I am not sure how many but some people on the base seem to think that Ashura was a jinchuriki. This thread is meant to highlight the reasons why he most likely wasn't.
The main reason why people think he was jinchuriki was because of his battle avatar
I believe I speak for everyone when I say that the first thing we thought of when we saw the avatar was naruto's BM kurama avatar. The seals and markings on both avatars are almost identical
But let us take a closer look at ashura's avatar and naruto's kurama mode.
Perhaps the biggest difference is in their appearance. Apart from them most likely being the same colour and having similar markings, They look nothing alike.
First off naruto's kurama mode is far larger than ashura's avatar. This alone will start to bring in some doubt about ashura being a jinchuriki since naruto's kurama avatar is exactly the same size as yang kurama who is exactly the same size as the other bijuu. To put it simply all the bijuu are larger than Ashura's avatar.
Secondly Ashura's avatar looks nothing like Kurama or any bijuu for that matter. Now some may say that Ashura might have had bits and pieces of all the bijuu's chakra like naruto does leading to the avatars appearance. But wouldn't the avatar have a closer resemblance to the juubi? Yet it doesn't it has 2 or 3 faces (can't really tell) and six arms. It definitely does not fit any bijuu description there.
Some of the scans some people post to support their view on Ashura being a jinchuriki are the following scans
The above scans seem to suggest that Ashura needed help to compete with his superior older brother. This might also further suggest that as Indra continued to acquire more strength, Ashura would need a stronger source of power in order to compete with Indra, The bijuu.
However another scan exists that dismisses this notion.
Yes, Ashura equalled his brother prior to the creation of the 9 bijuu. Atleast that is what the scan suggests.
Conclusion
While I am not completely dismissing the fact that Ashura might have been a jinchuriki I am just trying to point out the fact that there is more evidence suggesting that he wasn't a jinchuriki then there is suggesting that he was. Naruto might be Ashura's reincarnation, but that does not mean they have to be the same. Hahsirama who was a reincarnation of Ashura was never a jinchuriki. So it is wrong to assume that because Naruto is a jinchuriki then Ashura must be one as well. I believe Ashura's avatar was a manifestation of his own power not that of some seperate entity.
Perhaps a thread like this was made before, but I am just trying to throw in my own thoughts.
