After reading 50% of the answers here, I believe most people do not know what a nerd is...
Let me enlightin you, NERD is a expression that was created in Canada in the 50's and meant, Northern Electric Research and Development, and this expression NERD, was given to scientists that work all night long for the Northern Electric Research and Development in Canada.
Now I ask, do you guys work for the Northern Electric Research and Development?????
I dont... So, in this case, I'm not a NERD.
Unfortunately in the 60's the expression was brought to the USA and instantly this word was given a bad connotation, BUT FOR SAME REASON, in the USA being smart is a bad thing, so the expression NERD was given to the smarter kids in school.
Are you the smarter kid in school??? If so, congrats, you will be rich and sucessful in life, while, the "cool" guys in your school, will sell meals in Mcdonalds for you children. Being smart is good.
Now a days the word NERD have sub-categories, and among them, you can be call a NERD if you are; a Geek, a Gamer, a Fandom, a Otaku (fan of manga), or even a Fanboy.
If you have the connotations above in mind, Geek, Gamer, Fandom, Otaku, Fanboy, do you see yourself as a NERD???
Well, I love manga/anime (Otaku), I love Playtation, I have them all, PSX, PSP, PS2 and PS3, all in the multiple forms, fat and slim, and I have over 200 games (Gamer and Fanboy), I love Formula 1 and football (Fanboy).
But above all, I love my wife and kid.
Am I a Nerd???
I'm a good husband a father, and also a Otaku, a old Gamer and Fanboy.
Make your one conclusions, I'm proud of what I've done and accomplished.
