Just ask for tips, it's really simple to overcome such problems, regardless of how big they may seem in the beginning. (Experience talking here.)
First of all, you will die. This is an inevitable process as the game is cruel, and I mean Dark Souls level of cruel. At any given moment it can unleash all bloody hell on you and you're gonna have to do everything you can to survive. It can be frustrating BUT it can be avoided. The most important thing is to mind your surroundings. You should never be "oh look this is a safe area" - no it's not. There are no safe areas in this game. There are predators in every zone and they're procedurally generated, meaning there's no safe zones planned. A T-Rex or a Spino can pop up in the most idillic of places so you need to constantly hold your ground.
That said, don't run when you see a predator. Be like the herbivores around you. Stay calm until you see an attack coming. I'm not saying you should run into a pack of raptors looking for hugs, but don't run away until they get too close for comfort.
Next, mind the needs. The game is very delicate. You'll always be either hungry, thirsty, cold or hot. Since you're playing single player you can tweak these options to your liking and put them on a reasonable level, so you won't have to eat every 2 mins in order to survive but only now and then.
Dinos stuck in trees are a pain but also a good thing. Why? Well, stucking in trees isn't exclusive to your dinos. All dinos get stuck and more often than not you'll end up bumping into a trike or a turtle that's stuck in a tree leaving them an easy target for you to tame. You just gotta shoot them with a sling shot and wait till they drop. Since they're stuck they won't be able to attack you.
Also, building settlements is available very early in the game. Just a simple tatch house will keep you well hidden. (Unless you try to hide in it when already under attack.) Spending a night there will be a smart thing and sleeping bags are always handy in getting back where you were.
Ultimatively, it's a survival game. As such you'll learn how to become better from your mistakes, so the more you die, the more you'll know. Dying doesn't make you bad so heads up and go tame some dinos.
