couldn't even begin to manipulate the sand before minato teleports right in his face then rasengans, ending the match immediately.

Minato is faster than Gaara's sand. All he needs to do is spread his Kunai, teleport to the closest one to Gaara and blitz him before Gaara's sand could protect him.

No he is not. Gaara one shots. Minato barely dodged Bee and blitzed out twice in his hand. Gaara stopped V2 A punch with killing intent. Minato has zero counters to Gaara's place altering skills. :lol

He can teleport in a certain vicinity of the spot where kunai is... So even if it's swallowed by Sand he can still teleport a few meters away

Not that it would matter.. The fight would most likely be over in a second

No one is doubting Minato's speed but you do realize that he needs to keep his feet on the ground even if it's a faction of a second? And he can't spam FTG either that still requires chakra too. We've seen how Gaara deals with speedsters even ones that have greater foot speed than Minato's.
Minato can't reach Gaara without , however in this scenario the battle takes place in a desert. If minato scatters his mark around, Gaara can immediately sink those knives underground because he controls everything on the ground. He has no way of reaching Gaara let alone fly to reach him too.
It doesn't matter how fast he can move instant or not, he has to reach point B from A at full stop.

1.- Gaara would trap Minato off guard since he doesnt know about Gaara.
2.- Minato would teleport away before Gaara can notice.

Now Minato is aware of Gaara's ability and Gaara doesnt know what happened.

3.- Minato summons Gamabunta to use suiton and make Heavier the Sand.
4.- Gaara sand wont catch Minato.
5.- Minato will use a combo with his Kunai and Gaara will cover himself not knowing that Minato can teleport to the Kunai.
6.- The kunai is near to Gaara and Minato appears and finishes Gaara before his sand could react.

Finish.

Gaara's sand is slow to those like Sasuke and Lee. Minato is faster than them.

Everyone is assuming gaara Will have the Time to counter and attack With the sand And that is supposed to give him An edge...

Minato is Just too fast for gaara to be able to even react to his shuunshin, let alone flying thunder god

Gaara stands a chance with a great deal of prep, and even then minato can easily jump away with gamabunta And all

Ignored, nice try troll. Won't entertain childish behavior.

He doesn't need to keep his feet on the ground, no clue where you got that from. Like displayed when he fought obito he can use it to fly in the air so he can just juggle himself in the air endlessly and thus eventually catch him rock lee style. He doesn't need a firmly placed kunai to teleport himself to it either, everyone here i assume is purposely nerfing minato so gaara can win which he wouldn't even have a chance in all reality when faced against the yellow flash.

Minato isn't that fast. He was blitzed by Bee twice. Bee is his max at base, and his sand can shift the markings somewhere else. This is as logical as it can get.

The answer depends on how you think FTG works.

Edit: Matter of fact it doesn't. Minato wins via gamabunta. A toad who can easily dodge all of Gaara's wide scale attacks and slow down his sand with oil.

This would be quite the fight, as their abilities counter one another's quite effectively. But unless this fight happens in a desert, Minato takes it. He covers the surrounding area in kunai and Gaara will take time before creating more sand, so he won't be able to swallow up them all out at once. Especially when he'll be busy with Minato attacking immediately thereafter. Now, his sand may have gotten faster over the years, but it hasn't gotten stronger. Sand is still sand. And if it was barely holding back one of base unweighted Lee's punches, it ain't gonna hold against Minato's Rasengan. Once Minato bursts his so called impenetrable defense, he'd touch Gaara, tag him.

And then its as good as over.

EDIT: Aaaand I didn't properly read the title. It IS in a desert...in which case, Gaara wins...unless Minato has the Kyuubi on him.
