1. You're assuming kids... and My parents got married in a courthouse in South Carolina. It cost them the price of the license.

2. Married black men tend to make more than single white men as well. There are obvious benefits to marriage financially
1) It's not like you never assume anything :p

But don't you think that if someone gets married, they have to count with kids?

2) Well I understand there are benefits to marriage (I guess in the US it's mostly because of the tax benefits, right?), but the question is, considering you said that married black men earn twice as much as their unmarried counterparts, how much of that is covered by the benefits of marriage?

In any case, I'd still expect it's more likely that those who make more money to begin with, will be more likely to get married, and not the other way around.

I'd attribute it to a number of reasons, f.e those who earn more, probably do so partly because they are better educated. Now, having spent more time in schools, it means they are already older when they start working, and even older than that when they have paid their dues and reached better paying positions/jobs. As they are older by then, they will be more likely to get settled in marriage. A second factor may be that those who make more money, having better jobs, probably also have better social relations. And thirdly, as I already said, those who make more income, will be more likely to afford a decent place where they will be able to raise children.

Anyone who bases the levels of human intelligence on IQ tests are not very smart. In fact, they have no idea what they are talking about.
