I have never understood why anyone would need to justify their means of entertainment. Baffles my mind. How let's say Dexter is any more mature than Naruto is unsettling. Whilst you can add certain sense of critique to it. It's ALL mindless entertainment at the end of the day. No better or worse than the other show. It's all a matter of personal tastes.

I for one openly admit that I am a gamer or that I read/watch manga or anime. If anyone even tries to poke unnecessary fun, they know they might get a face full of knuckles in turn. I am unashamed of anything I watch or like. I don't see any reason to feel that way.

Through grade school and shit I lied and tried to be oblivious to anime, but I really didn't know what manga was until I joined this base. It was hard when your mom packed your lunch in a DBZ lunch box. U_U

I then realized my friends wouldn't care. In class I even read some manga now and no one cares. I might get a joke here and there by the teacher, but I mean hey. Tough titty said the kitty, but the milks still warm.

I went to great lengths to seem like I was oblivious and ignorant to Manga/anime in high school. And in college, I still do
I use to be like this until Sophomore [10th grade] year in High School.

Yes. I'm ashamed.

Not of myself, but of the sheer number of those missing out on such a fantastic mode of enjoyment. Of such poor souls that choose to stay uninitiated. Of such ignoramuses that actually look down on it.

Not a chance in Hell, I would never tell my friends.

They caught me playing UNSG once and they gave me flack for that. I made an excuse like "I got it free from Gamestop I thought it was like Street Fighter".

They're still cool, they just think it's stupid.

In my country, if you are below age 15 it is OK to watch cartoons. :D When you are older, well.. :D Kinda funny, everybody laughs and say you're a child.

But I am not embaressed. Friends love me, so like someone has interests in fashion, I have in mangas and cartoons. :) Although they think it's stupid. Luckily I have a few men in campus who like reading mangas too, so we chat about them every week.

Never. I tell all my friends that I watch Anime and read manga and the one's that don't accept me because I watch it can screw off.

yeh, even though my circle of friends is quite varied and somewhat strange, since half watch and enjoy manga and anime, while the other half who are the so called bad mans apparently, despise it and find it puerile, however unfortunately most of them know that i watch and read that kind of stuff, but they don't poke fun at it that often in fact most don't care anymore, and some even tried watching it but later got bored.

you can just tell them you read japanese graphic novels. graphic novels are a great way to hide the fact you like nerdy japanese comics.
