The element is based on: Absence of Heat|Temperature|Ice
Facts that prove the element to be possible (in the manga context): Cold refers to the condition or subjective perception of having low temperature; it is the absence of heat or warmth.
Cooling refers to the process of becoming cold, or lowering in temperature. This could be accomplished by removing heat from a system, or exposing the system to an environment with a lower temperature. This could be achieved by using ice chakra. By expanding it through the air, the user could create a cold environment, however that isn't enough, so, by using more wind chakra, the user can make the environment to get even get colder at a faster rate, since wind is a fast element. Wind chakra can also be used to expand the ice chakra with more rating success than using solely ice chakra. So for the user to cool down something, first, the user needs to cool down the environment, mainly the air. So, with this, we are cooling the air.
Air cooling is the process of cooling an object by exposing it to air. This will only work if the air is at a lower temperature than the object, and the process can be enhanced by increasing the surface area or decreasing the mass of the object. With this, the user can make ice jutsus more powerful and taking them to the next level by also cooling the environment around them, meaning the energy of the environment won't mix directly with Ice jutsus.
Until now, we know how to cool down objects, however, the main objective is to take away the heat from anything, like fire, which is what i'll be explaining now.
Fire can be extinguished by removing any one of the elements of the fire tetrahedron.
By application of water, which removes heat from the fire faster than the fire can produce it, fire can be extinguished (meaning one could extinguish the fire by taking away it's heat, faster than the fire can produce it)
Also, the first law of thermodynamics states that the energy of an isolated system is conserved. Therefore, to change the energy of a system, energy must be transferred to or from the system.
This means heat depends on energy, so, by extracting one's own ice chakra/''cold energy'' to the exterior and by absorbing the heat of the environment (ground, sun, fire, etc), the user would be able to create a cold environment, by cooling it to the point of taking away any heat present on a flame and extinguish it.
Now that the theory was explained, i'll explain the practice.
Each time the user uses a ''cold release'' jutsu he will release his ice chakra around him with the help of wind chakra to have a better action rate. This will make the user to release chakra (energy) on the environment. However, the user will release ''cold energy'' which has less energy than the heat he will absorb, creating a disturbance of energy on the environment, decreasing the energy inside of it, an thus, decreasing the heat. Because the environment has less energy, the user's overload of energy will quickly be emanated to the exterior, creating again, a balance of energy inside of the environment so that the user isn't much affected by the overload of energy inside of himself. Altough this reduces the damage the user receives in part, it represents great danger for the user to absorb great amounts of energy. This may cause disturbance on his inner system and burns on his body.
Idea behind its creation: A way of defending against fire based CE's.
Conditions to be able to use it: Good Chakra Control|Mastery over Ice Element|Mastery over Wind Element
Is weak to: Wood (thermal insulator)|Wind (disturbs the air around, making the jutsu less effective)
Is strong against: Water|Fire|Fire based Ce's.
