What is the deal with this? Why are some people so adamantly and some even angrily against the Sage being an Uzumaki? That would be good for the plot. I can't see anything wrong with that.

There really isn't anything wrong. If anything it is a testament to both Kishimoto's ability to hint something with subtle hints, and people like SDO to find these out and piece the possibilities together. The only people who I have noticed are really against it are the Senju/Uchiha hard core fans that don't want to believe it. Other than that, it is a generally accepted consensus that their is a massive possibility he was an Uzumaki.

Eh, in my personal opinion it kinda ruins it, considering it you're not an Uzamaki or Uchiha, or senju, you're irrelevant. I would enjoy it more if he was just a powerful shinobi, from a regular family...

It doesn't make people angry at the thought of it, people get annoyed because there have been multiple instances in the manga which contradict such a theory. Yet, the diehard Uzumaki fans still get starry eyed over the idea.

I don't see how it ruins it. he is one of the last Uzamaki this would also but some light onto why the clan was wiped out.

Personally, I have nothing against the Sage being an Uzumaki. I do however, dislike it when people blindly state that he is like it's been confirmed already. It's likely, yes, but it's no more than a theory. I'm guessing that's the reason so many people are against it.

I dislike it because of how.. It makes Naruto less of what attracted me to the characterl. An underdog, someone who wasn't set for life. Knowing he is a descendant or possibly reincarnation of well, God, would make me lose even more interest in him.

The moment the Bijuu's paralleled him with Rikudou is when the whole "underdog" theme was completely vanquished.

I couldn't agree more. Sasuke should have been the one to have the special heritage(uchiha only) so that it can be shown that a nobody can over come an elite. If or when naruto defeats him.

Such as...?
The famous quote which states that the Uzumaki are no more than distant relatives of the Senju. Some people interpret this as meaning distant as in direct ancestry, but the timeline from the Ninshu era onwards simply isn't long enough. The other quote being the most obvious, the one where it was stated that the Sage was both Senju and Uchiha, in other words, he had a single, unique bloodline, which split between his two sons. The Uzumaki most logically occured as the offspring of a Senju and another, possibly non-select shinobi.

Other problems with the theory:

1) If Senju + Uchiha = Uzumaki, why were the Uzumaki only famous for their stamina and sealing abilites? Why don't they have powerful eyes and spiritual abilites, and adeptness for anything combat related? And if the Sage were an Uzumaki, why were neither of his offspring and their descendants noted for an adeptness with seals?

2) The problem noted above - There has never even been a hint that the Uzumaki have any sort of relations to the Uchiha, which is fundamental to the theory.

I'd go back to him acquiring KCM; that's when I started liking him less and less. I'm hoping his underdog status isn't entirely shattered... I feel like he can still be saved, or prevented from being broken anymore then it currently is with the prophecy, the comparison, and what not.

They are mad simply because the Sage= Uzumaki would make the Uzumakis> Senju and Uchiha which the fanboys vehemently oppose.

That is incorrect:

Kishimoto already confirmed it, way back in January:

Also, the powers of the Senju and Uchiha come from the Juubi since the Elder and Younger Sons were creations from the Juubi's essence with Banbutsu Sozo.

The Bijuus are but one example

So what were the other creations with Banbutsu Sozo?

This:

The Elder Son (Juubi's Yin) The Younger Son (Juubi's Yang)

Intersting points. In response to

1. People believe that the uzumaki don't have special eye or spiritual adeptness simply because the rikudou acquired these traits from the juubi. So his descendants inherited them where the rest of his original clan(uzumaki) did not.

2. The reaper death seal mask needed to be activated in front of the naka shrine tablet. Which hints that there is connection between the two clans sometime in the past.
