Lets take a look at our (least?) favorite Uchiha's psychological makeup.
First, his own words:
He wants to kill Itachi, and to resurrect his clan.
He's lying through his teeth. He certainly DID want to kill Itachi, but to recreate the Uchiha Clan?
There has NEVER been a single instance of him being even SLIGHTLY interested in producing offspring to carry on his name. Prove me wrong. If you can, I'd be very grateful.
Now look at his reaction when he sees Itachi again:
His trump card is dealt with as easily as he must have known, in his heart of hearts, that it would be. He can't possibly believe himself to have reached Itachi's level at this point.
And he doesn't stop. His most dangerous technique has been easily neutralized. Now he's just BEGGING Itachi to kill him:
He doesn't think much of his old Clan's practices:
Naruto is COMPLETELY at his mercy, yet Sasuke won't kill him. The death of his closest friend is too high a price to pay, even in the pursuit of his most important goal. He'd be no better than his brother if he went that far.
In Shippuuden, EVERYTHING is about Itachi's death. There's no other motivation to be found.
Sasuke kills him, and just LOOK at his expression. He's done. There is no more to do, he may as well simply lie down and let it end here:
And Itachi turns out to have been a hero, who loved Sasuke more than anything in the world.
Sasuke's life goal, his ONLY goal, has only ever been pointless. His Clan's practices are barbaric and ought not to be continued. He himself has no reason to keep going on.
Yet he won't end it himself. Instead, he follows Tobi's orders, even when he KNOWS they'd more than likely result in his death. As Tobi says: "You shouldn't be so reckless with your life."
But he is, because it means nothing to him now.
So, do you agree?
