Hey there, I will be your teacher during this orientation session! But before we begin, I just have a few questions:
- How much knowledge do you have about the Naruto series in terms of chakra, abilities, ranks etc.?
- Do you have a biography yet?
- Would you like to do this orientation out of character, where I just explain things to you (OOC), or would you like to do it in character, where my bio explains things to yours (IC)?

Awesome! Since you already know about chakra and abilities, let's move on then.

Tiashe Raggs walked into the training grounds, where he was told to meet a new ninja. Spotting her quickly, the green-eyed Shinobi approached with a friendly demeanour. Hey there! Sorry to keep you waiting, but I'm here now. He rubbed the back of his head, laughing sheepishly. He already knew her name as he was told before. Anyways, I'm assuming you want to delve right into it, so let's get started! Here. Tiashe tossed the girl a scroll, holding the following information in it:
Biographies: You already have a bio, but we will still cover this as I'm sure you will want to make more and different bios in the future. We will discuss the difference between canon and custom bios, ranks and specialties/special abilities. Bios are the core of the RP, as you can't do anything without them.

▸Canon vs Custom Bios
▸Ranks
▸Specialties
▸Special Abilities (and their combinations HA/AE/KG/Mode)

Battling:

Battling involves fighting your character with others in the RP. This part covers all the relevant information you need to know about battling, such as time-frame, how to defend etc.

▸Time-frame
▸Blocking, avoiding, dodging
▸Disagreements, quoting, and quoting etiquette
▸Official vs Unofficial battles

The Ninja World or Warring States Era (WSE):

The WSE is the world where RP takes place. You will learn about missions, clans, and different story arcs and what they mean. I will also explain the map to you, the rules of engagement in the WSE, and travelling etc.

▸Missions (Very important)
▸Clans
▸Story Arcs

Customs:

Customs are where RPers can make unique things for themselves. You will learn how to make them, and the rules surrounding them.

▸CJ (Custom Jutsu)
▸CFS (Custom Fighting Style)
▸CE/CEJ (Custom Elements and Custom Element Jutsus)
▸CC/CCJ (Custom Clans and Custom Clan Jutsu)
▸CW (Custom Weapons)
▸CT (Custom Technology)
After giving her a few moments to take some of the information in, he spoke. I know at this point you may not understand most of the things written on the scroll, but that is why I am here! Let us begin with the biography section first. Do you have any questions before we begin this section?

Alright then, since it's going to be kind of awkward explaining some things IC, I will be alternating between OOC and IC. We can go back to IC in the next post. I will firstly explain the difference between canon and custom bios to you OOC. But before that, let me just tell you some important rules about bios.

Firstly, you can currently have two bios, and once you reach Jounin rank, you can have 3 bios. We will talk more about ranks later. Secondly, once your bio has been approved, you can not edit it, otherwise you can not use it anymore. Thirdly, once your bio has been approved, you can not drop it or switch it with another bio for at least one month. And lastly, you should always follow the basic bio template, although you can customise it to look nice. But remember, if you want to copy another person's bio template, ask them first. Now let's turn to the difference between canon and custom bios.

▸Canon Bios
Canon bios are bios that use characters from the Naruto or Boruto series. These bios usually have their own jutsu (techniques) and specialties which custom bios can not have. However, this comes with a limitation which is that canon bios already have their own specialties, abilities, looks and history, and so you can not customise them in terms of those things. For example, Kakashi is a canon bio. Since he specialises in lightning in the anime, that is what his specialty will be in the RP. You can not put for example fire as his specialty. Also, he has dogs as his summoning contract, so that is what his summon will be.
Although you can not change the abilities or specialties of a canon bio, there is a way to get around the looks and history, by using bio skins. Bio skins involve taking the abilities and specialties of a canon character, and applying them to a non-canon character. For example, you can take the character Ichigo from the anime Bleach, and give him all the abilities of Kakashi. He would then be exactly like Kakashi, except he would have different looks, perhaps personality, and a different history too. As another example, your current bio is considered a skin because you made the history different to the canon character Rin.
▸Custom Bios

Custom bios are characters that are not from the Naruto series. If you want to look at some examples, both of the bios in my signature are custom bios. With custom bios, you have to be careful when making the history. Do not just copy and paste the history of another character. You have to make sure it aligns with the RP. If you want an example of this, look at my Ryuu bio in my sig below, and see how I made the history so that it fits the RP. Although this type of bio takes a bit more effort to make than a canon bio, you have the freedom to customise it however you want. I personally prefer custom bios.
If you have any questions regarding this, feel free to ask me. Also, if you don't understand the way I am explaining, just let me know and I will try another approach.

Okay we will go back to IC for this part now. Please remember to respond through your character, meaning, describe your character responding to what I am telling you.

Ryuu was a bit surprised when Rin said she did not have any questions. Usually new ninjas would, but perhaps she needed more information first. He decided to move on with the lesson. Okay then, we will talk about ninja ranks. You may be wondering just what they are. Basically, there are 5 ninja ranks: Academy Student, Genin, Chūnin, Jōnin and Sage. Let me go through them one by one with you.

To start off, you yourself are still an Academy Student. That means that at this stage, you have very little chakra (300) compared to higher ranked ninjas. Your health (35) is also lower, and so if a ninja hits you with one or two techniques, you will most likely be dead. So listen very carefully. You have to keep training in order to increase your chakra supply and make you stronger. Another feature of your rank is that you can only use 2 basic elements (e.g. water and fire) and 1 basic ninja skill (e.g. taijutsu), and only up to C-Ranks. This is because your chakra supply is not high enough to use higher ranked techniques yet.

Moving on, if you keep training, and perform 4 D/C Rank missions and/or battles, you will reach Genin rank. If you fight ninjas with a higher rank than you, you will be able to increase your rank faster. Anyways, at this rank, you have double the chakra supply as before (600), and also increased health (75). You can now use 3 basic elements and 2 basic ninja skills, up to B-Ranks.

Next is Chūnin, which can be reached by performing 5 B/A Rank missions and/or battles. Again, your chakra supply (1000) and health (100) increase. At this rank, you can also use 4 basic elements and 4 basic ninja skills, up to A-Ranks. But you can use up to S-Ranks with only one of the basic elements at this stage.

The next rank is Jōnin, which is what I am! I reached here by completing 6 S Rank missions/battles. At this rank, I have a large chakra supply (1600) and a good health level (160). I can use all 5 basic elements and the 4 basic ninja skills up to F-Ranks. If you keep training, you can reach this level in time too!

Lastly, Sage is the highest rank. Reaching it requires a sage mission to be completed, or a very expensive purchase to gain the title. Very few ninjas are at this rank, and so it is well sought after. Ninjas of this rank have an enormous chakra supply (2000) and a great health pool (200). They are able to make their own clan, learn a third custom fighting style, and use a fifth custom element. I will talk more about these customs later on towards the end of this session.

Well, those are all the ranks. Do you have any questions about them? Also, keep in mind that after every one of the 4 major sections, I will give you a short quiz, so if you don't understand everything here, don't hesitate to ask! Tiashe eagerly looked at Rin, hoping she would have some questions, or if not, that she had understood everything.

This section is OOC again. I want to tell you about the basic elements and basic ninja skills, as well as the ranks of battles in this RP. So basically, there are 5 basic elements, as you would know from your knowledge of Naruto: Earth, Wind, Fire, Lightning and Water. If you click on these names, you will be taken to the techniques for each element. Then there are 4 basic ninja skills: Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, Taijutsu and Kenjutsu. Again, press the names to view the techniques.

Next I want to explain how to rank up via battles. The missions one I already explained, but battles is a little more complex. Basically, if you want to rank up to Genin, you need a total of 4 points. This can be through only missions, only battles, or a combination of both. If you do it via missions, you need to perform 4 D or C Ranked missions. But if you want to do battles, then this is the guide to follow:

Fighting a bio one rank below your own rank = 0.5 points
Fighting a bio of equal rank = 1.0 point
Fighting a bio one rank above your own rank = 1.5 points
Fighting a bio two ranks above your own rank = 2.0 points
So basically, if you were to fight only Academy Students, then you would need 4 fights. But if you fight 2 Academy Students and 1 Chūnin for example, you only need 3 fights. Alternatively, you can also have 2 points from missions, and the remaining 2 points from battles. Once you feel like you have enough points for ranking up, you have to follow the template in this thread and post here: https://animebase.me/threads/ranking-reform-battle-submission.738513/. Any questions?

Alright, let us move on then. The emerald eyed ninja enthusiastically started explaining to Rin about specialties that ninjas could have. Most ninjas have specialties in something or another, and if you have not found yours yet, I am sure you will in time. Ninjas of any rank, including you, can have specialties. So basically, there are 3 combinations of specialties that a ninja can have. Anymore than that is not really a possible feat for us you know.

1) You can have 2 Primary + 1 Secondary, in addition to 1 Extra or 1 CFS-related specialties.
2) OR you can have 1 Primary + 2 Secondary, in addition to 1 Extra or 1 CFS-related specialties.
3) OR you can have 1 Primary + 1 Secondary + 1 Unique, in addition to 1 Extra and 1 CFS-related specialties.
Let me explain this a bit more. Primary specialties are usually better than secondary specialties, and unique specialties are related to a primary or secondary specialty. Extra specialties include abilities such as Fuuinjutsu or Medical Ninjutsu, but you won't have them till you learn them a lot later. And CFS-Related specialties refer to a certain type of custom, which we will discuss later. Here, this might help you understand a bit better. Tiashe tossed 3 more scrolls at Rin.
Single Handseal Specialist:

You can perform techniques of the skill you chose to specialize in by performing a single ( 1 ) handseal, that is still double-handed except when specifically stated otherwise in the technique. This can be applied to Advanced and Custom Elements that are composed of basic elemental affinities.

Personal Summoning Specialist:

You can have one summon with you at all times. In case of Custom made summons, from Canon or Custom Contracts, you have the monopoly of that summon, and other users of the contract may not utilize it when facing you in battle, or in the NW until your defeat.

Shadow Clone Specialist:

You can have Shadow Clones and variants that return up to 50% more chakra when dispersed. This also allows you to create 1 more Shadow Clone than normal.

Increased Tracking Specialist:

The user gains enhanced senses, tracking up to 1.5x faster.

Increased Speed Specialist:

Your base speed is increased by 1 additional level. This makes your movement faster than those of your rank. This increase stacks on with Active speed increases such as Leg Weights or Eight Gates.

Damage Resistance:

Your body is capable of reducing D rank damage ( 10 damage ) from Ninjutsu/Taijutsu attacks, from physical elements and ninjutsu skills and taijutsu skills that you specialize in.

Combat Specialist:

Limited to Taijutsu related Specialties. Kenjutsu and Taijutsu increases passively by 10 damage.
Kenjutsu Specialist:

The user becomes so skilled in Kenjutsu, his strikes all carry increased range, working up to 1 range further than normal. This applies for none elemental Kenjutsu only.

Genjutsu Range Specialist:

You can perform Genjutsu with one extra range added on. This does not apply to Genjutsu that are able to prevent at least two forms of Genjutsu Break.

Genjutsu Defense Specialist:

Limited to Genjutsu-related specialist. You can have a Genjutsu immunity of up to C rank, being immune to basic Genjutsu of that rank and lower.

Genjutsu Casting Specialist:

Limited to Genjutsu-related specialist. You are able to cast Genjutsu with only 1 seal, lowering the requirements for casting to just 1 seal unless specific triggers are required.
Increased Elemental Specialist:

You can perform techniques of a second element with faster seals and halved handseals, if more than 3 seals ( 4 and up ).

Sourceless Materializing Specialist:

You can materialize your element or skill you specialize in without needing a source. Likewise, you can sustain creations of the element without limiting yourself, such as creation of S rank Earth Golem and allowing it to exist without sustaining it on your own. This is done by adding 1 handseal to the necessary total.

Naturalist Summoning Specialist:

You may produce the same special skills as the animals of the contracts you've signed (e.g., Toad oil, Spider silk, snake venom, etc ).

Efficient Chakra Control Specialist:

You can utilize the element or skill you specialize in more chakra efficient way, by spending 10 less chakra than stated while maintaining it's useability.

Increased Damage Resistance:

Your body is capable of reducing D rank damage ( 20 damage ) from Ninjutsu/Taijutsu attacks, from physical elements and ninjutsu skills and taijutsu skills that you specialize in.

Increased Combat Specialist:

You are capable of increasing your freeform Tai/Kenjutsu damage to 10.
Increased Speed Specialist:

Your base speed is increased by 2 additional levels. This makes your movement faster than those of your rank. This increase stacks on with Active speed increases such as Leg Weights or Eight Gates.
Increased Tracking Specialist:

Your tracking capabilities become more advanced, allowing you to have x2 tracking speeds.

Increased Genjutsu Defense Specialist:

You can have a Genjutsu immunity of up to B rank, being immune to basic Genjutsu of that rank and lower.

Genjutsu Layering Specialist:

Limited to Genjutsu-related Specialties. You can Multi-layer up to 2 Genjutsu within the same time frame, AA rank combination.

Advanced Kenjutsu Specialist:

Swordsmen who have excelled are capable of gaining access to Iaido based Samurai techniques.
Apex Handseal Specialist:

Limited to Ninjutsu Specialties. You can perform techniques of the skill you chose to specialize in without the usage of handseals, though you must still perform complimentary and logical body movements related to the technique.

Apex Summoning Specialist:

Limited to Ninjutsu Specialties. Can summon animals from both contracts in battle plus have a second personal summoning (human-sized at most).

Apex Clone Specialist:

Limited to Ninjutsu-related Specialties. You can have Shadow Clones and variants that return up to 75% more chakra when dispersed. This also allows you to utilize the Forbidden Shadow Clone jutsu without requiring Kinjutsu.

Apex Tracker Specialist:
Limited to Tracking Specialties. With more heightened senses, the user is capable of gaining a now increased x2.5 tracking.

Apex Speed Specialist:

Limited to Tracking Specialties. Your base speed is increased by 4 additional levels. This makes your movement faster than those of your rank. This increase stacks on with Active speed increases such as Leg Weights or Eight Gates.

Apex Warrior Specialist:
Limited to Taijutsu Specialties. An expert in hand to hand, the user's freeform damage gains the ability to deal 15 damage.

Apex Kenjutsu Specialist:
Limited to Taijutsu specialties. The user has the ability to use two sword based CW in one fight.
Apex Layering Specialist:

Limited to Genjutsu-related Specialties. You can Multi-layer up to 2 Genjutsu within the same time frame, SA rank combination.

Apex Range Specialist:
Limited to Genjutsu-related Specialties. You can perform any Genjutsu up to long range away. This does not apply to Genjutsu that are able to prevent at least two forms of Genjutsu Break.
Just as an example, I will tell you my specialties as a ninja. My Primary specialty is Water, which means I can perform all water techniques with only one hand seal. Then I also have the Personal Summoning Specialist ability, which means that I have the ability to keep a summon with me at all times. Currently, I have not yet found what my Secondary specialty is, but I'm sure I will soon. Also, my Extra specialty is Medical Ninjutsu. So as you can see, my abilities follow the first model that I just told you about. Anyways, do you have any questions about the specialties in general, or what is written in the scrolls?

Watching his student's interested expressions, Tiashe happily moved on to the next part. Well, if you understand all of that too, then let's move on to the last part for this section, which are special abilities. Every ninja, including you, can have a combination of abilities. Since you are an Uchiha, you would for example have the Kekkei Genkai of Sharingan. I'm sure you know what the Sharingan is, having seen your clan with it probably. Now, in order for us to decipher what other special abilities you can have, let us see another scroll. Tiashe threw another scroll her way. >>>Scroll<<<

In this, you can see that the table shows the combination of what things you can have. So for you, you have 2 options. Firstly, you can opt to follow this:
Kekkei Genkai:
  • KGs can have one Advanced Ninjutsu and one Mode (excluding EIG)
  • Mangekyou and higher Doujutsu bios cannot have Sage Mode.
Example: MS Sharingan + Sound

OR, you can follow this:
  • KG + HA
  • KG + AE
If you decide to do the first one I have shown you, then that means alongside your Sharingan, you can learn both an Advanced Ninjutsu AND a Mode. However, if you decide to go with the second option and learn a Hidden Ability, or and Advanced Element with your Sharingan, then instead of having 3 things like the first one, you can only have 2. This is because the things in the second option are more powerful, and you will thus not be capable of having anything more. Both are good.

Now, you may be wondering what exactly all these abilities are? Well do not fear, for here we have... yes, another scroll! Tossing this one to her as well, he continued. This one has a whole list, and you can choose what you want to learn from there. >>>Scroll<<<

Let me give you some examples now. If you want to follow the first option, then just as an example, you could also learn Bubblegum Ninjutsu and Curse Mark, alongside your Sharingan. Or, if you want the second option, you could potentially learn the ways of the Aburame clan for example, if one of your parents is from that clan, OR, Blast Release, which is an element. Remember, all of these are just examples, and you can have pretty much whatever you want from that list, as long as it fits in the combination you choose!

Another thing on that list that you can see is titled Universal Abilities. These are abilities that any ninja, including you, can have, regardless of what combination you choose. And what's more, there is no limit to what you can have on that specific list. For example, if you went with the first option, and decide to learn Bubblegum Ninjutsu and Curse Mark with your Sharingan, you could also learn things like Fuuinjutsu, Kinjutsu, Yin and Yang etc.

Again, I'll give you my example of special abilities, just to put in more into perspective. I follow the AE + HA model in the first scrollI just showed you. This is because one of my parents is from the Yuki clan, and the other is from the Hōzuki clan. Since those two are very powerful, I can not learn any Advanced Ninjutsus or Modes. However, I can learn whatever I want from the universal Abilities list, and I currently have Medical Ninjutsu learned from there. I can learn more things from that list, such as Fuuinjutsu in the future if I want as well.

Anyways, I think that's about if for special abilities. Any questions or interesting comments?

Rin stood there nodding as the emerald eyed ninja was explaining all of the special abilities, kekkei genkai, etc. still surprisingly having no questions at all as, usually with things like this, Rin would have a lot of questions, but surprisingly she still didnt.

OOC: We are going to do a quiz now. Half of them will be OOC, and the rest IC.

1) Do you have a canon bio or a custom bio? What features make your bio a canon/custom one?

2) If your bio (Academy Student) was to fight my bio (Jounin), how many points would you get for ranking up? Use Post #7 in this thread to deduce the answer.
3) With this next question, I have provided you with the template for ranking up in the first spoiler. This is what you will have to use when you are going to be ranking up yourself. In the second spoiler, I have provided you with some links that a Genin member posted in his rank up thread to become a Chunin. Using the information I have provided you in Post #7, can you sort the pieces into the template in the spoiler? Also, next to each of the links, can you tell me how many points they are worth?
Username:
Current Rank: Genin
Battle Submitting:
Mission(s) Submitting:

Alright then, since you have no questions, I have some questions for you! Tiashe smiled enthusiastically as he asked some questions from his student:

1) At your current rank, can you tell me how many basic elements and basic skills you can use? Also, what is your chakra and health currently like?
2) Next, if you were to have specialties, what would they be? You can use any of the three models I told you about. I want you to tell me what your Primary specialty(s) could be, your Secondary specialty(s), and a Unique one if your chosen model would allow you to have one. Also use the 3 lists to pick them.
3) And one more, what special abilities do you think you can have? I want examples of what you can have as an Uchiha.

I have a custom bio. Things that make up a custom bio are different first/last name, different history, etc.
2 points.
Username: N/A, Current rank: genin, Battle submitting:Genin vs Chuunin, - 1.5 points Genin vs Sage - 2 points, Missions submitting: 2 B rank. - 2 points

Rin smiled back with a small look of obvious nervousness, as Tiashe asked her the first question, she yelled out enthusiastically I can have up to 2 basic elements, and 1 basic skill. Currently, my chakra and health is 300 chakra and 35 health. As Tiashe said the next question, Rin prepared herself before Tiashe said the next question. As soon as Tiashe finished the question, Rin yelled out the answer as enthusiastic as ever. My primary specialty could be personal summoning specialty, my secondary specialty could be increased elemental specialist, and a unique one could be apex summoning specialist.
Tiashe moved onto the third and final question. Rin prepared herself for the final question. As Tiashe said the question, Rin immediately knew this was going to be an easy one. The special abilities I think I can have is sharingan.

Very good! You have a good understanding of these things. But just remember, when you want to rank up, you will have to follow the template. Just for reference, >>>this<<< is the post from where I got the elements for you to rearrange from. Please make sure you follow it like this when your time comes to rank up.

As Rin enthusiastically answered all the questions, Tiashe smiled at her, happy that she could catch on to things easily. Excellent, Rin! You have a good understanding about your rank, and what specialties you can have. But I think you might need some more help on the special abilities part. What you said about Sharingan is correct, however, that is not the only specialty you can have. Could you try this one again?

Using one of the following models, can you try and give me an example of your specialties? Remember to look at this >>>list<<< here to help you.

1) Kekkei Genkai:
  • KGs can have one Advanced Ninjutsu and one Mode (excluding EIG)
  • Mangekyou and higher Doujutsu bios cannot have Sage Mode.
2) KG + HA

3) KG + AE

Tiashe observed his student for a moment, wondering if she was reading the list. He smiled and answered gently. Not quite, Rin. You see, Paper Ninjutsu is a Kekkei Genkai, and since you already have the Kekkei Genkai of Sharingan, you would not be able to have it. Look at the list and try again. Try to choose an Advanced Ninjutsu and a Mode instead.

Very good! It seemed that she was finally getting it. He decided to add a word of caution though. But remember, if your Sharingan were to ever evolve into the Mangekyou Sharingan, then you would not be able to use Sage Mode. However, you would be able to use for example a Curse Mark if you so wished. Anyways, let's move on to battling now!

So, you already know that there are five main elements right? Now, you also have to know what elements are strong and weak to each other. Unfolding a piece of paper, Tiashe showed Rin a diagram. Pointing at it, he spoke again. See here? You can see that in this circle, Fire is strong to Wind, which is strong to Lightning, which is strong to Earth, which is strong to Water, which is strong to Fire.

You must be registered to see images

Here, this might make things clearer. He threw her a scroll which contained written explanations instead of a diagram. He knew that some students learnt by visual explanations, whilst some preferred writing.
Fire
-Weak to water
-Strong against wind

Water
-Weak against earth
-Strong against fire

Earth
-Weak against lightning
-Strong against water

Lightning
-Weak against wind
-Strong against earth

Wind
-Weak against fire
-Strong against lightning

The reason why I talk about elements first is because in a battle, you have to know what element to use right? For example, if your opponent uses fire on you, it would be easier to counter with water than it would be with another element. So if they used for example an S-Rank fire technique on you, since water is strong to fire, you would only need an A-Rank water technique to counter against it. But if you were to use Wind, which is weak against fire, you would need an F-Rank to counter the fire. This is not efficient and so you would most likely not use wind in this situation, and would rather use water. Do you understand this?
