it's an IMAGINARY fire release/attack (it BURNS).

what you said is true to a degree but, this is like trying to apply reality/science into a fantasy world where people fly, shoot fire/water/wind/electricity from their bodies and move around carrying GINGANTIC monsters inside of them .........................

so in conclusion (using your style), this is a waste of time.

It's the fire taken directly from the sun with a super long tube. Don't you see why the sun is so bright? Too much black flame makes it too bright

Its Fire.

Stop being an idiot.

Your trying to bring real life properties to Katon

Have you even read the manga ?

They can breathe it out there mouths for gods sake no gas is floating in there stomach genius.

Besides it was said it can burn for 7 days and 7 nights what makes you think water is going to put it out ?

Oh,yeah that's right i forgot i was talking to a professor over here.

Professor Wraith was it ?

The point of this thread was to let you guys know that this guy, indeed, does his homework.

Sounds like someones trying to sound smart taking information from a textbook...

Of course Amaterasu is fire since it's based of the japanese goddess of fire who goes by the same name.

Amaterasu's the sun goddess. I think kagatsuchi is the fire god

Science says I'm right and science is always right.

Science dosent apply to a fictional realm made up by a japanese man.

Science has been revised and corrected throughout history anyway. The earth use to be thought of as flat by.....you guessed it scientists. They had poor tools and instruments back then but they were scientists none the less. So please stop speaking from your hind quarters and join the rest of us on the sperical planet earth.

Why did Zetsu's Madara half say "or so I've heard" when refering to amaterasu? Did we just find some evidence that Madara never had amaterasu

The hell did I just read...

Water, by the way, is H20. The H2 stands for two Hydrogen molecules. If you didn't know, Hydrogen is a gas. This is simple chemistry...

Author's Note: Not saying that fire can burn underwater, just saying there is Hydrogen in water, and maybe Amaterasu can burn off that, from a scientific point of view.

And, like my boy rikerslade said, a black flame won't give off light.

While it is true that H2 is a gas, when it is in a molecular compound with Oxygen in water it is in a liquid state: H20(l).

Fire is the visual name given to the chemical reaction called a Combustion Reaction: Thermochemistey.

Organic Compound (typically a combination of Carbon and Hydrogen)+ O2 + Heat Yields Carbon Dioxide + Water in a Gaseous state [H2O(g)].

Under normal circumstances, fire cannot survive in water because the Energy requires to break the H2O bonds isn't strong enough not to mention the Hydrogen bonds formed between water state H2O Hydrogen atoms. Not enough O2 is produced.

However, with enough heat (which is basically your genetic energy given into the molecules) there can theoretically be the energy to break up the H2O bonds and Hydrogen bonds leading to the possibility of O2 creation. Therefore and thusly, "fire can occur under water".

While the only real life scenarios involving this would occurs by manipulating chemical fires (not organic as I noted above) with Amaterasu, it presents an exception because of the heat. Amaterasu is noted to burn with the heat of the Sun...... Needless to say that shit is H-O-T . Because of this insane heat, it is possible to create enough energy to break the H20 and Hydrogen bonds quickly enough to allow for combustion.

Chem-101: Thermodynamics :hint:
