But he's never expressed ANY interest in ANY girl, EVER. Rebuilding his clan would be the easiest thing in the world, and pretty enjoyable too.

Perhaps I should have included the bit about him picking more and more unrealistic targets for his wrath, even when it makes no sense for him to go after them... He can't honestly expect that attacking Konoha (if it has even half of its full military available) will end in anything but his own death?

You missed the most important manga page to your theory though, the one where Sasuke says to Edo Itachi that he should have just killed him along with his parents on that night.
