Are you black?
Competition is fierce. If you have a degree, competition for higher profile jobs is even more fierce. Try your best to find a job that pays 10-15 an hour with long term security. You can get this pay in a large variety of jobs with little to no experience, you just need to be on the right websites or teaming up with the right temp agencies.
I worked mediocre $12 an hour jobs for most of my 20's. Now I have a much more secure job in my field, but it took a long time and I saw many near misses along the way. In general, a company has to take a risk with someone with little to no experience, even if they have the education. The simple fact is there is always someone better than you out there, so it always involves luck and timing. Having a network of connections through friends and family helps as well. The more exposure you can get, the better.
