wouldn't kraken be better for three tails?the 8 tails= KRAKEN
How is a turtle a better representation then an octopus when you are looking at a mythological, giant octopus?wouldn't kraken be better for three tails?
Not really, it could be a slight reference to that but it is mainly about how Son Goku can also be interpreted as "Monkey King". The Four-Tails is a monkey, a very large monkey so it would make sense <_<I am surprised to see the name of the 4 tails but we had to expect that. Masashi Kishimoto is influenced by Akira's work and with this i think its a "thank you" to him. For inspiring him and for bringing to the world such a great manga; Dragonball.
I thought that was what they called it. It may just be what the villagers of Sunagakure referred to the Ichibi as so it may not be his actual name.Lol at these guys. I think ichibi name was revealed waaay back in part 1 as shukaku.
Son goku is named not only after dragonball z but also after the monkey king from the story "journey to the west" if you look at other mangas, animes or movies or etc that make refrence to the journey to the west the "monkey character" is usually named son goku. Also another reason that its a dbz refrence is cuz the jinchuriki is roshi and apparently a sage of his village. Roshi in dbz was also a sage/hermit. But than again roshi is also copied from the journey to the west if i am not mistaken.
Kurama is somewhat related to 9 tails myth. I remember kurama from yu yu hakusho who was also a fox demon.
I have no idea what the names of the otger beats will be but itll probably be japanese lol not "frank"
actually if my memory is correct the one to mention his name being Shukaku and bring it up was Gambabunta. not ppl form his village. but thats based off my memory so i may be wrong.I thought that was what they called it. It may just be what the villagers of Sunagakure referred to the Ichibi as so it may not be his actual name.
good observationIn another Thread some1 sayed that the name of the eight tales could be Hattsan when you read Chapter 567 page 6 right down where Bee talks with the 8 tails

Yeah, that's what I have been noticing with a lot of the things that Kishi adds.Shukaku (Tanuki) ~ The Japanese raccoon dog (Nyctereutes procyonoides viverrinus), also known as tanuki (狸 or タヌキ?) in Japanese, is a subspecies of the raccoon dog native to Japan.
Kyuubi (Karama) ~ It translates to the word car in Japanese, but I'm sure the anime is referring to a Youkai Kistune, a fox demon, named Kurama
So I'm assuming the others names are related to Their animals and Japanese myths.
Baku doesn't sound right for a dolphin horse and the mythological context feels off. I think Baku would be a good name for the cat however.I'm not sure about this but I'm assuming one of these are the Gobi's name;
