Not accurate or confirmed from Manga or Kishi source.

1. Tanuki
2. Nekomata
3. Isonade
4. Son Goku
5. Houkou
6. Raijuu
7. Kaku
8. Yamata
9. Kurama
Killer Bee called the Eight-Tails Hattsan so you would assume that would be his name but I wouldn't full confirm that. Tanuki seems to be an odd name because even though he may be one, that doesn't mean it is a name for him. That's why I thought Mujina would be a name due to the mythology about the Mujina.

i cant get over the fact the 4 tails name is son goku lol
Kewl, apparently neither can half of Narutobase :|

It would make sense if you look at Japanese stories and not just look at popular culture and believe that everything Kishi does has something to do with Dragonball. Many authors make references to other anime/manga but in this case, I don't believe he was actually aiming for that and rather he was aiming to make a reference to the Journey to the West story.

lets start with son goku- he is a human monkey or an ape in DBZ

kurama- i remember this name from yuyu hakusho.. hes the human fox right?

so maybe the bijuu names are based on anime characters that has the same characteristics

NO! Son Goku is based off of a story that ISN'T Dragonball :|

What do you guys think the names for the other Jinchuuriki are? Also you can discuss Bijuu name related topics here.

Ichibi - Shukaku (?) - Gaara - Raccon/Dog ( )

Nibi - ??? - Yugito Nii - Cat ( )

Sanbi - ??? - Yagura -

Yonbi - Son Goku - Rōshi -

Gobi - ??? - Han - Dolphin/Horse

Rokubi - ??? - Utakata - Slug

Nanabi - ??? - Fū - Rhinoceros Beetle

Hachibi - Hattsan (?) - Killer Bee - Octopus/Bull

Kyubi - Kurama - Naruto Uzumaki - Fox ( )

Ichibi - I think the Ichibi's real name is Danzaburo-Tanuki. In the tale of Danzaburo, he is the head of all Tanuki on Sado island and was credited with ridding the island of foxes. So I guess this character dislikes foxes, just like Shukaku dislikes Kurama, who is a fox. Danzaburo can also create mirages. Mirages can relate to the Desert, the type of place you'd find Shukaku wandering in.*

Nibi - Nekomata. I say this because a Nekomata is a Bakaneko with a forked tail. So the tail had basically split into two. Nibi is a two tailed demon cat.*

Sanbi - Either Genbu, the Black Tortoise in constellations, because of it's relation to turtles. Kurma, *large mythological turtle in Hinduism. Or Gamera, a monster turtle in Kaiju Films, like Godzilla. There is a possibility that Kishi loves those kind of movies and would love to use the name. xD I'm leaning more towards Genbu though.

Yonbi - We already know, Son Goku.

Gobi - I'm not sure about this one.*

Rokubi - I want to say Sazae, taken from Sazae-Oni, a monster snail. Not really sure though because the Rokubi doesn't have a shell on it's back. But Sazae-Oni can grow large, has human hands, and can spew a mist out. Rokubi is large, has little hands, and in the manga has released a deadly gas that can pass for mist.

Nanabi - Kabutomushi! Only thing I can think of because that is the Japanese name for a Rhinoceros Beetle. "Helmet" - Kabuto and "Bug" - Mushi.

Hachibi - Don't know this one.

Kyuubi - Kurama.

I'm not actually surprised if the 9 tailed demon fox is called "Kurama"
That name was mentioned in Japanese stories.

Son Gokou originally came from Chinese myth. if you guys know the anime Genzomaden Saiyuki, one of the main characters there is also named "Son Gokou" who uses the same weapon as Gokou in DB and both (Gokou in DB and in GS) resembled a monkey, I guess.

If you read old Dragonball, not DragonballZ but Dragonball, Goku calls Android 8 by Hattchan.

Not Android 18, I'm talking about the frankenstein looking android.

Chan and San are honorifics.

For the people who keep talking about Dragonball, as has been said several times before, Akira did not made the name Son Goku. He got that from the story "Journey to the West". Yes there is influence from DB in Naruto and Kishi even stated that he based the Yonbi on Oozaru, however if you think that he took the name Son Goku from DB while not being aware that it was from another story you're severely mistaken, especially when you're going to use it to say that he's now going to use several DB names. Most of the DB names are based on food: Kakarot = carrot, Vegeta = vegetable, Raditz = radish...

In another Thread some1 sayed that the name of the eight tales could be Hattsan when you read Chapter 567 page 6 right down where Bee talks with the 8 tails

In One Piece there's a character that is called Hacchan (which is pronounced the same as Hattsan, just like Luffy can be said as Ruffy) and he's an octopus merman. It just means something along the lines of having 8 arms, so I sincerely doubt it's his real name. I mean Hachibi and Hattsan/Hacchan are way too similar to be considered his real name.

Tanuki is an animal. He's not going to have an animal name. I mean Son Goku isn't named "Ape" nor is Kurama named "Fox".

Name for the Hachibi? Takoyaki maybe if the SO6P had a sense of humor?
