(Don't remember the name) The shoes are some old "form of getta" from a long time ago ( i'm not sure about the precise era but I think it's around Heian period). You can see some of them in samurai japanese films, so using them to these kind of ennemies from an "old" times is quite logic.

As for the "red" rinnegan, it looks like the eye of the juubi.

Me being confused on a character's gender is not interesting in the slightest. Never has that made a character interesting, so many characters are like that nowadays its nothing new.

Its got no color. White and gray = Boring.
