Technically there's no fire existing like Amaterasu in the real world. So your theory of gases won't be applicable since it is a manga buddy. Don't use scientific logic when it comes to unstoppable jutsus. U_U

Ametarasu is black, how is it supposed to glow and give off light?

it's probably not in the visible spectrum. Or should I say our eyes can't pick it up. Little known fact: the human body gives off light at night but it's too faint for us too see it.

Ice is not water, because water is Fluid, Water fills the shape of whatever container you put it in, Water quenches your thirst. Since Ice does not do any of this we can say it is not water? Ofcourse not, it is merely Water in a separate state, and because it is in this separate state it gained properties that Water does not have and does not have properties that Water does have. And yet Ice is still Water.

Techniquely Amaterasu is not fire. Flames require gases to continue burning. We have seen Amaterasu burn underwater completely cut off from any gases what so ever. Not only that but flames emit light Amaterasu does not. When sasuke accidentally amaterasued tobi, tobi fell back in the shadows we couldn't even see a faint glimmer. Not only that but flames spread and grow. In every instance Amaterasu was used it NEVER spread infact it stayed the same size unless it was put out by the user. So in conclusion it is not a fire only fire like.

amaterasu can burn in space because , as long as , there is molecules there will be vibration and as long as there is vibration there will be heat (amaterasu those not need oxygen or Organic Compound).
even space is not a complete vacum (just google it ) .
