Hello,
Long time troller, first time poster...
Just wanted to give some hope to those that want to "not believe" that kakashi is dead...
not everyone that is "grayed out" on that picture is dead...
Hidan is very much alive.
blown to pieces at the bottom of a big hole, but alive.

but check the picture again guys
the 3rd hokage isnt grayed out, bottom left above killer bee, thats definitely his little goatee beard
I see these possibilities
1.The artists kinda forgot-it has been years.
2.They purposefully showed the 3rd hokage as not dead because maybe the death god jutsu doesn't kill you, meaning its hinting minato, the 4th hokage may still be alive.
3.Kakashi is dead.
I dont get the whole "kakashi still has to develop more sharingan techniques and catch up with sasuke"
well...Not really, he doesnt have to do anything, life isnt perfect and sometimes people die before they get to see others progress or progress themself.
Itd be a very unrealistic manga to have everyone die in the places where theyre most happy, in fact it would make predicting deaths pretty much obvious if that was a pre-requisite.
Also orochimaru isnt dead.
Itachi SEALED him, into an eternal genjutsu, that is not death, and also a white snake was seen after that battle.
Hidan cant die-he is alive underground

Hidan is dead!!!. Even Akatsuki think of him as dead. Even though he's immortal he's dead in most people's eye's.

^^^^ lol all good. Even though it evidence suggests kakashi is dead we wont know until kishi unveils his fate. And i think hell keep us hanging to keep us in anticipation.

u got some points there, it was a mistake OR it was like your saying, minato didnt ''died'' (yes, he did but he appeared on anrutos mind) so maybe the 3rd Hokage will appear now in the end.. idk

Sasuke and Gaara have died before in the manga, but unlike those two... to date no one has said flat out that Kakashi is dead yet. Jiraiya was obviously dead (as was Gaara).
Also, Naruto's father never mentions Kakashi as one of the dead even though Kakashi is his direct pupil.

How many times have we been surprised that a person is not dead? Kishi is unpredictable. Kakashi is dead after we see his burial ceremony. Otherwise, it could go either way.
Anyways, manga 443 shows Naruto talking to Inoichi about his feelings toward pain and what he did to his master (I belief he was referring to Pervy sage). Why didn't he say "masters" (in plural)? Although he mentioned the village and everyone in it, I would think he would refer to his Kakashi sensei more specifically if he was dead. That is just a guess.

Obviously this black and white picture is not older than two months since that is when the chapter was released with the pro- and antagonist on one coverpage.

So deducting, by the time this picture was made, all the other people were already dead: Jiraya Itachi, Hidan etc. All had already died, except for Kakashi, he was the figure everyone was wondering about... Ok, it seems like he is dead, but that doesn't mean Tsunade can't use a forbidden jutsu to bring him back!
Two big things are missing from this for Kakashi to be dead:
Naruto's father mentions Jiraiya's death but not Kakashi... Kakashi was the student of Naruto's father so that's just odd.
No one has said Kakashi's dead yet, I mean... no one at all, that's just odd.. and the slug still stayed on him when Pein blasted Konoha (not to mention the surge of chakra when Tsunade's slug found Kakashi).
Heck, no one even mentioned Kakashi even when he was laying right there with the other injured people with slugs on them. He seems way too important in the ninja world to not get atleast a tiny notice for being dead.
And if he is dead, I'm not sure the current Hokage would allow two people she was found of die (Jiraiya AND Kakashi).
As far as the grey fill-ins, it could just mean those who were completely defeated from a side vs side perspective. Not really dead, because we all know Hidan can't die and he could be eating dirt and pooping out of his neck right now in order to get to his other body parts

Why would yondaime know kakashis dead?
Yondaime can see what naruto sees, naruto was not in the battle with kakashi nor did he see it, he only noticed tsunade looking sad and sage mode detecting his chakra presence was nil.
Tsunade has pretty much confirmed kakashis death.
When chouji asked if kakashi was okay too (after she confirmed his father was alive) she went quiet and lowered her head crying or nearing crying)
Kakashi is far gone, even tsunade appears to THINK hes dead, meaning kakashi is either dead or so far into a coma/near death even tsunade cant do anything.
Kakashi dying makes a lot of sense, it gives the old generation closure, really the only decent powerful ninja left from last generation is kakashi, now the young-uns can take over.
It sucks, but it makes sense, if kakashi is alive il be joyous beyond belief, hes my favourite character and feel he made the series, if it werent for kakashi i would have given up on the anime when i first watched it, i really only watched the boring first 10 episodes because kakashi was so awesome.
But he does appear to be in a seriously bad position right now.
If he survives and is able to continue fighting as a ninja in the future he must be one helluva lucky guy.

I disagree Kakashi is the only one that is a true tie between Naruto and Minato he's the only that might have the info that Naruto will need... It's like when Pa came back with a code on his back and Naruto figured out the key because of his relationship with sensei... I think Kakashi is the person that can be that for Naruto he knew that The Rasengan was a incomplete jutsu when Jiriya failed to mention or didnt know that it was incomplete so he can be there to fill the gaps when Naruto's putting everything together...

Na, Kakashi isn't dead. Nearly dead? DUH! But c'mon! Big O (Orochimaru) is greyed out and you KNOW he's coming back some how. I think Kishi's just making us all worried!
True. Though, since he will come back via Kabuto, it's not technically Oro that's back.
But frankly, I'm wondering that the title of this thread says " Kakashi is dead or almost dead" when we already know that he has to be almost dead, if not dead, since we saw him being smashed up by Pain.
