Ok, so most of you have atleast heard of this game. For those who haven't, it's an multiplayer survival game (also has singleplayer) in which you are stuck at a prehistoric island filled with dinosaurs and you have to find a way to survive in any way you can, be it joining a tribe and fighting together, scraping for resources solo or taming an army of dinosaurs and wrecking everything in your way.

I noticed there's not a thread about it so I decided to make one where we can all discuss the game. So, is there anyone here that plays it? It's currently in Early Access but will come out by the end of 2016. I like it a lot, cuz I'm a dino nerd and all, and really love the fact that we finally got a serious Dinosaur game (with the last one I liked being Jurrassic Park: Operation Genesis). I like the graphics, the variety and freedom, but the technical mess renders me unable to play it at an enjoyable level.

How about you guys? Any fans here? :)

Well, I don't play multiplayer, I'm a lvl 86, my favorite creature is the Giganotosaurus, I'm patiently waiting for the Titanosaurus, admin commands are OP, and I lay on the Xbone.
Giganto is my fav dino too. :3 Tho I never tamed anything that big.

I heard multiplayer was full of cheaters tho, so yeah I like singleplayer too.

You have to play these kind of games with friends to get the full experiment out of the Game. I really like the game and i like how everytime they do a update witg new animals in it.

Dino armor is the sickest, and trex is the sexiest :pkun:

I play it on xbone. It is fun but after playing too much it gets bored. I hope they will make some hunger games mode like the mod and they will make the dinosaurs a bit smarter instead of running into rocks. + adding more dinosaurs especially in the waters

Game gets boring after the first week. At least i did.
Nah, I was enjoying it for quite some time, but yes, eventually it gets boring.

Then again, this is a type of game in which you need to figure out what you're gonna do before starting it, cuz otherwise you'll just end up walking around aimlessly.

Im waiting on the PS4 port. As well as the Forest.
I'd be worried about optimization if I were you. :yay:

Agreed. Those 4 hours of playing with my friend outmatched all the solo hours I put in the game. It's just a different experience entirely when you have someone to talk to and coordinate with.

Well you have Survival of the Fittest (which is now a stand-alone free game btw) so that's pretty interesting.

It's better when I play with some one else, but the server is always full when ever I try joining it again. I have 4 Gigas :) It's fun to spawn alpha Rex, but you can't keep after the you leave the game.....

I play the single-player from time to time. Played 12 hours in total until now.
It's nice, but I'm really bad at this game. Can't avoid dying over and over again, not even talking about building a safe base or managing to tame a dinosaur. I had a Dilophosaurus, but it got stuck at a tree and died later.

Multiplayer doesn't look fun to me. The maps on the public servers are full of floating remains of buildings or you spawn in someone else's base and can't go out. It's lame.

Just ask for tips, it's really simple to overcome such problems, regardless of how big they may seem in the beginning. (Experience talking here.)

First of all, you will die. This is an inevitable process as the game is cruel, and I mean Dark Souls level of cruel. At any given moment it can unleash all bloody hell on you and you're gonna have to do everything you can to survive. It can be frustrating BUT it can be avoided. The most important thing is to mind your surroundings. You should never be "oh look this is a safe area" - no it's not. There are no safe areas in this game. There are predators in every zone and they're procedurally generated, meaning there's no safe zones planned. A T-Rex or a Spino can pop up in the most idillic of places so you need to constantly hold your ground.

That said, don't run when you see a predator. Be like the herbivores around you. Stay calm until you see an attack coming. I'm not saying you should run into a pack of raptors looking for hugs, but don't run away until they get too close for comfort.

Next, mind the needs. The game is very delicate. You'll always be either hungry, thirsty, cold or hot. Since you're playing single player you can tweak these options to your liking and put them on a reasonable level, so you won't have to eat every 2 mins in order to survive but only now and then.

Dinos stuck in trees are a pain but also a good thing. Why? Well, stucking in trees isn't exclusive to your dinos. All dinos get stuck and more often than not you'll end up bumping into a trike or a turtle that's stuck in a tree leaving them an easy target for you to tame. You just gotta shoot them with a sling shot and wait till they drop. Since they're stuck they won't be able to attack you.

Also, building settlements is available very early in the game. Just a simple tatch house will keep you well hidden. (Unless you try to hide in it when already under attack.) Spending a night there will be a smart thing and sleeping bags are always handy in getting back where you were.

Ultimatively, it's a survival game. As such you'll learn how to become better from your mistakes, so the more you die, the more you'll know. Dying doesn't make you bad so heads up and go tame some dinos. :p
